My husband called Code Electric and was given a day (12/23) and time slot of 9-5pm, yes, 8 hours. At around 330, someone called me to tell me they would be out the next morning (12/24), and i would be the first appointment. Noone showed, or called that day. My husband waited until 12/27 to call again and see what was up. They apologized and said they had the dates mixed up and sent Bill and his colleague out within the hour. The work performed was great, they even covered the hole where the original light was nicely and we love our ceiling fan. They cleaned up after themselves and were very courteous.

The contractor was slightly late in calling to set up an appointment. His tradesmen arrived when promised, and evaluated the job. They told me it would take more than 2 hours, and that either I would have to provide materials, or they would sell it to me from their stock. I was quoted $4/foot (approximate) for wire that would cost me less than $.75/foot. The final quote was over $700 to install an outlet.

This was the most horrible experience I have ever had with an electrical company. I own a restaurant and was having problems with 2 of my kitchen printers not working. The junction box was old and needed to be replaced. From staff bumping into it the wires were loose causing the connection to the printers to become bad. I called them on Saturday morning and asked them to replace the 2 junction boxes and cut the loose wires and re-clamp new connectors on them. I told them that I needed the work done before 5pm when we get busy. The technician didn't arrive until close to 4pm and stated it was too busy for him to complete the work that night but he would come back the next am. He said he had 1 printer working to get us through the night. When he left not only were there NO printers working and the printer to my POS that was working before was now not working. I was charged $625 for nothing, they did not complete the work and I had more problems after they left. I paid it because they said they would come the next day to fix everything. They came the next day and Joey, the Manager calls me to tell me that they need to tell me the price so I'm not shocked. He said they were charging me an additional $900 on top of the $625 I paid them the night before. A total of $1525 for replacing 2 surface junction boxes, changing 2 cable wires and cutting and re-crimping several wires? I paid $1200 to the company who initially set up the entire network, ran all the wires, and set up my phone system. My Manager who is also an IT guy got on the phone and asked him for a break down of the cost, he couldn't give one. He kept saying he didn't know what the whole job entailed. My Manager asked how he could give a price if he didn't know what work needed to be performed. My Manager then asked if for $1500 they were going to change/install all new wiring in addition to the other work. (It was the only thing we could think of that would be that expensive) He said they were going to do that. We asked him why since we already told him what needed to be done. He got very defensive and kept insisting he had to pay his tech for coming on a Saturday and Sunday. I had asked him what the "emergency" charge was and he told me the night before it was $135 for the service charge (to come out) and $100 for the "emergency" service. I understood that and was willing to pay the prime rate but where was the other $1200 charges coming from? He called his tech and the tech told him that he was not replacing all the wiring but just a couple. He said the job would take about 2 hours. Joe called me back and stated they would be charging me the $625 I had already paid them the day before. The problem is not the Tech Bill. Bill was nice and did a great job. He was always professional and knew what he was doing. The problem was with the Manager Joe. I cannot understand how he could act like he did. He thought I didn't know the job and was clearly trying to price gouge me. When I got upset and questioned the pricing he was unbelievably condescending towards me. As soon as my Manager got on the phone Joe changed his story, he couldn't answer my Managers questions about the pricing or the work that was being done. He changed the pricing 3 times during our phone conversation. He had no idea what work was actually being done because he never really asked the Tech Bill what he was going to be doing. After he realized we actually knew what had to be done and knew what the going rate was for the job he called Bill. Bill actually told him that he was NOT replacing all the wiring and told him exactly what needed to be done which was what we already knew. Joe called me back and said I was only going to be charged the $625 that I had already paid. Bill completed the work in less than 2 hours. Again, I have nothing bad to say about the actual work or Bill, the Tech. The price gouging, lack of communication between Joe and his Tech and Joe's horrible attitude has completely turned me off to this company. I really feel like I was being taken advantage of and I worry he does the same to other people who do not have the knowledge or experience with electrical work or computer type work. I will never use them in the future or recommend them to anyone.

(Code Electrical Contractors) was excellent. The electrician who made the call (Bill McNeil) was very efficient and helpful. He understood the problems immediately and was very adept at the solutions. He devised a short cut around the garage problem that made a two hour job into one that only took 20 minutes. Excellent service. Was more than I expected!
Description of Work: The provider replaced the dead outlet that was on the patio, and then wired around a GFI plug that was in our bathroom and also on the circuit with the garage.

