WOW, What An Outstanding JOB by Julio and Tun Tun Construction. Usually I do not bother writing reviews but I felt compelled to write this review on the Professionalism and Workmanship of Tun Tun. Don't waste time in calling other companies and getting quotes, as I did that work for you. Julio (owner) of a Tun Tun, was the first to answer, show up, listened to what my ideas were, imputed his thoughts while keeping my ideas and best interest in mind, without taking short cuts and was very competitive with pricing. Julio and his crew were truly professional even when some challenges presented themselves, cleaned up everyday, and finished ahead of time. They are also very friendly and we were sad to see them go as they became part of the family. The finished product and workmanship is truly first class and I would recommend Tun Tun to all my family members, friends and coworkers. Please enjoy the pictures as we are enjoying our first class backyard thanks to Julio and Tun Tun.

I hired many contractors to work on my home after Hurricane Sandy and Tun Tun was THE ONLY POSITIVE experience I had. Julio and his team were professional, courteous, thankful and went above and beyond to make my home look amazing. It was a large investment, but well worth every penny. The job was completed top to bottom and Julio even put in my basement doors at no additional cost. In addition we ran into some water pipe trouble that had nothing to do with the work Julio performed and the job was delayed in the middle of the project. Julio NEVER complained about the delay I caused - they worked with me and were extremely patient. I can't say enough good things about Julio and his team. There have been so many people that run into me in the neighborhood and they tell me how beautiful the job is. My neighbor 2 doors down wouldn't let Julio leave the area until he worked on his house as well. Another beautiful job there too! Also, I am in Breezy Point, NY and the team traveled long distances to work on my home....if you are thinking about using someone other than Tun Tun, don't do it....Julio is your MAN.

At first, owner was out of the country and he told me he would get in touch with me. He did, he was very responsive and always stayed in contact with me.

Fantastic!! After a completely horrible experience with another landscape contractor I called Tun Tun to finish a job the last contractor stopped showing up for. I called because of the great reviews I read about Julio and Tun Tun. I must admit I was still nervous about trusting anyone after what the last guy put us through. Julio was punctual, professional and totally honest. His start date was only slightly delayed due to weather, which was completely understandable. Julio stayed in touch with us to keep us informed on when he expected to start our job. He is infinitely likeable and so is his son Julio Jr. They are both so friendly and down to earth. They finished the job completely in less than 3 days which was amazing. They put it a big beautiful front walkway and front porch and removed several overgrown plants from the front yard that we no longer wanted. His design for the walkway was much nicer than what we had in mind. He finished and repaired the work that the last contractor left unfinished or had done incorrectly. We will definitely have them back in the spring to do some plantings and redesigning some of the planter beds that are in need of attention. I really can't say enough about him. My husband and I found that he put a smile on our faces every time we spoke to him. He has a great sense of humor and and a great work ethic. He takes such pride in his work and it really shows in the quality. It's difficult to try to capture what the experience felt like on the heels of being ripped off by another very disreputable contractor. The bottom line is that he restored our faith in what a good contractor can do. Julio goes way above and beyond what is expected and we feel so lucky to have found him here! You won't do better than Julio and Tun Tun.

Called Tun Tun to get an quote. Julio responded quickly & came out the same week. He even called to say he was running a little late. Julio was very professional & friendly. Unfortunately we didn't use Julio because we received a more affordable quote for our budget from another Angies List contractor & went with them. Thanks for coming out anyway Julio!

We are very satisfied with the work, from beginning to end. Julio listened to us and understood why we wanted brick rather than precast blocks. He explained the difference in construction effort and approach and why he would have to charge more for our preference. He noted in advance how certain details would be handled, such as the joints between the wall and our driveway and house foundation, to be sure were in agreement. He suggested details such as sandstone capstones and a curved face to the stairway, that looked much nicer and added little to the cost. Construction was actually two weeks ahead of schedule. They told us they would start in about a month, and then called back within two weeks to report that they had an opening and could start immediately. Once the job started, Julio?s workers worked diligently for 12 hours a day, six days a week until the job was completed. When I mentioned during the job that I wanted embedded lighting for the steps, Julio?s son drove with me to the supply store and picked out fixtures immediately. While I paid for the fixtures and wiring, they were installed at no charge. The workmanship on the wall is beautiful. Every line is plumb and true, and the every joint is clean. As an engineer myself, I know that draining the soil behind the wall is essential to long life of the structure. I did not have to mention that to TunTun. They installed a thick layer of permeable crushed stone with a fabric-wrapped underdrain at the base of the wall with four outlets. The wall will drain freely for decades. We have one very minor complaint. TunTun?s employees removed a couple wheelbarrows full of dirt from behind the wall and replaced it with crushed stone. An employee spread the extra dirt in a thin spot in our back yard and seeded it. However, he buried a small drain inlet that we later had to find and uncover. The rest of the job was done perfectly so I?ll give them a pass on this mixup. Now we have a wall that is well constructed and looks beautiful. We get many compliments. And TunTun?s price was the lowest of all bidders.

