They were very nice; they left everything clean, and they worked all day. I  have no complains about them. They charged us very good price and they arrived earlier than the scheduled time.

When I contacted Julio he called me right away and came to my house the next day with an estimate. I was very impressed with Julio and his team, he gave me an estimate and was right on par with it. Julio and his team redid my pavers in my backyard and also put new pavers on my side walkway and my front walkway. He also installed a new drainage system to keep all the water away from my house. Julio and his team installed a retainer wall around my pool in the backyard.  I originally contacted Julio in July in regards to building the wall but couldn't afford the price at that time.  Still I reported on Angie's list how impressed I was with Julio and would have hired him but just couldn't meet his price at that time.  Well I am even more impressed now.  Days after that conversation Julio called me back and met my final price and started working on my retainer wall within two weeks.  Julio is truly a man of his word.  He always returns your calls in a timely manner.  He explained everything from beginning to end.  He started the work when he said he would and finished a day earlier than expected.  Julio's team worked very hard from 8am - 6pm daily in some of the hottest weather.  They were punctual, pleasant, professional and hardworking.  The wall is beautiful...better than I expected. My neighbors can't stop talking about it.  When the work was done they cleaned up everything thoroughly.  It was a pleasant experience.  No complaints.  A few days later though I noticed a chip on two of the pavers and called Julio.  No problem.  A few members of his team came back within the week and replaced them at no charge.  I would not hesitate to re- hire Julio and his team at all for future projects.  They made the grueling experience of hiring an unknown contractor a pleasant one.  I was very satisfied!

Everything went even better than expected from start to finish.  Julio called to set up a free estimate within minutes of me sending him an email.  We then met him at our new house the day of our closing where he was very patient with us and provided us with very detailed explanations of everything he planned on doing.  He gave us a very fair price and, luckily, he was able to fit us into his schedule and start work two days later on a Wednesday.  We explained to him that we were going to be moving some things into the house throughout the week and that on Saturday we would need everything clear because we'd be bringing the moving truck.  He assured us that unless it rained he would be done by Friday with everything except the plants since he wanted us to choose them first.  We were skeptical but trusted him and we're so glad we did!  By Wednesday evening everything had been cleared out (both the old hardscape and landscape), by Thursday evening the job was more than halfway done (even though it rained for part of the day), and by Friday evening it was all done to perfection.  Saturday was our move and Sunday morning Julio, his son, and one other worker met us at a local nursery to pick out our plants and everything was planted and mulched within a couple hours.  Everyone who has seen the transformation is impressed (including our new neighbors) and we owe it all to Julio and his entire team as they really worked their butts off and did an incredible job.  In the future we plan on installing a patio in our backyard and Tun Tun Construction will definitely get the job!

In my search for a contractor to upgrade my driveway - from black top to longer lasting pavers - I found Tun Tun Construction with rave reviews posted from very satisfied customer.  I placed a call in the morning to Julio (founder/owner of Tun Tun).  He agreed to come by immediately on the very same day – which confirmed the reviews posted by many of his customers. During our meeting, Julio was not only friendly and but also highly professional in explaining to me the many options that I may wish to consider.  In my gut, I sensed an honest person who is undoubtedly proud of his skills but, even more importantly, reasonable with his pricing and advice. All of this immediately gave me a good idea as to what I am getting and who I am dealing with.  It should be noted that I did receive a couple of quote pre-Julio and one post-Julio.  None of these 3 quotes were comparable to the pricing and/or detailed explanation I had received from Julio.  As a result, I negotiated and awarded the job/task to Julio – even though I had to wait about 90 days (3 months) for him to begin the assignment.  Julio explained that he was quite booked.  However, he assured me that he would begin the work on the date contained in his quote.  On my part, even though I would like to see my driveway replaced, I am more than willing to wait for something good to happen in the future … than be disappointed and not get the quality and value for the job done sooner by less qualified and/or decent contractor.  I was most impressed to see Julio’s presence from Day 1 - when Tun Tun Construction began the assignment – to the very end.  As a matter of fact, instead of simply replacing the existing blacktop driveway with pavers, I had expanded Julio’s assignment to not only completing the patio in the back but also create a “wall” in the front and another in the back with wider concrete slabs to accommodate and seat at least 40 people!  What I found to be MOST AMAZING is the fact that each day Julio would personally conduct quality control.  In a particularly noteworthy instance, he found minor crack in one of the bricks located near the bottom of the wall.  Despite the fact that bricks above have been installed and the seating slab installed and firmed (by strong epoxy), he ordered his staff to replace not-noticeable cracked stone – despite having to dismantle the top seating slab and a number of wall stone below in order to reach and replace the defective stone (which normal eyes would not have noticed such a crack unless one would visually inspect at close range).  Last, but not least, Julio should not be the only one to receive this “credit” for a job really well done!  His entire team – including his son – are all to be commended.  They worked tireless in over 90+ F heat wave we’ve experience in NJ over the past ten days.  They worked from morning  at 8AM– till evening (not leaving until their objectives were met … at 7pm or as late as 8pm!  This team is simply INCREDIBLE!  I would not hesitate for one second to either recommend Julio/Tun Tun Construction but also have him return for other assignments I have in mind (in my budget) for the near future.

