Mr. Handyman of S. Orange/Westfield/Scotch Plains & Metuchen

The workmen, his name was Michael, arrived promptly and did the work in a timely fashion. He was a very pleasant individual. I would glading call Mr. Handyman in the future for any other repair I made need.

It went very well. Michael, the technician was prompt, courteous and professional.

I received an estimate and the job wound up being more involved than the estimate accounted for. The increase in price was fair, given the difficulty. A competitor's price was higher to start with, but even after Mr. Handyman increased its price it was still far less money than the competitor. The handyman provided good consultation and advice and I feel that, overall, I received good value.

I called Mr. Handyman on Wednesday, February 6 and set up an appointment for the following day. On Thursday, February 7,they called to let us know that they were running behind and gave us the option to reschedule. We did so, for Saturday, February 9 knowing full well that the weather could cancel that appointment. On Friday, February 8, they called informing me that a service man was in the area and could perform the work on this day. We accepted, they called when they were a half an hour prior to arrival. Gary, from Mr. Handyman, arrived at 11:30, looked over the job and told me it would be a two hour job. He carefully went over the time and price with me. The work was completed on schedule. Gary was professional, brought his own drop cloths, and due to the snow put on footies over his shoes so as not to track snow in the house. We found this very considerate. Upon completion he cleaned the work area. Overall, my wife and I were very satisfied with the response time and especially the work as it was completed as we had been told. Gary was neat, quick and completely professional. We are definitely going to consider Mr. Handyman for any future jobs.

Called the person in charge for an estimate for basement finishing. This work was started by my husband but he had to discontinue due to severe allergies. We had some transitions and trims left to be installed. I was given a quote if $150.00 for the first one hour $80.00 for the next half-hour increments until the job was done (!!). As I did not hire them, I cannot comment on their work.

This was my first experience with Mr. Handyman....and it will certainly not be my last! I was prompted to consult Angie's list after receiving an estimate from another Handyman service (not on the list). The other service was very prompt and courteous at delivering the estimate....but the estimate was high enough for me to get another quote. I'm certainly glad I did! (One note...I haven't heard from the other service since...so much for followup!). With this Mr. Handyman franchisee (DBA D&M Ambinder LLC) every customer "touchpoint" (from estimate to follow-up call) was handled with professionalism and courtesy. Their pledge of "On Time...Done Right" was fulfilled...and then some. To that motto...you might even add "no surprises." The estimate was done the same day as my call. They measured the work area and (at my request) purchased all the materials for me to be sure everything would fit correctly. When scheduling changes necessitated a change in technician, I received a call to let me know the new person that would be entering my home. The labor estimate was right on the money...and the service tech (Dean) worked without break for four hours (despite my offer for coffee/water/food) to keep it as promised. One service tech...4 hrs from start to finish! (The other bid said it was a "2 person job"...and would take about 6 hrs). Dean made every effort was made to keep the work area clean. (When a member of the Handyman team enters your home...either for estimate or to do work... they wear foot coverings.) Dean covered the work area (my second floor landing) with tarps and thoroughly cleaned up after himself...disposing of the old door/ladder combo for me (a reasonable extra charge). He removed the molding around the door opening...and replaced and regrouted after installation and customization of the door and ladder to be sure things fit snugly. He had all the tools he needed. In short...the only surprise for me....was that there were no (unpleasant) surprises!!! Would highly recommend.

Everything went very smoothly, from scheduling, to promptness, to courtesy from the worker. So far the job has worked out very well. They made a follow up call to check on it.

I called Mr Handyman on New Years Eve and they were able to send Dean to our home that same day. Dean arrived on time as promised and did a thorough investigation of both my dryer and my tenant's dryer to discover why neither was working properly. Dean took the time to explore all potential reasons why the dryer was not working properly in order to identify the solution. He not only ended up changing the dryer vents on each one but when he discovered water in one of the vents he even went up onto the roof (more than 40 feet high!). He discovered that both of the roof vents were clogged, cleaned them off and went the extra mile to put tar around one to ensure there was no possible leakage going foward. Dean was exceedingly courteous, pleasant, efficient and effectively solved the problem. We were extremely happy with his service and very comfortable having him in the house. This is the 3rd time we have used MR Handyman's services and although the price is a bit high, it's worth every penny to have great service and friendly, knowledgable service professionals come to the house. Mr Handyman knows that customer service is not dead!

It went very well. They kept me informed and called me to reschedule due to the storm. On the day of the appointment Dean showed up on time and finished the work promptly, efficiently.

I was very pleased with the service that was provided. Diego was the serviceman who did the work. I found him to be extremely friendly, and personable. I asked if I could watch what he was doing, so I'd be able to do it myself the next time. He happily consented, and "talked me through" each thing he was doing. The job was done quickly and he left the bathroom as clean as when he arrived. I would not only use the service again, but I would ask specifically for Diego

They did a great job! There was great communication. Good color match. I had another bid that was MUCH higher. I like their business model of where they let you know their hourly rates.

Dean did a great job trouble shooting and replacing the broken fixture and cleaned up the area before he left. I have used them in the past and will continue to do so in the future. Always prompt and on time.

