The tech was great. He was only here for the air conditioner(cost of this is a guess). We mentioned that we knew that the furnace filter needed to be changed as we had not done it in 2 yrs(usually we buy it directly from their store). He had 1 on his truck. He installed it for us also & saved us the trip to the store. Price of this filter not included in cost of service. We had our furnace & air conditioner installed by Alpine 15 yrs ago. & have always been pleased with the service we receive from them whenever we have a problem which thankfully is rare.
Description of Work: Tech charged air conditioner. Also, replaced badly needed air filter on furnace & checked humidifier which is connected to the furnace.

I had met with several highly rated companies, just like Alpine but when I met Ken it was clear to me that I had found the best of the best. I had a lot of questions for Ken and he patiently addressed them all in detail and went above and beyond not only explaining each piece of equipment, but how each worked, the efficiency they would bring to my home and the overall installation process. I was impressed with Kens expertise and called the owner soon after Ken left to set up an installation date. Art, the owner, also patiently answered all my questions promptly and ensured I understood the process. Ken and his team did an absolutely impressive job with the installation of my gas furnace, humidifier, water heat and air conditioner. The level of detail and amount of work that was invested in ensuring that each piece of equipment was installed correctly was apparent. The installation looked very detailed and neat, Ken spared no detail and went above any beyond. They all took their time to ensure the job was done correctly and I was given updates periodically. At the end, my basement looked better than I could have ever imagined. Not only did the equipment look professionally installed but they cleaned up and left my property in a very neat condition. The entire team worked non-stop, very, very hard and were all very respectful. When the job was done, Ken took the time to go over each equipment in detail and I was astounded at the workmanship. Ken also gave me a few maintenance tips, which as a layperson I appreciated. Ken was truly exceptional to work with and I had a terrific experience. Its been a few days after the installation and with this weather I've had to put both the heat and AC on this week and both worked beautifully. Art was involved every step of the way including calling me the same day the job was completed to thank me and answer any questions once again showing his genuine commitment to customer service. The office processed my permit requests and efficiency equipment rebates, something no other company offered to do for me! Needless to say, I couldn't be happier with Alpine as this is truly an outstanding company and in specific, Ken was really terrific. I signed on to there 5 year protection program because I wouldn't trust any other company to service my equipment. I highly recommend Alpine Refrigeration for all HVAC needs and while I'm sure all sales managers at Alpine are very qualified, I strongly recommend Ken.

This was an emergency visit because my furnace stopped working on a Sunday. They returned my call and made a service call very promptly and diagnosed the problem. They implemented a work around that allowed the furnace to function on Sunday. The next day they returned and replaced the burner switch. As always, they were prompt, courteous and professional. This service was included for free as part of my annual service contract.

My furnace went dead at 2/13 Saturday, the coldest day since winter. Outside temp was at ZERO fahrenheit degree. Alpine wasn't opened over the weekend so I didn't call them until Monday morning. Because it was so freezing in the house, I called the other repairing shop ("so-called many good reviews in Google Map" ) during weekend, bad decision/move!!! From that move, I see how bad a business image could be ruined and how unprofessional that shop's technician/advisor are. That would be my another review. Due to so many houses in the area went down over the weekend, Alpine sent in a technician around Monday noon which is fully understandable. Young Troy went into basement without stop or making social conversation. He went right to furnace, opened the panel, examined the problem and concluded that the inducer motor is dead and should be replaced. But, instead of standing up to write the service report and give me the bill as other shop's technician did, he started to pull off the motor and I asked what you were doing. He replied he can't see no heat in this house at this weather so he is gonna to try his best to revive the motor and see if it would run for the time being. Inducer motor cranking up and making loud noise but no ignition in pilot and no heat. He said it's dead and not much he could do. So, he went to his truck and called office to order the parts. After 15 minutes, he came back to basement with an oil lubricant and told me he would try the very last time and see how it goes. I got to admit that I was so impressed by his professionalism and dedication that put customer's problem as his priority, not try to sell other additional parts or services. The motor magically works! Got the heat back in house. He warned it won't last long and their technician will be back soon to replace the motor. After he left a while, the inducer motor stopped again which is totally expected and understandable. Two days later, the other two technicians came and replaced the motor within 15 minutes. Since then, the furnace runs no problem at all. I really thank them for their professionalism and attitude, as well as their fair price on the replacing that faulty inducer motor. Definitely recommended!!!
Description of Work: Alpine replaced the faulty inducer motor then furnace works again.