I contacted Julio to get an estimate on a retainer wall I wanted built around my pool.  He explained to me in detail what it would take and how much everything would cost.  I had a prior estimate from another company which I thought was good.  Julio's price was higher but he took me through each step and explained why.  He was very honest, polite and seemed to care.  I didn't feel like he was just trying to get more money.  I absolutely would have used him but just couldn't afford it at this time.

We contacted 4 companies and eventually narrowed our decision to 2. We ultimately decided to go with Tun Tun Construction for the following reasons: 1) Julio always returned our phone calls and emails promptly 2) we requested to meet with him a couple of times to go over plans, ideas, etc. and he always showed up when he said he would 3) he had the best price 4) he was able to provide references whom all spoke very highly of him and his workers.  Not only did we speak to his references over the phone, but for those that lived local, we also went to see the work his company had done. Once the project started, Julio was at our house every morning to let us know what they would work on for the day.  At the end of every day, he went over what was completed and always asked if we were satisfied. If there was something we didn’t like (which wasn’t alot), he was more than willing to make it the way we wanted. Customer Satisfaction is his #1 Priority! His staff worked 10-12hr days, including weekends, to ensure the project would be completed as planned. They even worked Memorial Day weekend!  Julio and his staff were polite, respectful and always professional. We are more than satisfied with the way everything turned out and haven’t had any problems with water in our backyard with the new drains they installed.  We are getting nothing but compliments. We would not hesitate to call Tun Tun Construction for future landscaping projects and would definitely recommend them to others! 

After 5 years of talking about it, my husband and I finally decided to start the search for someone to build our dream patio.  High expectations and lot of information to sort thru for the right company had caused us to keep putting this off.   But after joining Angie's List and speaking to 2 other contractors, I knew that Julio (owner) was the right way to go.. He listened to what we wanted, made observations and sensible suggestions that the others didn't even think of, and was able to start within weeks.  Our home was immediately teaming with the hardest workers I have ever seen.  After 3 days of results, we decided to shoot for additional work.. So the entire job took 6 days.. But it was well worth it.  They even created french drains to avoid future  issues with the existing gutters pouring over the patio and included another gutter for good measure.    Julio Jr. was on the job every day and gladly answered any questions I had.. Julio Sr visited the project to make sure that things were running smoothly (which they were).  The crew stayed past 6pm some days and left as swiftly as they came in, working just as hard in the 110 degree temps.   At the end of the project, they cleaned up all the messes and made sure we were happy with the job.   He guarantees the work for a year but if  the labor, time and thought  they put into this job was any indication, we should be in great shape.. Thanks to all the Tun Tun crew.. You guys were great and we look forward to this summer on our new patio!  And thanks to Angie's list for making the selection process that much easier.

Had a fantastic experience with Julio, his son and the rest of the Tun Tun team. From start to finish, they were a true "partner" on our project, going the extra mile in every single way. Whether it was helping us to pick the type of paver we liked, setting up a scheme for us, working diligently around our schedule, meeting our timeline, and being our friend throughout this process. Julio is extremely spontaneous, always getting back to us almost immediately when we call or text him. To top it off, Julio is very funny and has a very energetic, kind and accomodating personality, which makes him very likeable and easy to work with. He always takes the opinion that "the customer is always right" and he shows this in his actions. His prices are fair and reasonable. I will definitly go back to Julio and his team any time I have further work to complete. An A+++ experience in every way.