My husband and I joined Angie's list this year as we decided to have our driveway redone. We chose Tun Tun Construction based on the good reviews and we decided to get a quote. I contacted Julio via email and he called me within 5 minutes of hitting the send button. He came to our house the next day, we showed him the drawing, he asked questions, he gave us ideas and he advised us to go see pavers, walk on them like them and let him know. He also told us that he can not start immediately as he was booked. We were in no rush, we did some more research and talked to more people. We called him again when we returned from vacation, he responded promptly, we set up a date and he started the day he said he will. His team of 5 people showed up early in the morning and for the next 6 days they worked for about 11-12 hrs every day until completion. Any question we had was promptly answered. It is really reassuring to hear " No problem" and Julio said that a lot. He is really easy to work with, funny, down to earth. There was an issue with the space in front of the gate which required a step down to make it more safe for people visiting. Even though the pavers were already in place, it was "no problem" to have the step built the way we wanted it. PVC pipe were also placed to drain the excess water away from house and also under the driveway for future electrical and irrigation needs. We really like the final product and Julio already came up with another idea for the side of the house. I have a feeling we will see him again and soon. One word for his team.... really hard working people, they know their job to the last detail, they left everything clean , they even power washed the street in front of the driveway.

First and foremost, I would hire Tun Tun Construction again for any future projects without a doubt. Now for the specifics of my experience. 1) every time I called Julio, I got Julio. 2) emailing experience was OK 3) They were able to start my job earlier than their initial approx start date. 4) They finished my job in 4 days and, at least two of those days, I witnessed that they were there from early in the morning and stayed until 7pm-ish (over a weekend none the less). 5) They cleaned up and reseeded when they were done. 6) I had the overall design laid out on paper, but it was Julio's suggestions and Tun Tun's execution that made a good project into a great project! I first called Julio sometime in May for an estimate and he honestly told me that he was booked through July 4th when customers aim to have their patios completed for the holiday. Since I was in no hurry (to spend my money), and with TunTun Construction?s consistent A rating at Angie?s List, I felt it worthwhile to wait. I called him again in late July when he came over for an estimate. Julio is very personable and far from being a hard-sell. At that time, I was only interested in replacing 2 landscape walls that flanked each side of the front of the house. Deep inside, I was disgusted at my front steps but was not ready to face the expenses. Julio immediately saw what needed to be done ? aside from the 2 landscape walls, he suggested to demolish and replace the front concrete steps and walkway, install a second alternate walkway closer to the street, and repair an existing walkway in the back which ?waved? due to water pooling. To prevent this problem, he was to install a PVC pipe under the walkway which caught the water from the gutters and reroute it away from the property. Hopefully, it should help prevent some minor flooding in our basement. He gave me a price for the entire package. He said that it would be more economically sound to have everything done at the same time, and just to call him when I?m financially ready, whether it be in the near or distant future. His price was not cheap, however, I believe it to be reasonable. More importantly, Julio won my trust that the job would be done right. I took the plunge and was glad that I did. My home now has the curb appeal that it has previously lacked. Julio?s crew worked tirelessly from 7am to 7pm. The job was completed within the designated time. Julio was there to ?make me happy? as he termed it, allowing me to expand the area of the front steps and landing. A couple of weeks after the work was completed, I realized that I wanted to raise an area of the landscape wall by another level. Julio obliged and I didn?t even have to remind him. This morning, two of his men completed the job. And for that, he truly deserves this positive rating.

My experience with them was excellent. I liked their professionalism.

