Focus HVAC

Focus HVAC is the only company I use for all of my heating and cooling needs. A few years back I did my due diligence and researched/interviewed at least five different HVAC companies before installing (including ducts and vents) central air conditioning in my grandmother's house. It was Dan Matson who was the rep that came out to the house. He did an outstanding job. I got a great vibe from Focus due to their expertise and professionalism. Focus did a high quality job at a very fair price.

They worked nonstop until they were able to repair our unit. It was a series of issues but they didn't give up or try to sell us a new unit. The owner even came out to help. Very pleased with this company and enjoying a cool home. Would highly recommend them.

The best HVAC company I have ever had. When my AC stopped working I had another company come out and after paying $500 for coolant added and cleaning of my outside unit my AC stopped working again..I had no trust in this company after they came back and STILL did not fix the unit. I called Focus and the came out the same day. The tech., Rob was so professional and stayed for at least a hour waiting for the AC to malfunction again but finally he had to leave but told me if it stopped working to call and they'd come back. It did stop working again a hour later, I called and the tech came out within 30 minutes and immediately saw it was a faulty contactor which worked intermittently. They replaced it and its been working great since. Excellent company, will use for my usual maintenance from now on and won't hesitate to call if any future repairs are needed.

Focus HVAC installed a new boiler furnace and hot water heater. The men were on time and professional. Both pieces of equipment are working fabulously. I spent months comparing companies (price and reputation). I highly recommend them!

Excellent customer service. Focus has serviced my HVAC in the past and had excellent experience. Focus was selected based on the excellent reviews on Angies list and I was not dissappointed. Very professional, prompt, timely, efficient. The tenant was having a problem that the a/c was not cooling the upstairs when the downstairs was pleasant. Focus also recommended that the insulation needs to be updated. Based on this recommendation I searched on Angies list and selected a insulation specialist based also on excellent reviews. The end result was excellent with the new energy efficient furnace and AC. Thank you Focus HVAC for your excellent customer service.

Our hot water heater broke early on Saturday morning. Focus HVAC had recently done a great job replacing our AC, so I called. Although they only had 1 guy on call and it’s a 2 man job; the owner came out himself to assist with the install. Great service! I would recommend them to anyone!

Couldn't have been happier with how this went with Focus. Dan was a straight-shooter, who gave an honest, fair, upfront quote on the system with no back-and-forth. This was in stark contrast to the method employed by a well-advertised competitor with a lot of orange trucks. The sales rep from them made my wife and I feel like we were back in that uncomfortably crappy time-share pitch down in Mexico that we were sucked into once. That guy basically quotes us ("to prepare me", prior to looking at my system) a ballpark price that was nearly DOUBLE what Focus' quote was. The install went quick, smooth, virtually no trace anyone was here, and so far, the system is working great. If/when my downstairs unit goes, Focus will definitely get my business again

I called FOCUS based on my prior experience with a new install. I have an older Mini split condenser with 2 inside units that were put in my another company. One of them started leaking and the normal checks and cleaning didn't help. Again, everybody I dealt with at FOCUS was friendly and informative from the office to the technician. This company has great customer service. Brett(?), the technician even took his shoes off when he entered my house because of the rain outside, and let me now all steps that were taken. The price was right with absolutely no upsell.

I needed someone to level the concrete pad that the AC unit was sitting on. The man who came out was very professional, Brett, he was punctual and everything went fine and he was very nice. Their fee was a little more than their competitors but I thought I would hire him to do the job because he was already out giving me the free estimate.

I have a unit that is at least 35 years old. I called the service provider and told them that the unit was not cooling adequately. The next day, I received service. Technician Brett quickly diagnosed the unit as needing a fan capacitor. He replaced the component and finished the job while it was raining! He had an excellent attitude and was able to answer every question I had. I highly recommend this company!

Excellent. I had a very bad experience with Hutchinson Plumbing and Heating (see review). South Jersey Gas had red tagged my gas furnace, hot water and venting in which the gas was shut off. After a failed emergency repair with Hutchinson Plumbing and Heating I called Focus HVAC at 7:30 pm May 18, 2018 based on excellent reviews on YELP and ANGIES LIST. FOCUS sent John out 8 am the next morning and repaired several gas leaks from couplings and shutoff valves and replaced the hot water heater. Thank you FOCUS for taking care of an emergency situation at a reasonable price. You are now my #1 go to vendor.

From the start, this was the company to choose. I enjoyed prompt responses, a good quote and neat and polite staff. I needed another estimate to replace my existing mini split as I was adding additional rooms in my no basement/no attic/no ductwork house. I called Focus based mainly from Angies List reviews. Their office staff couldn't be more helpful and were aware of the rebates available for the equipment that would be installed. The installers were on time and polite. They kept me up to date during the entire installation process. Everything was very professional and neat. I would not hesitate to call them again for any of my Heating/Air Conditioning needs.