I first contacted Julio as the spring contracting season was heating up. He actually answered the phone and arrived when he said he would, unlike a couple other contractors I had reached out to. Once we agreed on the project and budget, he was swamped with work, and the weather wasn't cooperating, but he did a good job of communicating a projected start date. He showed up with the crew on a Sunday morning and started work. From there, other than a day lost to rain, and the delay waiting for the footing inspection, they worked straight through to the finish the following Monday. Not sure how many contractors work through the weekends like this, but i was impressed. Julio was on the job site every day, and even when he stepped away, was extremely responsive. Julio was extremely flexible through the entire project, and did everything i asked -- and then some. He even took me in the truck to pick up topsoil and mulch to finish the front and back yards. I was planning on spreading it all myself, but the crew did it for me. He also had his crew set a handful of fence posts for me, another job I planned on doing myself -- and none of this was in our contract.  He also had the crew correct some grading and spread grass seed in the spot where the deck was. Now that the project is done, the job site is immaculate, and the job they did on the pavers is above what i was expecting. The project was completed for exactly the estimated price. I've used other companies to do this type of work, but the experience was nowhere near as positive as the one with Julio and Tun Tun. If you're looking to get this kind of work done, and are patient enough to get onto Julio's schedule, i would hire him again in a heartbeat.The pavers he used were from Capitol, and they are really nice.

My husband contacted Tun Tun Construction to see about getting an estimate for our patio. Julio was able to stop by that day and suggested we go to Capital Pavers in South Amboy to see some of his work and to choose the style/color pavers we would like. Once we decided we contacted Julio again and we set up a date to discuss our project in more detail. Julio helped us with ideas and contacted us as the time came closer that they could begin. They were able to start sooner than we expected-that was a nice surprise. :)Julio was here as the project began, told us what to expect each step of the way and kept in contact with us the entire week either by phone or in person. They began on a Monday and were completed-even with rain delays, by Saturday. Our patio looks FANTASTIC! Julio, his son, and his entire team were very professional.They also consulted us with any questions as they were working-rather than just doing it and hoping we liked it.Julio and/or his son were here each day we had work being done. He also corrected our gutter drainage problem, we just supplied the pipes, he corrected our uneven side walkway, so water would not pool, and helped us get our trees for behind our sitting wall. The men on his team are very skilled and paid close attention to details. They cleaned up everyday-not just at the very end of the project.This was a WONDERFUL experience! We would highly recommend using Tun Tun Construction and we plan to use them again for future projects. It was a pleasure to work with such knowledgeable and friendly people.

I tried all the rest and finally found the best.  Tun Tun Construction was responsive and professional from ownership to workers.
Julio reviewed what we wanted done and pointed out each area where water was settling.  After reviewing what we wanted done he made very sensible suggestions to expand and improve the overall patio without any pressure selling.  We agreed to go with all recommendations.
The crew arrive promptly on both days and finished the entire job on target.  They were very respectful of our property and did a great cleanup job.
Simply stated Tun Tun Construction is a great company made up of great people.

Julio was one of three estimates that we obtained for the work. Although the three estimates were within $500 of each other, Julio and his son were the most personable and professional of the three. Julio answered all our questions and made very helpful suggestions. Julio and his crew showed up on time and worked very hard throughout the 5 days it took to complete the project. The outcome was an amazing transformation and all the debrie was completely removed. Julio even texted me pictures throughout the project so I could see the progress while at work. The men were polite, professional, and very hard workers. We live on a street with many children walking to school, Julio and his crew were very aware of this and made sure that the path was clear and safe for the kids walking by. We have received many compliments on the work and definitely feel it was money well spent. We would recommend Julio to anyone.

Julio and his crew arrived around 8:30 a.m. and worked straight through until around 6:00 p.m.  They removed the shrubs, the tree, concrete and asphalt and removed it from the premises.  The started the driveway regrade and realignment.  My husband is handicapped, and before they left, Julio personally made sure that he could get in and out of the house without any difficulty.

The next day, they had most of the pavers laid.  They did not work the following day because it was a Sunday, but arrived bright and early on Monday morning.  They finished the borders, built the retaining wall, cleaned and raked the lawn where the pavers had been stacked, spread a load of topsoil and even reseeded.

Julio was a pleasure to work with and a man of his word.  He made suggestions, which improved the finished product, and even did a few extra things for me, i.e., removed an additional shrub, removed some existing landscape pavers and piled then neatly in the backyard for use back there.  I cannot say enough for his professionalism and would recommend him to anyone considering have pavers laid.