What I can say about Julio and his crew is that if it weren?t for them we wouldn?t have had our dream house complete, as we were never expecting to be able to afford pavers. We were looking to re-do our driveway and my husband went on Angie?s list to check for regular asphalt driveway contractors; just by luck, he thought to check out pavers installing crews ,just in case, and he came across the reviews for Tuntun Construction. He was so excited to see the amazing ratings that he decided to check this out (honestly in the beginning he thought that wasn?t even a real company or a real person, it looked too good to be true!). Long story short, Julio came, saw and conquered us and our driveway, but even more exciting, the backyard and the space under our deck where we didn?t want to look anymore it was so messy and ugly! His team is amazingly professional, talented, neat and fast. The prices he will give you are probably the most reasonable you could expect, ever, and the quality of work is incredible. He will stay with you the whole time; make great suggestions to give you what you really want. His crew also moves very fast and they are very neat (well, it?s still stone?.so you will still get some dust). My only complaint (but I am not taking out points for this) is that if you need to go around plants, bushes or other vegetation that you want to keep, you will have to keep an eye on what?s going on. I lost some nice specimens, however, in the team?s defense, I must say it was very cold whenthey worked on my house and some of the bushes and grasses could not take the stress of transplanting at an inopportune time. The reason I am not taking points away from the 5 stars rating is that firstly, losing some bushes totally pales in comparison to the beauty I got, and secondly, this actually gave me the reason to play with my landscaping again and make it better than it used to be! So that it actually match my wonderful pavers!

No work was performed after providing the estimate they called several days later to inform us that due to their increased work load they could not meet the schedule.

Tun Tun Construction was very good. We will be using him when he is able to do the work here.

Julio was prompt, respectful and knowledgeable. He sat with my husband and I walking us through the details and was very patient and understanding for we had alot of questions. Though we did not use his service for this particular job, we would not hesitate to call him back for any future work.

A joy to work with! I felt like I had the ancient Romans building my walkway. They walked me though each step of the process, removed my existing walkway and added the proper gravel and stone dust to lay the pavers. I watched them cut each stone to create a walkway that was practical and great to look at. My new steps are awesome and they cut the limestone pieces at 45 degree angles (very classy). If you are looking for a high quality job, there is no reason to look elsewhere. Colonia, nj

The estimate was written and included all the points that we wanted. He was able to rip up the concete, which was 7-8 inches thick (to everyone's suprise) without complaint. He demolished the wooden deck and repaired all siding. He repaired siding in another part of the house too. In the end, we were charged for the amount of the original estimate and he left with everything clean and neat. Julio, his son, and his team worked from 8am to dusk and even worked on Sunday to get it done. He was very attentive and re-worked the stairs when some of the bullnose looked crooked and he fixed right away. I would use him again and would recommend him to my friends and family. Everyone was very nice and they do great workmanship.

What a great experience! As a previous reviewer stated, he called back within a few minutes from out of the country. He told me when he would be back and gave me an address of someone in my town for whom he had done work so that we could take a look. We had several estimates and then came Julio! I trusted him right away. He has a very easy going personality and went step by step with me about what he planned to do and gave me a very good idea of what the price might be. He followed up with an email estimate and his price never changed. No surprises as some contractors like to spring on a homeowner. His crew was at my house each day at seven AM. Only one day of one foot snow accumulation stopped them from showing up. Julio told me the job would take a week and that was only because the hours of sunlight were short this time of year. Including the snow day, the job took eight days. the skill and craftsmanship of his crew was wonderful to watch as the job took shape. Somehow, they always left the work site clean and we never had to navigate through a mess. Julio ALWAYS answers phone calls and texts when he arrives at the site. He is also a lot of fun to talk to. "Salt of the earth" kind of guy with a ready story in exchange for a cup of coffee. I have and will recommend Tun Tun construction to friends and family. Hire this guy!

We contacted Tun Tun via email about a new patio and walkway. Though he was out of the country I received a call from Julio 5 minutes after clicking the send button! Arranged to have Julio's son, also named Julio, provide an estimate. Their estimate was very competitive, and Julio Jr. was very forthcoming and collaborative, so we decided to go with Tun Tun. Looking back we made the right decision. From day one everyone from Tun Tun was friendly, responsive and most importantly focused on getting the job done quickly and correctly. Julio Jr. made several great recommendations that we agreed with. We could not be more pleased with their work, and we highly recommend Tun Tun to anyone looking to have any hardscaping done.

