So George got the job. I guess I was a bit nervous as anyone might be dealing with outside people and hoping no hiccups ruin the day. Well I can't say enough about George, his workers, the care he took not to damage the yard any further than needed. I have some grooves in the lawn from the stump grinder tires and the small front end loader used to cart away debris but that is to be expected. No way around it. I was expecting much more damage actually. I did plan to rework the lawn anyway as now there will be so much sunlight, the grass might grow! George agreed to remove everything. I did not want soil mixed with wood chips and he agreed to remove all of it and make it level. The one smaller tree was done well. Smooth, no stump. They worked on the big oak and took away two dumptruck loads. The tires were almost flat from the weight, I could see he could not put much more in. George left about 4:00PM to go price another job, which is normal. He had 6 guys working their tails off. About 5:00 one of his men knocked on the door stated he was done so I paid him. Cash. I went out back to look over the work. The one tree was gone right to the grass line. The oak stump area though had a hump like a pile of chips about a foot higher than it should be. I wanted it smooth up to and past the property line into the neighbors yard, just a nice transition. I called him. He answered (he ALWAYS answers the phone, busy hardworking young guy) I explained what I described. He said he would stop by at his earliest convenience to look it over. Strangely I had every confidence that he would do just that. There was no apprehension in my stomach, no feeling of, well I got screwed, it just felt right. He did stop by, look over what his men left said he would come and finish/fix the hole. Saturday morning 8:30, as promised he is there with his machines (BTW his trucks and machines may not be brand new but they are well maintained and cleaned religiously, never junk rolling up to your house.) and he cleans it up. The reason there was that hump was because of a huge root from my neighbors tree, which was tilting badly and that root was probably all that was keeping it upright. Nonetheless he managed to direct the work to a very satisfactory end. I am VERY happy I hired Liberty USA Landscaping. George is a pro and he is getting the work and making money while all these greedy you-know-whats are busy giving estimates and getting nothing. I am so damned happy that I joined Angies list just to write this. You will be happy too I am sure.