We wanted to spruce up our front walk, porch and back patio and interviewed 3 companies to do the work.   The company owner responded promptly to our request for an estimate, surveyed the requested work and provided ideas along with his estimate.  Based on those ideas and the agreed upon price, we selected his company.  Tun Tun workers arrived on schedule and completed the work, as promised, in 4 days.   They virtually transformed the walkways, porch and patio with the existing brick supply and added a creative design on the patio for a fantastic result.  We will definitely use this company again and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.   I apologize if I seem overly enthusiastic, but am still reeling at the effects!!

It was a little rocky at the start, the crew came out to do layout but there were weather delays that pushed things back and I was anxious to get started.  Once the project was underway and the full crew was in I was amazed by how hard and long they worked in the summertime heat.  It was a big job so the crew was around for a pretty long time.  My back yard was a complete mess because of all the excavation needed to install proper foundations.  Once the foundation work was done, things came together pretty quickly and you could see the progress every day until it was finished.

Julio and the crew will work with you to make sure you end up with what you want.  My work started with an architects plan that I already had prepared for zoning approvals.  They kept to the plan but pointed out some minor changes and an attention to the finishing detail that led to an excellent finished space.  We are very happy with the result.

Julio will also, if you ask, work on a labor only basis allowing you to push off final choices on finishes and colors until you can see how things look.  In my case, we decided to change toe finishing detail for the sari steps and capstones from the manufactured product to a natural Bluestone.  Julio pointed me to several suppliers and helped me decide which material would work best for my application.

I highly recommend TunTun and will be calling them again for some front yard work.

In all my years of home improvement projects, I have never had a better experience with a contractor. Period. Julio Calderon, the owner of Tun Tun, is head and shoulders above his peers. Although I am not a contractor, I have managed several large scale construction projects and have very high expectations from a contractor from start to finish. Julio exceeded all my expectations and then some!  Here are some of the key points that are important for those of you considering doing business with Tun Tun.

1. Incredibly responsive from the very first phone call. Julio called me back within 20 minutes of leaving my first message. He came out exactly when he said he was going to come out to give me an estimate.

2. Estimate was thorough and easy to understand. Not only did Julio turn the estimate around quickly, it was broken down into a very easy to understand format that itemized all the costs. The estimate was very reasonable.

3. Punctual beyond belief. Julio and I agreed that work would start on the 1st of November, barring any weather delays. Work started on time and finished on time. Julio kept us informed on a daily basis who was coming the following day and was proactive in teling us if there were any changes to the work schedue. I never found myself wondering where my contractor was when he was supposed to be working on my job. 

4. Workmanship was outstanding. Anyone who knows anything about laying bluestone knows that it is a royal pain to do it right. Julio's crew did such an outstanding job that it brought tears of joy to my wife's eyes. The set of stone steps were so beautiful that it looked like a work of art. In a nutshell, you'd be hard pressed to find better workmanship. It's important to point out that his crew did not wait for us to find mistakes. If they saw something that didn't look quite right, they automatically fixed it. This included digging up a section of bluestone for one of my landings. I even said it was acceptable "as is" but they didn't care. They did it over anyway. Good luck finding that in most contractors!

5. Julio's crew cleaned up the project site and went the extra mile in making sure our property was clean and in order.

6. Follow up: Julio called me just yesterday to make sure that everything was ok and if I needed him to come out and fix anything. 

Ladies and gents, what else can I say? Was the best contractor experience of my life.  I will never consider using anyone else. We plan to have other hardscape projects in the spring. Not only will Julio get that business, but I am probably going to use his crew to do my landscape project in the spring as well. The only reason why I am not showing pictures now is that we want to wait until we have the landscaping complete in order to properly show the fine work that he did for us. It's a great experience from start to finish and Julio and his crew built a beautiful driveway for our house. Julio is a great guy to work with. He is funny, friendly and very easygoing. He listens to your ideas of the project carefully and then comes up with great suggestions to make it better. He tries his best to make sure you will be completely satisfied with the result. We picked a design we really liked from the sample pictures he brought along but Julio found out the next day when he was placing the order that the manufacturer stopped making the brick of a particular color in the set. He suggested we change to a different brick set which was somewhat smaller in size and he said it would work out better for our driveway size and it did actually turned out like he said. Julio and his crew are very experienced and they would notice a lot of details as the project went along and they would point them out to us and suggest the best way to make adjustments to solve any problems. For example with the brick set change mentioned above the regular pavers and the center circle paver set would have a slight different color which was most obvious for the red brick. But Julio showed us that in the center circle red brick pallet he ordered some bricks were redder than others and the redder ones looked very close to the regular red paver bricks. And he told one of his crew members to specifically pick out the redder bricks from the center circle set to better match the regular red pavers. Julio's crew worked very hard, they arrived early in the morning before start time and worked till after it was dark. The masons meticulously checked their work to make sure everything was done right and looked perfect. And they did a thorough job cleaning up after the job was finished. I would definitely hire Julio and his crew the next time I have a project and would highly recommend his company to anyone interested in building a beautiful driveway and more. We really appreciate all Julio and his team did for us and we are so happy that our driveway looks almost like a piece of art!

