A&J Landscape Design LLC

A&J are an absolute joy to work with. They gave me a thorough estimate and did exactly what they said they would. The job took a bit longer than anticipated per rain delays but the end result was fantastic. Mine was a complex job that involved leveling a side yard and building a patio. As they had warned from the onset, there were some unexpected challenges once we broke ground but they always presented immediate solutions to every problem and still came in on budget. Thank you Joanne and Jonathan. We love our new patio and yard. :)

We were planning a major landscaping, grading and drainage project for our back and front yard. Jonathan was very professional in responding to a request to come and visit the property to get an idea of the project. We prepared by drawing out the back property and presenting photos of what we had in mind from Houzz.com to discuss landscaping, stone work and designs. Jonathan incorporated all of what we presented and also provided "lessons learned" from other projects to help steer us into our final decisions. He was open with issues and risks we could face in the future but always reinsured that the risks would be minimal or even avoided in the direction we took. Jonathan knew our budget and was able to stick to that budget. He also had to reach out to another service for assisting in a old tree stump removal, in which turned out great for us in the end as they were very reasonable in price with performing the work to keep the schedule on track, Bonus - now we have a good tree service. Jonathan was always present and actually running the work crew during the job so it was trust building as we were confident that the work was being done as designed. He has a really good team that I think would be able to work alone - he could take a small break :). The best part of the services is that Jonathan and Joanne were personal, when speaking with them it was a normal conversation with transparency. I would recommend them to family and friends. They are average. They are not bad. The interaction is good. This is the first year and the work is not bad. I'm not sure if I will continue to use them in the future.

The finished product turned out exactly as I wanted. The company is family owned with Jon handling the onsite work and Joanne doing the design and billing aspects. Jon is extremely competent and works in a collaborative manner. He is unusually patient and was willing to move bushes around in order to try out different arrangements. My job included removing and repositioning some railroad ties. Jon had an impressive array of tools with him so alterations to the ties were done on the spot. The job was done neatly and Jon (and his assistant Alejandro) took care to leave my property looking cleaner than when they arrived. The caveat with this firm is that both principals are 'hands on' which means one may have to wait for an appointment. If one has the time, the results are definitely worth the wait.

We were looking for limited services and they only do complete services. The cost was too high for us for the entire package.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and it was really easy to schedule with them. They did it by email, which was nice.

We wanted to have a low lawn service rate. I evaluated some other contractors & their proposals, and this company had the most comprehensive program. I hired them in Sept/ Oct. 2013 and we've been working with them since then. Their work ethic has been very good. There have been 2 issues with timing but it hasn't been that bad.

I would gladly hire A&J for future projects. Prices were fair and competitive and customer care is phenomenal. Ultimately for this project, it was important for us to also install a fence but this was not a service available through A&J. We selected a landscape contractor who could address the entire project.

I emailed this provider to get an estimate for reseeding my entire property on March 23. Joanne responded within a few days saying she would stop by my house durin the week to take measurements. I informed her I have two dogs so it would be best to setup an appointment. She assured me that was not necessary as she is dog friendly and would have no problem taking the measurements. A week plus pasted and I had not heard from Joanne so I sent another email on April 13 asking if she had taken the measurements. She apologized saying she had forgotten all about me and would be out to measure the property that week. As of today, April 25 - No measurements. No estimate. No further communication from Joanne. I can forgive an honest mistake if she had forgotten the first time. What's the excuse now? I know it's the busy season for your business but other landscaping companies have returned my calls and provided estimates for service. If you didn't want the business, or perhaps are too busy right now, you would have been better off just telling me that rather than "forgetting". I do not recommend using this contractor. She is unreliable and does not follow up on her commitments.

Very well run business. They're quick to respond, which I liked a lot. I sent them an email, and within minutes I had a reply from Joanne. They came to check the property for an estimate the same day. Once hired, they did a great job. They picked up all the leafs (about a truck load of them), and fallen branches from a very uncomfortable backyard. They even trimmed some of the bushes. Overall they surpassed my expectations.