I emailed them immediately after my purchase. They responded the next day and assigned the work to someone for the very next week. They arrived an took an assessment of what needed to be done and the materials they would need to complete the job. They returned the next work day and completed the work. Bill William was very courteous and professional. He and his co worker went straight to work, after all they only had an hour to complete the task. They did not waste any time and worked until it was completed. They were very neat and cleaned up afterwards. Not only did Bill complete the cable installations, he was able in the last 15 mins. to install a light fixture leading to my family room. I have some other small jobs I would like to complete and I will be calling CODE Electrical again. Thank you Rob, although I did not meet you, Bill represented you and your company well.

Provider installed an outdoor electrical outlet. Bill McNeil was the provider representative. Bill is very professional and courteous. He came on time and called 15 minutes before he was due to arrive. He surveyed the work to be accomplished and quoted a price before work began. when the price was agreed on he began working, quietly and efficiently. The quality of his work was impeccable. Except for the outlet that was installed, you would never know that any work was performed. Bill is a very clean efficient worker. He has a pleasant manner and is very good at what he does. Code Electric is fortunate to have him as an employee.

I so wanted to be able to write a great review. One of the problems with being a home owner is that many times contractors don't want to be bothered with the "little" jobs. When I saw this "Big deal" of the day I was excited as I knew my job was relatively easy but still wanted a professional to handle it. just in case it turned into some more complex. Starting off they were great. Joe responded promptly to my questions and explained that scheduling was heavy due to the big replies to their deal (2 hours of electrical work for 79 bucks). We scheduled a time and Bill the electrician called within the time frame and was prompt. He quickly diagnosed the problem (some burnt out bulbs) and fixed it. or so I thought. later on that evening my landscaping lights did not come on. I called code electric immediately explained the issue and they assured me they would be out first thing the next morning (today) to reset the timer and make sure the lights came on automatically. Never showed up!! Very disappointed. So the best I can give them is a C grade. The initial response was great, the service contractor was professional and pleasant but they dropped the ball on the follow through. I got my neighbor who is a handyman but not an electrician to help me reset the timers and the lights are on.

Both Matt and PJ did an excellent job and were able to help me figure out my electrical problems. They were both very professional and easy to work with. What I liked most is that they explained everything they were doing before and during the each project. They then walked me through the finished work. I have no hesitations recommending Code Electric and will definitely be using them for more jobs in the very near future.

It took them more than 3 days to come out and do an estimate. It then took them 2 additional days to provide the estimate. The price they estimated was double the cost of the deal. I just thought it was a come on by these guys. The gentleman I worked with nice but I still felt that it was a come on.
Description of Work: I purchased a $399 for Christmas Light Installation, Maintenance, Removal, Storage and More
Description of Work: I had a kind of perfect experience with Code Electrical and figured I would leave them a review. -MY EXPERIENCE:I only had a maximum $300-400 to spend and needed to get at least one dead outlet I need for my air conditioner fixed. I was also hoping to get another dead outlet brought back to life and one working outlet converted from two prong to three prong. They fixed all three outlets fast and charged me $225 with $10 bucks for parts. Doesn't sound that impressive?. Everyone who has looked at my wiring in the past including my super who has nothing to gain says it is scary, outdated stuff. Basically my wiring consists of 80 year old Keebler elves who live in the walls and rub sticks together to start fires. In the past it took an electrician a few hours just to wire a medicine cabinet because my wiring is so bad. Finishing this job required lots of trouble shooting as well as prying open those outlets and a nearby one ( all covered in decades of paint) and prying open the casing that holds my ancient fusebox which needs to be upgraded and doing repairs back in there because one outlet was fried at the source. Keep in mind one of the dead outlets they revived has not worked in at least 10 years. He offered to clean up any debris but I declined because I usually do that myself with contractors ( seems like a waste of their skills and labor). -PRICING. Their pricing seemed was very competitive on the phone with the first increment higher than others but they pro-rate by half hour increments (which matters) and my guy worked really fast. Don't be deterred by the seemingly high cost for the first increment, that's for their trouble in making the trip. Half hour increments are better for you than hours and guys who work fast make a difference. Another electrician who bid by the job said the work would cost at LEAST $780 and possibly more depending on the state of my wiring (maybe he thought I was desperate because I mentioned my AC needed the outlet) . Code Electric told me what they were doing every step of the way and both the guy on the phone and the electrician told me they would not do additional things like run wires without checking first and telling me the price. They gave me an itemized receipt in person as well. If you call Code tip your electrician fairly because he or she will probably be saving you a ton of money. -SPEED. These guys are FAST, I can not stress FAST enough. I'd been playing phone and e-mail tag with two other electricians for a week. Code actually picked up the phone (unlike others) and gave me detailed info. and an accurate guestimate on the phone (unlike others). I walked to an ATM machine. We talked again an hour later. They had a guy in the neighborhood and he buzzed my door a half hour later. He worked fast. I just met Code Electrical and in the blink of an eye they fixed all my electrical problems. Thanks Code, you guys give contractors a good name.