This is the first time in all my years dealing with a a contractor that I enjoyed every moment with Julio and his team. Julio is funny, smart and had many design ideas, he absolutely hit it out of the park with our project. We had a paver driveway installed, front and side steps and also two garden walls installed. Julio and his team improved the value of our home ten times over and it's astonishing how fabulous this house looks now. My neighbors continues to give us compliments on the look of our new home. Julio went over every detail of the work and suggested many great ideas. His group of guys are very skilled and worked well together, working through many obstacles and managing it flawlessly. This was a large project and they were able to finish in six days. I would not hesitate to hire Julio and his team again and would recommend to anyone that's interested in having their home transformed into beautiful looking castle. Thank you Julio to you and your team for such beautiful work. The wife and I can't thank you enough.

Julio and his crew did an  amazing job!!!  They arrived early every day (6:30AM - 7:00AM,) worked harder than I've seen anyone work, stopping only for lunch, and didn't stop until it was almost dark (at least until 7:30 PM.) In addition, there were some issues that arose requiring more work (more time) and Julio really went the extra mile to make sure everything was done properly.  In addition he was very communicative before, during and after the project was completed.  He discussed every issue and helped direct us towards the solutions he felt were in our best interest.  The issues I mentioned above were solved quickly and Julio didn't leave the job until it was complete even though it took more time.  Originally, he estimated one week but because of the issues mentioned above and because the project had more than doubled, it took two weeks. 

In addition, here are three of the several items that needed to be dealt with, which were not obvious before the demolition began:
1) When the old stoop was nocked we saw that a notch had been cut out of the corner siding panel.  It became obvious that a layer of new cement was applied over the entire exterior of the steps including the landing to make them appear new.  It was not a repair, which was obviously necessary but rather a bandaid, presumably to sell the house.   Julio recommended the new stoop line up with the proper corner / side of the house even though the notch left a small gap between where they should line up and where the old steps lined up.   So...if we remove the vinyl siding covering the original cedar shake the new steps will be perfectly lined up. 
2) A panel of rotted wood (or previous termite damaged wood) was uncovered under the back door saddle, which was removed and replaced.
3) The front edge of the concrete floor of the garage was chipped, stained and has a crack.  They filled in the crack and fixed up the entire edge and it now looks perfect.  Now the two edges that meet (pavers and garage floor) sit nicely together.
4) When the asphalt driveway was removed a crack in the foundation under a basement window was revealed and it was filled with cement to prevent leaking.  Another bandaid removed and repaired.  

Every decision has a huge effect on the finished project, and especially the integrity of a house, all of which were dealt with in a professional and constructive way. 

I can't say enough about the quality of work and attention to detail.  We couldn't be happier and needless to say we've gotten many compliments from passersby!!!

I live in a townhouse community and we wanted a new patio with an extension added.  To do this we needed to submit a detailed plan showing what was being removed, added and relocated to the Association council members.  Part of this required a drawing and outline how the patio was to be constructed along with licensing, insurance, and other permits and documents.  All of this was done. Julio is a really honest person who cares about his job and especially his customers.  He responds back quickly to any questions which came up and alleviated any of the fears to meet deadlines and working within the Townhouse Association rules. He removed the old concrete patio, removed shrubs, excavated soil and put down gravel, top with paver stones.  They added mulch around the whole patio since it was surrounded by grass and shrubs.  They did this work in 90 degree plus heat and did not slow down at all. My wife and I are very happy with the results and received a few compliments from our neighbors and even an Association board member at the quality and workmenship of this project.  We will certainly use them again for any other project.

Everything was great and we are planning on using them again to build a deck. They had the best price that we could find. The job they did was excellent and we are very happy with them.