Greg, the technician, showed up on time the scheduled morning and right away estimated the kind of repairs it should be done. The damaged on the siding were for part due to storm Sandy, but also to a poor design originated when the siding was first put on. In order to complete the job, which required some adjustment in length of the siding panels, Greg tried to call the company that makes the panels, but it turned out the company no longer existed.Luckily I had a few left over panels in my garage, that Greg managed to use. I was really happy it worked this way, or I would have to redo the entire siding.The job was tedious but Greg did it perfectly, up to the minor detail and when it was completed the siding looked like brand new. Greg not only was knowledgeable on this kind of job but also very creative in the way he managed to use the panels by switching them to the best fitting.Moreover, upon my request, he also fixed a corner of my front door. I am pleased to say that I would hire Mr Handyman again when I need them for any kind of job and probably very soon.

Gregg did an excellent job. He's talented at his craft and has a friendly personality to go with it. In hindsight, I could have lowered the cost by purchasing the drywall myself; but then, I might not have bought the right type of drywall. The job took longer than he first estimated, but Gregg was thorough and the result was worth the investment.

They showed up on time and took precautions when the weather turned rainy and windy and finished the job completely. They made the extra effort to find a door to my specifications and to locate the plexi-glass panels needed to maintain the room's brightness. They did all this in a very timely fashion (rather quickly, actually!) They definitely work to a high standard of excellence. I highly recommend them to anyone requiring a larger than average job.

A very positive experience with this company. We had some minor roofing/chimney damage due to hurricane Sandy. Most of the contractors were even not bother to call or said they were busy. Mr. Handyman proved "No Job is Too Small" ! We called the company on 11/13 and spoke to one of their technicians Bruce. He was very polite and explained how they work with clients by hourly billing. On 11/17, Greg came to my house and took him less than 3 hours to get everything done for us. We end up paying less than $250 which is about 1/2 of the amount we initially thought we would have to pay if using other contractors. We definitely will use them again in the future!

1 outlet was completely out of the wall, where cold air was coming in he insulated the area and no more leaks, now i will save on my monthly heating bills. was done by the time i was done at work. And so respectful and professional, he really took pride in doing a great job, he will be coming back next week

From the initial visit to provide the first estimate, until the end of this long project, the company was very professional. The technicians provided a daily summary of what work was done, and what work remained to be done for each segment of the entire project. The technicians were flexible to adjustments in the goals of the segments of the overall project. They cleaned up at the end of each day; so, I never had board my cats or worry about them getting exposed to anything toxic. There were never any surprises about what the costs were and they provided excellent references to local stores that provided discounts for purchasing supplies in bulk (e.g., doors and paint). The workmanship was excellent! The entire project went over 6 months, as I needed breaks for a vacation, two deaths in the family and some work uncertainties. The owners were patient and kept in regular contact with me. They made periodic visits to ensure that I was always satisfied with the work. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and I will consider them for future projects.

When I called Mr. Handyman, they promptly returned my call and walked me thru the process and pricing. Initially the pricing can be off putting, since the first hour is about $150, but then each hour thereafter is about $50. The handyman work, excluding the painting, cost about $1,000. I got estimates for most of the odd jobs I listed and each of those estimates came in at $300-$400 per job, so by my calculations, on the low end, it would have cost about $2,500 to do the same work thru other companies. The handyman they sent, Greg, was phenomenal. He was knowledgeable about all of the repairs I needed, worked fast and NEAT! I LOVE neat. It was all drama free. I didn't have to wait around for a no-show contractor or a local yokel handyman who takes two hours to change a drill bit. Greg came on time, worked hard and barely took a break. I was really impressed with the quality of workmanship and professionalism. Anne was my handywoman for the painting. The pricing for painting was handled a little differently as they charged $650 for a day rate. For $650 she painted my master bedroom with a vaulted ceiling and 2 closets. She was fast and did a lovely job. She also gave me some tips on color choices for other areas of my house. All in all, it was a great experience, and I would certainly use them again in the future.

Great! They're not inexpensive, but you get your money's worth. He arrived on time, we walked through my list, and he got down to business. He worked hard the whole time, and knocked out a lot of small projects. And cleaned up well afterwards. Will have him out again when I accumulate my next list of "to do's". . .

We have been letting our home maintenance list grow and grow for 3 years now. We called Mr. Handyman and 2 other handyman on Angie's list. Mr. Handyman answered the phone right away and Anne was very helpful and nice. Only Mr. Handyman was ready to start work immediately. One company we called didn't even call back. Mr. Handyman sent Diego who was absolutely fantastic! He was punctual, detailed oriented and took pride in his work. He was a true gentleman. Not only did Diego do a great job but he was great with my 2 year old son. My son would talk to him when playing outside and asked Diego a stream of unending questions. Diego would good naturedly and patiently answer them and engage him. He would also to be sure not to ring the doorbell when our son was napping. At the end of the day Diego would show me what was done and everything looked well done and neat. I was very happy. We have had Mr. Handyman come back 3 times to do more and more work. We will be calling them again shortly to whittle down our to do list. I can not say enough good things about Diego and Mr. Handyman!

I was told the cost would be $700.00 and at the most $800.00. I was told there was going to be two workers. Only one worker showed up and took longer than expected to complete. I brought my own stain to save money. The original worker took too long and wanted to come back and spend another four hours on the work. I requested someone else for the second day to do the staining. I will not use them again unless there is a fixed cost. Not by the hour.