I was calling a bunch of contractors for a landscape issue on a rental property of ours, and it's like pulling teeth to get a return phone call! Joanne called me back within 2 hours, and we just "clicked" from there! Her personality just drew me in! I had some ideas to fix my issues, but when she came out, she gave me some money saving tips, and really did an amazing job!

Because I am busy with work, I called the A&J Landscape office late on a Friday night intending to just leave a message and make contact. The Big Deal offer was for 4 hours of yard clean up for one price. Knowing I have a smaller-than-average-yard I asked how much an end-of-the-season cut might be in addition to the clean up. I left my address and yard dimensions noting that 4 hours was probably more than enough for my small property. Several days later I came home from work to a beautifully manicured and clean lawn. They did not charge me for the final cut which I appreciated and was also probably due to my small lot. I later realized that the company had left a message on my machine that I had not responded to. But they fulfilled more than expected promptly and it was extremely well done. I am very pleased with their work, would recommend them highly and use them again in the future (as my old knees can only do so much anymore!).

Wish there was an A+ because they would deserve it. Spectacular job. Spectacular service. Could not have been more professional or more of a pleasure to work with. Joanne is proactive and responsible--she always called me first, never had to try to hunt anyone down. We have had three yard services in the past and A&J beats the pants off of all of them. So happy to have found them!

Overall, they provided quality customer service. They told me what they would do and when and then they delivered. It was such a good value for my dollar that I want to use them again and again. They just seem trustworthy and providing a quality service that is working for my best interest. I am willing to pay for good service but I understand the value of my purchase better when the vendor expresses and delivers services that exceed my expectations.

Joanne emailed me right away to schedule the visit. Though I was hoping to get it done by Thanksgiving, there were a couple of delays due to peak season (all the leaves fell at once) and some rain but Joanne was always in touch to update me on the crew's schedule and upon completion. Once at my home, her crew went above and beyond what I paid for to make my front and back yard look pristine. Jonathan came back first thing the next day to replace a sprinkler head they'd inadvertently hit during the clean up without any question or hassle. My neighbor even texted me while I was at work to compliment me on how good my yard looked once the crew finished the job, and her husband is a retired landscaper who keeps his yard immaculate so that means a lot to me! Needless to say, I was excited to get home and see the result which made me quite happy and relieved that these guys took great care of my yard and I didn't need to worry about doing it myself with my difficult work schedule. I would definitely use them again for clean ups and my other landscaping needs. They were very professional and personable and kept me updated on how things were going so I would highly recommend them.

I hired A&J Landscape Design through an Angie's List Big Deal. They were very responsive and scheduled me for the following week. A full crew arrived and did an amazing, fast job in vacuuming all leaves from my lawn, berm and shrubs. I also asked them to trim a couple of runaway hollies (for an additional fee) and was told that they trim in the spring. When I came home, I found that they had also taken a little off the top of my hollies to make them look neater, at no charge! That is what I consider being professional and taking pride in your work. I would definitely hire them again and am considering them to do some re-landscaping in the spring.

Excellent service. A&J did exactly what they said they would do on time and on budget.

I bought a Big Deal for a fall clean-up for $99 and the company emailed me to say they'd get to me in the next three weeks. Apparently they're too busy to get to me any earlier. I wish I would have known that when I purchased the deal, by the time they get to me, I could have had the job done several times over by another company. I'm pretty annoyed that they would offer a deal when they're too busy to honor it.

A&J Landscape Design came by soon after I requested their services. They did an excellent job of leaf cleanup. My property is only 75' by 100', but there are 19 trees so leaf cleanup is a big deal. They did a thorough job and even trimmed the grass gratis to make the whole yard look perfect. They were quick, professional and gave more value than was necessary to complete the job.

