Mr. Handyman of S. Orange/Westfield/Scotch Plains & Metuchen

This was a small job but I was very pleased with the responsiveness of the company and how punctual the workman was. He gave me some advise when dealing with the cable company that would hang the television. That was appreciated.

Our kitchen table's legs cracked off. Our teenage son was coming home with 8 friends in a couple of days and we needed it fixed quickly and sturdily so that we could feed them and make them feel at home. Bruce at Mr. Handyman returned my call quickly and sent the perfect person....Greg to fix the problem. He was punctual, worked quickly and neatly and our table is sturdier than it's ever been. We'd definitely use them again.

Mr. Handyman is wonderful. Michael is prompt and meticulous in both work and cleanup. He is polite and thoughtful about what needed to be done, with our input and ideas. He is a great problem solver with many possible solutions. We used him for so many things, back door jam, window recaulking, attic fan replacement, garage door gasket replacement. Anything we asked was a resounding, "yes, I can do that". We WILL have him back to do an attic stair and attic insulation. Mike is a true asset to Mr.Handyman who by the way will call to confirm and followup to check if the job was done to our satisfaction. The entire organization understands customer service.

Unfortunately, when the serviceman arrived (Gregg), the bathroom wasn't leaking (like when you go to the doctor and what had been bothering you doesnt at that time!). It took awhile to pinpoint the leak but Gregg was determined to find and repair it, which he did. Very pleased with the work; I would highly recommend.

He is very good. He has got a lot of recommendations on Angie's List. He was clean and efficient. He knew what he was doing. His price was comparable and fair.

We regularly saw Mr. Handy Man's trucks around town and decided to give them a call for some minor repairs on our new home. Mike showed up as scheduled, got right to work and exceeded all expectations. Great personality, offered some solid insight to the work he was performing as well as answering questions and providing information regarding future projects. We highly recommend Mr. Handy Man (especially Mike!) and will be using them again in the near future.

Professionlism at it's finest. From call to the time repaiman came was about 1 hour. He surveyed the situation and proceeded to work and then decided that it would require additional clips which he went to the nearest Home Depot and returned and finished the job.Very clean and polite .Thanks to Michael the repairman. He gets an A+

Overall Anne was wonderful. She prepped and painted two upstairs bedrooms. She was meticulous with her spackling and was careful not to get any paint on the rugs, a very professional job, and if painting again i would definitely ask for her.

Dean arrived a little late due to incorrect address. He was professional and very capable in performing what needed to be done.

We have used the Mr. Handyman Team for numerous projects and each time we are more impressed with the quality of service and the care for us as customers. On this occasion we contracted the Mr. Handyman Team to replace two old and damaged ceiling fans. Our home is old and was previously maintained by an unskilled do-it-yourself owner so every time that we attempt to have a project completed we encounter some additional problems. Mike from the Mr. Handyman Team was GREAT. He arrived on time (as usual) and he completed the project as requested but he went over and above to ensure that our home was safe after he noticed some unsafe wiring in a light switch that controlled the ceiling fan in our son's room. The Mr. Handyman Team has proven to be our most reliable and trusted source for our Home Improvement needs. I work very hard Monday thru Friday and have zero time or desire to work on home repair projects on the weekends. I have been very happy to have finally found a contractor that I can trust to consistently get the job done. We have recently contracted the Mr. Handyman Team to help with some Deck Repairs and once again Mike did his usual GREAT job and was on time and very professional. Thanks Mr. Handyman we will see you again soon !!!

We couldn't ask for a better experience. Michael was on time, courteous, and professional. He worked with us to prioritize tasks, and did a first-rate job on every item. It's great to have a reliable company close by that can help with the endless tasks in maintaining a home. We are already planning our next service call.

Carl was great. He arrived on time and was very professional. He installed the drop ceiling and also gave me a suggestion for how to handle a crawl space access door. He appears to be very knowledgable about all aspects of home repair and maintenance.

Based on my measure of the rough opening they purchased a high quality unit, arrived on time, and did a very professional job of installing it. They were very careful to protect all the surrounding areas of the house, covering floors, stairs, etc. All debris was removed and the area left clean. The work took about six hours, which was two more than the initial estimate, however it was done by one person and most contractors would have used two. Thus it was still a good price for the result. This is not the least expensive provider, but overall we feel the price was competitive. The quality of the result is unmatched.

David came the first time exactly on time. He was unable to finish the job the first time because he needed a taller ladder. He returned another day on time and finished the work. David (and Mike) were fabulous!! Expensive but worth every cent!