Very pleased with replacement of our AC unit and heater. Friendly and professional staff, fair price. We also use this company for annual maintenance checks and have always had a good experience.

The price was about $8,000 for the gas heater and roughly around $8,000 to $9,000 for the central air. They were the most reasonable. There was one cheaper, but we didn't go with them. They were just very forthcoming and professional. There were no hidden charges. We got exactly what we were quoted.

Called on a Sunday came out Monday installed new AC on Wednesday. Very professional on time. Replaced my 25 year old A/C with a much more efficient unit at a very reasonable price would definitely recommend them.

I called Focus HVAC, explained what happened with previous contractor. Since my problem was resolved by me plugging back in the condensate pump, Focus understood and helped get my money refunded from Angie's List. All is well and happy with the results.

In March of 2015 we had our entire HVAC system replaced by Focus (condenser, evaporator, furnace) and we ran new ductwork to the upstairs which previously didn't have any. The first problems started here, but were minor and I had no issue with them because of it. First, they didn't put in a air return on the 2nd floor like our quote had stated. They quickly realized this on their own and came back to add it. The 2nd bedroom upstairs had no airflow. I investigated this myself and found that they jammed the ductwork through a tiny opening allowing for very little airflow. I fixed this myself by cutting a hole in my ceiling, removing a small piece of excess wood and then repaired everything. The first summer came in 2015 and as soon as we started running the AC for days at a time, we had problems. The coil would ice up after two to three days of running. It would also run for 18-20 hours a day just to keep the house at 78F. They came out and told me to change my air filters more often, which I agreed to and have been changing them every month. Later that year, after having the problem continue with the filter changes, I called them out again. They added 1/2lb of coolant to the system for free. This was August of 2015 so the system ran well enough for the rest of the year. Late the next year, the same problem started happening again and I called them out again in August of 2016 where they added another half pound and a leak sealant. They claimed they couldn't find leaks either time, yet 1lb of coolant and leak sealant was added. Once again, it ran OK, not perfect, through the rest of the summer. Now the source of of negative review begins this year. In April I called them to just come out and check out the system for a checkup, maybe check the coolant. It also does this weird thing the first time it turns on after being off for a while where it starts and stops. I couldn't reproduce it while they were here so I told them I would record it next time I saw it. I also asked for a quote to have a vent moved to accommodate new furniture. When he was here for the estimate, he said that since we were experiencing problems with our air cond, they would replace the coil under warranty. (He did not mention any cost to me.) He said he would email me a quote for the vent over the weekend. He never got back to me and I had to remind him about it. The quote came on a Tuesday and he said "Sorry For the delay, our busy season has kicked in early this year. OK, to move that duct will be $310.00. It should take between 2-3 hours. We don't do the carpentry work to patch the hole left by the old duct, so you would need to hire someone for that portion unless you do it yourself. As far as the coil, that is under warranty and we would change that out under the warranty. Let me know if this works for you and we will get it scheduled. Thanks again," In an email about an estimate there is no mention of any price for the warranty replacement. This is the second missed opportunity to tell me their fees. I called them earlier this month to schedule the vent and coil work and spoke to the receptionist who wouldn't schedule it and told me that someone would call me back. After no one called me back, I called again to schedule it. I spoke to Chris, who for the first time told me that to repair an air conditioner that has never worked properly, it would be nearly $600 in labor. I needed the work done soon so I scheduled it for that Friday. I arranged to be home that day for the work but got an email Thursday afternoon asking what I wanted done. I told them that I only wanted the vent work done and not the coil, because I felt like it was a bait and switch. At that point they told me to find another contractor and never showed up on Friday and haven't responded to my emails since. I called them on 5/17 and spoke to the receptionist and I explained after reviewing a settlement from the manufacturer of the coil, that I should be able to get refunded through that, so I'm now willing to get the coil and vent work done. She stated she would call me back if they were willing to do the work. I haven't heard from them since. Update as 05/23/2017: I am still willing to have the service performed, but it is impossible if they will not keep in touch with me either via email or the phone.

John came out, looked over the furnace w/ my husband, and after checking the manufacture date posted in the unit said it was under ten years old and likely under warranty. He offered to check into that. Later we found the warranty paperwork and let him know. Meanwhile, he worked up three very good quotes for three complete units (heat and ac) of varying efficiency etc, AND checked he could get the part, giving us the approximate cost of putting it in if they could get it but not under warranty, and that it'd be much less if the piece was under warranty. We only needed a new heat exchanger. John was out Thursday, and by Friday at 3 we had heat during the March cold snap. (19F outside w/o heat is no fun). Top marks for integrity, honesty, taking care of a customer, neat, efficient, just all around great. Another company quoted us $13K for a whole new system, and NEVER said the unit might be under warranty.