Thank you for your review. Unlike other companies, our Technicians are not paid on commission and always try to fix the problem, rather than sell a new unit, upgrades or other things. We do offer Emergency Service on the weekends. Next time, feel free to leave a message and someone will get back to you. We do not like customers to go without heat for a weekend!

I originally heard about this company from an estate sale client of mine in highland park . Initially when we were staging the basement with the thousands of items the quality of the boiler installation caught my eye.here I have a previous HVAC background . I asked the owner to do the work and they said Alpine out of South River . I had no real interest in getting a boiler at that time because I have a furnace at my house . Then another state so that I conducted in Highland Park New Jersey after the sale is done I decided to make the offer on the house to the existing owners . The house had a 60-year-old boiler and I was not interested in keeping the oil system .

They communicated well. The technician took the time to troubleshoot, check and adjust the flame of the furnace since it was acting up. This reduced our heating bill. The technician also took the time to explain and I never felt he was rushing compared to other technicians from other companies.

Called several plumbers to get a price on a new gas water heater and Alpine gave us the best price, plus they had great reviews on Angies List. Called Robin on Tuesday 12/8/2015 and they had an opening the next day on 12/9/15. The plumber showed up exactly when he said he would be at the house. Removed the old tank and installed the new tank in record time. Spent as much time as I needed to go over instructions on how to operate the new tank. When they were finished and the old tank was removed from the basement, the basement was cleaner than when they began work. I would highly recommend Alphine for any plumbing needs. Very professional and polite. Will use them in the future for any plumbing needs. It's nice to get work performed by people who enjoy there job and don't try to rip you off. Thanks Alpine for a job well done.

I called when our water heater needed replacing. The owner is familiar with our community so he knew what type of equipment was needed. He quoted a fair price and said his workers would be there the next day. They were on time, efficient and professional. I used Alpine in 2010 at my previous residence. They were my third quote and came in several thousand less than my other two quotes and for a much upgraded HVAC system. I was so pleased I referred to 2 other friends who had their systems replaced as well. Very pleased. Will definitely use them again.

I have been using Alpine for over 17 years! I would NEVER EVER use a different company! Why mess with perfection! They installed my heating and air system over 17 years ago and have been back for a ton of stuff since. Anytime I call they always come within a reasonable time frame. The lovely woman that answers the phone is always so pleasant, nice and accommodating. The techs are amazing!! I always get the same ones! That goes to show you how long the employees stay with the company! They are so prompt, polite, helpful and very very patient! They always explain exactly what they are doing and what information I need. I highly recommend this company if you want perfect service and pricing!! Thanks Alpine!! :)

The process was seamless, starting with the free estimate as well as the installation. The owner Arthur and his staff answered all of my questions which allowed me to weigh my options and make the best choice. I chose Alpine because of their reputation and knowledge, they did not disappoint me. The installation took two days and it was completed timely by Ken and Troy in a very professional and friendly manner. My installation was not a simple replacement and it did require a few modifications. Troy and Ken completed all of the modifications which were done very neatly. They tested the equipment and explained the different features to me, making it so easy to use the system and its features. Alpine exceeded my expectations and did it at a very reasonable price. I would like to add that I did receive three estimates prior to choosing Alpine.

I contacted Alpine for replacing my water heater in Feb 2015. We have a service contract (preventive basic for the furnace) with them. I contacted Robin from Alpine and she quickly emailed me the information for two water heaters with their installation cost. I decided to go with the 50 Gallon Standard Hot Water Heater (.58 efficiency). The service guys were very prompt and came immediately and replaced the water heater. Excellent experience and I definitely recommend them !