I could not be happier with my experience with this company. From the moment I contacted them, everyone I spoke to was helpful, professional, and nice. Anne, who helped me figure out what I needed and schedule the work, was such a nice person that I instantly felt as though I was calling friends to help me rather than hiring strangers. The company was able to schedule the work I needed done for the very next day, even though it wasn't an emergency at all. Michael was the gentleman that arrived to do the actual work and was fantastic. He discussed all of the projects with me, helped with things he really didn't need to help with (light bulbs, clean up, etc.), was a really nice and friendly person, and did a beautiful job on everything. He was even patient and tolerant with my excitable dog. Yes, the work was a little on the expensive side (though within the normal bounds - it took 5 hours of work and they provided some of the parts in addition to labor costs), but entirely worth it. I know I will call this company again if anything comes up. Thanks guys!

I previously hired Mr. Handyman to replace damaged ceiling tiles in my laundry room, as mentioned in an earlier review. After my roof was repaired I had them come back to re-do my kitchen ceiling as well. As before I had a great experience - I specifically requested Mike, who had done the initial job, and he again worked efficiently and with attention to detail to complete the job. I will continue to call on Mr. Handyman when the need arises.

They did ok, but I think it may have taken to long for the project, and the price was a little high (since they work by the hour). They also came back to put up crown molding, and they didn't seem to be that knowledgable.

Dave from Mr Handyman arrived on time, that's a good first impression. I had along list of odd jobs that accumulated throughout the years waiting for him. He took the list put on his booties and got to work. Later he gave me a time & price check (who does this?). I had a few more things that need to be completed at a number that was OK for me. I am very pleased with the work that was done and the fact that everything was clean when he finished. Dave was very respectful and even showed me how to handle a few things myself. I would certainly use this company again.

Mr. Handyman arrived punctually for the scheduled appointment. I needed a bathroom door reversed and re-hung so that it would open out and to the left rather than in and to the right. The door had already been removed. I guess I didn't realize that this is a time-consuming job, so it took the entire one and a half hours that I had pre-scheduled (they bill by time, not job). The handyman was pleasant and helpful, but it took longer than I expected. Since it didn't require much in the way of additional parts, it seemed a bit expensive.

Other than the handyman arriving an hour late, the service was good. I did personally feel that he could have worked a little faster. Since I didn't anticipate it would take as long as it did to have these repairs completed, I was a little suprised at the fnal tally of the bill.

From my initial phone conversation with the owner David to the actual drywall work completed by Gregg and the painting by Ann this was one of the best customer service experiences that my wife and I have ever been a part of. I placed an inquiry for an estimate on Tuesday 10/11 via e-mail, David the owner called me the next day to discuss our project and provide me with an estimate. The appointment was set for Saturday the 15th between 8 and 8:30am. The Tech Gregg arrived at our home promptly at 8:15, we reviewed the pending project and he determined that our initial desired wish of tiling the wall beneath the drywall ceiling could not be completed due to the thickness of tiles. Gregg made a great suggestion to my wife and I to use a laminate sheet tile in place of the block tiles. He even helped us to find the different styles on the Home Depot website and my wife and I were even more amazed when he actually went with us to the store to help pick out the correct style, size, color and borders for the wall. Greg proceeded to complete the drywall and laminate jobs in a timely manner and he even gave me some tips on cutting drywall and laminates. After the drywall was completed we needed to have the area painted so on October 18th the Handyman company sent a very nice young lady named Ann to our home to paint and my wife was so impressed with the skill and care that Ann showed in painting our ceiling. We know that this company does work based on an hourly rate but it does not matter when they take the time to ensure that the customer is very satisfied. We have been searching a long time for a good trustworthy contractor to help with some minor jobs and we have finally found one. We have already had the Handyman Team come back to our home to install a utility sink in our basement, that job was also done with great care and expertise. We plan to use the Handyman Team many more times in the future. Thanks Angie's List for introducing us to another great company.

I hired Mr. Handyman to replace water-damaged tiles in my laundry room, and to take a look at similar damage in the ceiling of the kitchen which adjoins the laundry room. Mike showed up right on time with everything he needed for the job and worked efficiently to get everything done in two hours, including clean-up. He was friendly and personable, but more importantly he knew exactly what he was doing. Mike also quickly identified a relatively low-cost solution for replacing the non-standard ceiling panels in my kitchen, a job that had already stumped one contractor who had come over to give me an estimate but never returned my follow-up calls. I'll be scheduling that job with Mr. Handyman as soon as my roofing work is completed (to stop the source of the damage), and I plan on using them again as other needs come up. As someone who's not very handy myself I feel confident that I've found a place I can rely upon for a variety of jobs around the house.

Karl was great! He arrived on the agreed to date and time, and was immediately ready to start the work. He was thorough, efficient, and very knowledgeable. He easily going style together with his professionalism made me feel confident the window replacement job on the second floor would be done properly and go smoothly, which it did. I was very pleased that the whole job was completed in only 60% of the original estimated time. If I need something else done around my home in proper, efficient and cost effective manner, Mr. Handyman will be getting a call from me, Thank You Angie's List for turning me on to this great home owner's resource!!!!
