MCK Landscaping

I wanted to share this experience with Angie's List to help prevent others from having the same issues with this landscaper that I did. I contacted MCK Landscaping regarding a quote to landscape my entire property from weeding to mulching to planting new trees and shrubs. The owner, Luigi, came to my house and gave me a very low cash price (as compared to the other quotes I'd received which were up to 8x higher). He seemed like a nice man at first and I re-confirmed with him the work he offered to do for the price. He told me he had a few other jobs and he would get back to me shortly. I asked him for references which he provided. None of them returned my calls. However, I proceeded anyway because I thought the guy was genuine and many times references don't return calls because they are too busy and don't have a vested interest. I also asked him to put the quote into writing and leave it in my mailbox which he never did. Weeks went by and my phone calls went unanswered. Frankly, at this point I was ready to move on but wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt since he promised to do my job and then disappeared. After several weeks of no response I finally reached Luigi on the phone. I asked him if he was still interested in the job and he said he was too busy. I told him it was unprofessional to not return my calls and leave me in the lurch on this job and he told me that he didn't like me asking questions about his work! Are you kidding me! That's right, he didn't like that I asked him questions about his knowledge and experience and that I asked him to put his estimate in written form! Time to hire a professional. As I should have known from the initial quote, you get what you pay for.