We have used Alpine for the last 35 years for spring and fall tune ups to our a/c, furnace and most recently to our water heater. Several years ago Alpine replaced our air conditioner. We have been satisfied in every respect over the many years. Every one is knowledgeable, pleasant, and always attentive to our needs. Recently, our air conditioner stopped working, and Brian, our technician, came in with a smile as he always does, diagnosed the problem and returned the next day with the missing part, as promised. Alpine, keep up your winning formula.

We love Alpine! They have been with us through the installation of our whole house generator on the morning of Hurricane Sandy through our house addition two years later. They are a Super Service Provider on Angie's List and they are well deserving of the title. Art, Robin and our technician, Brian, are very attentive to our needs and we are more than satisfied. You won't go wrong with purchasing any equipment through Alpine. They are not a quick sell company and then you can't get them to help you and service your product. They provide excellent customer service and respond very quickly to every inquiry. We purchas a yearly service contract through them each year to make sure that we have smooth sailing and address any issues with our equipment before they need expensive repairs. Alpine had their techs show up the morning of Hurricane Sandy (it was still safe to be out and about) and hooked up our whole house generator that had been sitting at the side of our home waiting for a permit from our town. We got the permit on Friday afternoon and, knowing the hurricane was coming, called to see if they could hook it up. They were here at 7:00 a.m. and hooked up the generator panel, and we lost power for 6 days, but were warm and toasty, with electricity, and could provide a haven for all our neighbors for charging their electronics, providing a warm and light place to stay' and, so they wouldn't lose all their frozen foods, we cooked up everything they brought over that wouldn't fit in our extra freezer and enjoyed communal meals all week long with our neighbors. All because of Alpine! We thank you and so do our neighbors! We have referred many of them to Alpine's services.
Description of Work: The service we received from Alpine was part of a service contract we purchase each October for our equipment that was installed by Alpine in 2012. Alpine came to provide our Spring tune-up for our A/C and oil change for our generator. We purchase a service contract each year with Alpine for Spring and Fall Tune-ups for our A/C, furnace, filters, humidifier and generator. Great service, priority appts. Great provider !

This install could not have gone any better from soup to nuts. First off let me say that we had 4 or 5 quotes. Alpine's quote was right in line with the others. However Alpine was going to install Lennox systems. To me Lennox are the best of the best when it comes to heat and air systems. Arthur Staloff - President of Alpine spent more time with my wife and I explaining exactly what we needed and what Alpine could do for us than any other contractor.. There was no high pressure sales presentation just the facts explained in great detail. Answered all of questions and than some. We were very comfortable and felt Art really knew his business inside and out. As for some details, our house is a Colonial with the attic on the second floor surrounding the upstairs bedrooms so for the 15 yrs we have lived here we needed to use window units upstairs to cool those rooms. Tthe old central air system was not able to cool the upstairs . Art told me these units were much more efficient and if we put a thermostat upstairs for cooling and one downstairs for heat in the winter, that would solve our problem of needing window units in the summer. I can tell you that we no longer use the window units and our upstairs is working just fine and very comfortable. As an added bonus, at least this first month, it does appear we are saving money on utilities also. From the time we agreed to go with Alpine, their team was able to move some things around and actually were able to come before the date we agreed upon. The two main techs Ken and Troy couldn't have been nicer or more professional. They answered all of our questions, their work was excellent and they finished on time. Of all the contractors we have used over the years these guys were as good if not better than any we have ever used. There were two other guys who came for a couple hours over two days to help with the duct work but I do not remember their names. However, they were the same, very professional, and did excellent work. I am so happy with the job that Alpine did for us, if anyone reading this review wants to call me with any questions just call Art at Alpine and he will give you my number. If you are looking to replace your systems, get all the quotes you want from other companies but make sure you call Alpine to provide you a quote and explanation of what they can do for you. We live in a world where contractors get a bad name by not calling customers back, doing shabby work, not showing up on time and not doing proper clean up. If you want a reliable company and want to avoid the issues above, get excellent equipment installed please use the services of Alpine. You will be very glad you did. A great family owned company and in business for over 40 yrs. I am a very satisfied customer and if you would like more info feel free to get my number from Art and give me a call.