It was fantastic. It has been great. They were phenomenal. They were the best company all around that I worked with and it is a small company. The prices were very good but not the best price and were competitive. The work is the best that I have seen and he is an artist. It is a couple Jonathan and Joanne and she does a lot of design for the landscaping. They did some serious work in our back yard. They installed 35 trees and she was spot on. The way I wanted to do would have been more expensive because it would have taken more trees and they advised me not to and they were honest. They told me how separated the trees needed to be to grow. He did incredible work and was here for a week. These guys were artists in its true nature. They were super nice. He was very friendly with my kids. What I liked is the owner was here with his workers doing the work. He was getting dirty with his employees and that means a lot. I did about 30 different quotes and some people are cheaper but not same quality of trees or quality of work. It was comparable and of lower range. They even cut me a good deal on the size of the trees and I don’t know how they managed to get the great trees. I would call them at any point and they will answer, even after hours and the phone will not go to voice mail and one time it did but I got a call in five minutes and their responsiveness is great. They actually followed up coming to check out the work sometime after to make sure everything is fine. It was these little details that you won’t see anywhere else. They gave me an end date and they finished three days earlier.

They did reach out, they attempted to give an estimate, and when they couldnt they were honest and callled me...

A&J has always been responsive and friendly they won my business at the beginning by being very responsive to inquiries and friendly. Joanne in the office always responds quickly to emails and the one time I had an issue with performing services I did not request, they made it right on the bill without a fuss. They have been reliable and I would certainly recommend them.

EXCELLENT SERVICE! I recently injured myself and realized that I wasn?t going to be able to handle taking care of my yard this year on my own. I contacted a number of landscaping companies in the area and I am happy that I signed up with A&J Landscape Design. Joanne from A&J is very friendly, responsive, and professional. The day after I called, she emailed a proposal/estimate for cleaning and maintaining our yard for the year. (By comparison, a number of the other landscaping companies that I contacted were not as responsive - some took days to send me an estimate, some never sent an estimate at all (even after a couple of calls), and some just told me that they weren?t taking on any new business.) The proposal Joanne sent was very reasonable and included a number of standard services that I would typically do myself throughout the year, such as a Spring cleanup, lawn treatments (pest, fertilizer, etc.), weekly maintenance, and Fall cleanups. The proposal also listed a few additional/optional services that could be performed upon request. Nothing in the proposal was excessive or outlandish. (By comparison, some of the proposals that I received either didn?t include services I specifically requested or ?suggested? expensive redesigning of my yard.) After receiving a few estimates (some higher and some a little lower than A&J for the weekly maintenance), I decided to go with A&J based on the positive reviews that I saw on Angie?s List, Joanne?s responsiveness/friendliness, and the reasonable proposal that I received. A couple of days after signing the proposal, the A&J crew came out to do the Spring cleanup. I didn?t really know what to expect because (1) I?ve never used a landscaping service before and (2) the yard didn?t look too bad to me - so I wasn?t sure what exactly they would clean up. However, I looked out the window a few times when the crew was here and noticed that they were much more thorough than I have ever been. For example, they cleaned out all the leaves between bushes, cleaned out the back and side of my shed that is on the corner of my property, did all the edging, weeding, etc. After the crew left, I realized how clean my yard looked and how much work actually needed to be done! The A&J crew was also really friendly and considerate when they were here. One of the crewmembers came to the door and asked a few questions about our garden and planter/tree borders to make sure that they were cleaning and applying the proper treatment to those areas. Also, I went outside at one point and everyone turned down their mowers and blowers to say ?hello? and waited until I was out of the way before turning the equipment back up. I?m very happy that I signed up with A&J. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for great all around service at a reasonable price.

I called to make an appointment. I had to keep calling to see when Joanne would show up. She rang my doorbell & by the time came downstairs she was off to another appointment. She didn't have time to meet with me nor was she interested. It was like she was interviewing me instead of me interviewing her. She E-mailed me a price list which seemed a little high. I didn't hire her.