Julio and team arrived on a Thursday morning and began the process of breaking and removing the old walkways. It was a bit of a slow start at first, but that was only because he had two of his guys finishing up a prior job. That was understandable and the workers who were there worked tirelessly. It rained the next day, but some of the team brought the supplies, so that it would be there for the following day. The crew worked the entire weekend and was considerate of my neighbors by not making noise with their machines until later in the morning. With the addition of the other two workers who came on board over the weekend, I immediately was able to see even more progress. The team worked until sundown. Julio kept in constant touch by either showing up or calling me on my cell. The crew also installed PVC pipes from my gutter to the street alleviating a water puddle that used to settle at the side of my house after just about every rain. I was worried that the connecting walkways would look awkward instead the widened width and the curve I hoped to see did emerge. It took away a side area of grass that had difficulty growing, so that worked out fine. All-in-all the job went very well. I can't even say how pleased I am. The handling of the flower bed areas was an added perk. All of my flowers were repositioned to where I requested and new mulch was placed down as well as seeds for the leftover grass areas. Did I say how pleased I am already.....because I am.

Julio responded to my questions in a timely manner, and always gave me a heads-up on what and where he's going to be at during the job, such as which days his crew will be onsite and days where they won't be. Actual patio construction was done in 3-4 days, very professional. The crew had to ruin parts of the lawn due to moving of construction material and vehicles, and it was re-soiled and re-seeded free of charge after the job was complete.

They were very nice; they left everything clean, and they worked all day. I have no complains about them. They charged us very good price and they arrived earlier than the scheduled time.

When I contacted Julio he called me right away and came to my house the next day with an estimate. I was very impressed with Julio and his team, he gave me an estimate and was right on par with it. Julio and his team redid my pavers in my backyard and also put new pavers on my side walkway and my front walkway. He also installed a new drainage system to keep all the water away from my house. If I had any question or problems Julio was there to fix them. Julio treated my yard like his own. I highly recommend Tun Tun Construction .

Julio and his team installed a retainer wall around my pool in the backyard. I originally contacted Julio in July in regards to building the wall but couldn't afford the price at that time. Still I reported on Angie's list how impressed I was with Julio and would have hired him but just couldn't meet his price at that time. Well I am even more impressed now. Days after that conversation Julio called me back and met my final price and started working on my retainer wall within two weeks. Julio is truly a man of his word. He always returns your calls in a timely manner. He explained everything from beginning to end. He started the work when he said he would and finished a day earlier than expected. Julio's team worked very hard from 8am - 6pm daily in some of the hottest weather. They were punctual, pleasant, professional and hardworking. The wall is beautiful...better than I expected. My neighbors can't stop talking about it. When the work was done they cleaned up everything thoroughly. It was a pleasant experience. No complaints. A few days later though I noticed a chip on two of the pavers and called Julio. No problem. A few members of his team came back within the week and replaced them at no charge. I would not hesitate to re- hire Julio and his team at all for future projects. They made the grueling experience of hiring an unknown contractor a pleasant one. I was very satisfied!

Everything went even better than expected from start to finish. Julio called to set up a free estimate within minutes of me sending him an email. We then met him at our new house the day of our closing where he was very patient with us and provided us with very detailed explanations of everything he planned on doing. He gave us a very fair price and, luckily, he was able to fit us into his schedule and start work two days later on a Wednesday. We explained to him that we were going to be moving some things into the house throughout the week and that on Saturday we would need everything clear because we'd be bringing the moving truck. He assured us that unless it rained he would be done by Friday with everything except the plants since he wanted us to choose them first. We were skeptical but trusted him and we're so glad we did! By Wednesday evening everything had been cleared out (both the old hardscape and landscape), by Thursday evening the job was more than halfway done (even though it rained for part of the day), and by Friday evening it was all done to perfection. Saturday was our move and Sunday morning Julio, his son, and one other worker met us at a local nursery to pick out our plants and everything was planted and mulched within a couple hours. Everyone who has seen the transformation is impressed (including our new neighbors) and we owe it all to Julio and his entire team as they really worked their butts off and did an incredible job. In the future we plan on installing a patio in our backyard and Tun Tun Construction will definitely get the job!