Art came in and walked through the house with me. He's very knowledgeable and provided a quote to me the same day. It's not the lowest quote I got, but I like detailed job description Art provided and he was pleasant to talk to. I decided to give it a try. They sent 4 crew team worked 2 days. The work is decent and they are all very professional. Overall I am happy with the work. Two months later, I got a surprise today when I received a letter stating I need to pay the permit fee, which is $280. What really upset me is that I had a clear conversation with Art about the total payment. For anything I get, I always discuss the out-of-pocket cost. I never want to be caught by hidden fees. I called the office, but was told to check the written proposal, which I did not find anything about the permit fee. I don't mind pay more up front. As I stated before, Art's quote was not the lowest. I just don't want to be told in one thing and get in another. I truly believed what I was told, but now I am disappointed.

Permit fee's vary by township and reviewer. East Brunswick charges $21.37 for a water heater permit we have been charged close to $300.00 in Edison for the same permit. To be fair to our clients we have in red print on page two of our proposals that permit and variance fee's are paid by the customer. This way they only pay the amount due and we do not have to guess at the fee's and add some buffer to be safe. [Member Name Removed] saved money paying the fee direct with no add ons. We have followed this process for over 10 years and most clients are appreciative. at the time of the estimate it is our policy to review the written contract with the client and cover all the details . we then follow thru with a typed copy by e-mail or post asking if there are any questions before they sign or go a head at that time [Member Name Removed] had called with many questions but never made mention of the permit fees. I am sorry that was not clear to him ART

The rep showed on time, took a look around and then provided us with (2) computer printed estimates. Apparently the estimates are prepared before they leave the shop so I'm not exactly sure why this couldn't be provided via telephone. The strange part was that the unit was sized smaller than any other quote I received and other companies had performed load calculations. I called the company the next day and spoke with the owner (Arthur I think) and when I questioned the size of the unit I heard about how long he has been doing this etc... etc... He did explain the reasoning behind the size and raised some good points on other questions. He seems to be very knowledgeable in the field. There were a few things that steered me away from this company - 1) the estimates prepared before seeing the job site, it great they have been doing this for 40 years and know the area but people do make changes to their homes. They did not ask if the existing system was getting it done 2) Attention to detail, the rep turned my thermostat off when checking my existing system and failed to turn it back on before he left. 3) More fine print in the paperwork as compared to others 4) extra costs - dehumidifier was an add on, permit costs were an add on. Competitors offered more of a one stop shopping experience. I was recently contacted for a follow-up so this is what prompted my review.

Response from Alpine Heating and Cooling
Thank you for your feedback. It is always helpful to gain customer insight. First, our estimates are not “cookie cutter” or prefab computer documents. Prior to the estimate, our experienced team (40+ years and 27 years, each) reviewed your neighborhood and viewed your home in an effort to be prepared and provide you with something right away. This by no means indicates the estimate, sizing, products and options are not up for review, especially after we sees your home, the existing system, how it works, duct sizing and many other factors. We pride ourselves on heating and cooling homes, not just replacing the same sized equipment. Our techs and sales team are highly educated and sizing a system can be fairly complex. A system that is too large may allow the house to reach the desired temperature, but not control humidity making the climate uncomfortable. Many brands call units 3 1/2 ton and install 3 ton or smaller compressors. The use of a variable speed blower and TXV valve reflect the system capability. Factors such as insulation and adding an attic fan can make a big a difference as well. Our intent was to provide something in writing before we left, complete with contract terms, equipment, AHRI certification numbers, warrantees, rebates scheduling, etc. We also include options for homeowners on a budget, or for those who may not want to include add-ons, like a humidifier at the time. Permit fees are exactly what the town charges – we do not include fees in the estimate, as every town and every job is different. This helps us avoid inflating a price to the customer. We have nothing to do with the fees assessed and collected, and in some cases fees are waived for seniors, and township employees and volunteers. We are sorry we never had the opportunity to speak to you in person, as your wife was home at the time. We did try several times to follow up and discuss the proposal, our findings and your thoughts. We wish you the best and thank you for the feedback.
