We have lived in Kingwood Township, Hunterdon County, NJ, for many years. In fact, Mark was the excavator that dug the foundation for our home, 14 years ago. Mark has done many projects for us over the years. We would not think of using another excavator. This year Mark installed a 6 box Peat Fiber Biofilter septic system in an 82' x 25' area of our rear yard. Much of the ground in Kingwood Township is shale and clay. Septic leach fields do not drain well. Mark installed a new septic tank and a 2000 gal. septic dosing tank that pumps septic liquid 500 FEET through 3" delivery pipe to the peat boxes in the rear of our yard. This is relatively new technology. Mark was very careful to assure everything was done correctly, AND, unlike other contractors, Mark communicates closely with you. In order to bring the heavy equipment to the rear of our property, Mark created an access road made of crushed shale that leads to the large septic bed. The price above includes: 6 ANUA Peat Fiber Boxes 2000 Gal Dosing Tank w/1.5 hp Goulds Effluent Pup 500' of 3" Pipe Several Iron Tank Lids Wiring to Home Circuit Breaker Box Septic Sand & Stone & Fabric Cover Crushed Shale Access Road Extensive Excavation Work on the Disposal Bed, Septic Tanks and Pump, Access Road, Pipe Line Interface with Township Inspectors and County Board of Health Officials York Raking, Seeding and Haying the Disturbed Area One Year Maintenance Contract on the entire system Mark is respected throughout the county, thorough, uses high quality materials, and does not stop until the job is COMPLETELY finished, to the point of assuring all final paperwork is provided to the various Township and County Offices. We cannot recommend Mark Hendrickson highly enough. There was no risk involved in this large project. We knew we could trust Mark, that the system would be installed perfectly, and with as little stress to us as possible.
Description of Work: Mark installed an Advanced Wastewater Treatment System: the ANUA Peat Fiber Biofilter Treatment System. This system is used when a standard septic or raised bed septic will not work in an area.

We could not move forward with Mark for reasons as stated above; however Mark was still incredibly helpful.
Description of Work: Although the nature and scale of our project was too small for Mark, that did not hinder him from equipping us with invaluable information while pointing us in the direction of the proper contractor needed for the job "A Landscaper", The information Mark provided us with was priceless in helping with the screening process of prospective landscapers. Upon our meeting, Mark was very professional and extremely knowledgeable, while taking great pride in what he does. The contracting world is better off for having the professional caliber of a Mark Hendrickson in it. My husband and I will certainly keep Mark in mind for future large scale projects that require his expertise. Thank you and God Bless you Mark!

From beginning to end, Mark was very responsive. He was on hand exactly when he was needed, gave us precise written quotes, and managed the job with a minimum of disturbance. He handled his machines like it was second nature to him. We couldn't be happier.

Hendrickson was very professional and courteous from the first arrival for his estimate until the work was complete. He was very open to our ideas and described exactly what work he was going to perform. He was communicative during the job to keep us informed of his progress and any issues that came up. The only issue that arose was a concern over the routing of the drainage to an existing catch basin. He worked alone and in four days, the job as finished to our satisfaction.
Description of Work: Hendrickson dug a trench and filled it with flex pipe and stone along our long (165') driveway and another trench in the same fashion around the side and back of our garage (118'). He also regraded the driveway and spread approximately 90 ton of stone on it.

Work was performed on time and in a quality manner. Mark is an excellent backhoe operator, and obviously knew the best way to repair our foundation. A true professional. Cleaned up the area perfectly, and took the time to explain what he was doing and why. As pleasant an experience as could be expected. Would recommend him without any reservations.
Description of Work: I had a crack in my poured concrete foundation, and was getting seepage during heavy rains. Mark Hendrickson came out to assess the requirements, proposed a solution, and sent an official proposal in a timely manner. Work was scheduled for 3-4 weeks out, and while delayed one day, I was always kept informed. Excavated next to my foundation, to the bottom, cleaned out the crack, applied hydraulic cement, applied sealing tar, let it dry overnight, and backfilled and cleaned up the next morning.

Hendrickson's work and overall performance was flawless. He returned my very first call within 2 hours. He came out the next day to look at the site and give me a verbal quote. He provided the written quote via email attachment (which I requested) within three work days. He kept in touch as my husband and I lined up the other contractors and inspections, as his own schedule got increasingly full. He called the day before the work was to happen, to confirm we were all set and the various moving parts of the project were clicking into place. He showed up exactly on time and finished his work well before the propane company arrived, then stayed onsite and backfilled the hole. His work with the backhoe was skillful and precise. At all times, he was courteous and professional. For his crucial part of what has been an unexpectedly complicated and nerve-racking home improvement project, I give Mark Hendrickson an A+. I haven't been an Angie's List subscriber for very long, and finding an excavator was one reason I joined. I feel like I hit the jackpot.
Description of Work: Mark Hendrickson did the excavation required to install a propane tank in our front yard. That means he dug a big hole -- about 6 feet wide by 10 feet long by 6 or 7 feet deep, with a narrow trench from the big hole to the house -- and lined the hole and trench with sand, then backfilled the hole after the tank was in the ground and the gas line installed. He delivered the sand several days before the excavation took place, and he spread the excavated dirt on another part of our property. (He could have hauled the dirt offsite for $200 but we chose to keep it.)

Description of Work: Mark did the excavation to bury a propane tank connected to an emergency electrical generator. He encased the gas pipe and propane tank in sand, buried the anode bag and back-filled the excavation. As always, he did a great job. He timed his work to coordinate with the electrician, the propane supplier, and all three inspectors: plumbing, electric and fire. This is the fourth or fifth job we have given Mark. He dug the foundation for our home when it was built. He created the driveway. He installed the septic system. He repaired the driveway when it washed out from flooding. I don't think we could live in this rural area without Mark.

Mark did an excellent job and we would hire him again in a minute. He started the job when he said he would, finished ahead of time, and the final bill was the same as his estimate. He was very neat and very professional. Since a lot of the work was near the house, we especially liked that he was careful of the plantings and landscaping. Our experience with Mark was nothing but positive.
Description of Work: Our underground downspout drains were plugged up and collapsed. Mark replaced them with new ones. We also had a related problem with water in the basement. Mark dug down along the foundation at the problem area and repaired some cracks and re-sealed the whole area with tar.

The job took two days to complete and it was perfect. This is the consistant type of service we have always received from Mark. He excavated the site for the building of our 4,000 sq. ft. home. It was a difficult job as the house has many jogs and corners. The builder had recommended Mark. Later, Mark performed the grading of the yard and grass seeding. He created swails in the rear yard to prevent the water flow from reaching the house. The swails are very effective and are surprisingly lovely! Each job that Mark has perfomed has been priced well and completed with no problem. Mark has experience, the right equipment for any job, and puts a lot of thought into each project. We have been extremely pleased with the work Mark has done for us.
Description of Work: This is the fourth time we have hired Hendrickson Excavating. In this job, Mark reshaped and re-graded our driveway. We have a very long driveway that runs down hill. With the strong rains we have had over the last two years, a crevasse formed down the middle of the lower driveway and much of the stone had washed away. Mark filled the crevasse with millings then spread a 6" layer of the millings on the lower portion of our driveway and rolled them firm. The millings will melt together with the heat of the sun. He reshaped the driveway to allow the natural run of water to flow down the sides of the driveway instead of the middle. Then, Mark spread a 1" layer of clean, gray stone on the upper portion of the driveway near our home. He rolled all the stone and millings.