Overall, I was very impressed. They did an amazing job, and honest on top of that. Definitely would recommend them.
Description of Work: I got a courtesy call the day before to confirm my appointment, and let me know what time the electricians were supposed to arrive. They came promptly at the time that they were meant to come. At first, the basement was supposed to get six recessed lights, but the electrician said that was a bit much and recommended four. I was happy about that because it showed how honest he was. I told them that I wanted the outlets checked in the bathroom, and they did that as well. When I got back, I didn't recognize the place. The basement was bright, and the recessed lights were very nice. They only made two holes, which I was happy about. The kitchen impressed me even more. They used put recessed lights on the holes left over from the hideous light fixtures that we took down before they arrived, so there was minimal damage the ceiling. Overall, I was very impressed. They did an amazing job, and honest on top of that. Definitely would recommend them.

Code Electrical Contractors did a phenomenal job, I am very pleased to say the least and hope to use them again in the future!!!
Description of Work: We needed 3 recessed lighting fixtures replaced in our kitchen as they were the 25+ year old original fixtures and the sockets were shorting out regularly. I originally contacted my old electrician, as he have done work for us in the past that we've been happy with, but through a series of mis-steps on his end that I won't go into, we ended up having to look for another electrician to help us out. We also had base board heat replaced throughout the house.I called Code Electric on Tuesday and left a message, and got a prompt call back from the office (which was very impressive). They came out on Wed to take a look at what we had (they are odd-sized Atlite cans and we didn't want to re-sheetrock the whole ceiling for this - we were hoping for drop-in replacements) and replace our entire house with new baseboard heaters and give us a quote.A few hours after they left, he called me to say he could get the correct housings that would work with the existing holes and ring brackets and could install them on Thursday. At 8:30am Thursday, one of his guys arrived and promptly replaced our old lights along with the base board heaters. The job took about a day, he was polite and efficient and most importantly, he cleaned up after himself, sweeping all floor, gathering all the boxes and old fixtures to be put out in the compactor room, etc.Total cost, including the housings/baffles, labor and even the new floodlight bulbs (he advised R40s instead of of the R30s we had been using) came to $3000 even, which is exactly the price I was quoted on Wed. My kitchen isn't dark anymore and we now have heat!!The job took one day , I have to say that I was impressed enough with Code Electric’s responsiveness and there worker's professionalism, and I wouldn't hesitate to call Code Electric again in the future, for jobs big or small! If you happen to use Code Electric, I hope your experience is as wonderful as mine was.

The process was smooth and I am very pleased with the results, I highly recommend them!
Description of Work: When we moved we knew we had to get a generator. During our first few months of living here, we lost power for a few hours about once a week -- no joke. There was no rhyme or reason -- we'd lose power on sunny days with no storms nearby. Trees fall on lines all the time around here. We found Code and scheduled an estimate with Bob.. He came out to talk about the process of installing a whole-house generator. This is not a small task -- we didn't realize how many steps were involved. At many points there could have been issues (when dealing with the county, or connecting a gas line from our propane tank to the generator, or during the 2-day installation), but it went very smoothly. It did take a few weeks to get on the schedule, but this seems to be the case with other companies as well. While we were waiting for the install date, we were fortunate to not have any significant power outages (and then a few days after the generator was up and running, our power was out for 15 hours -- go figure -- but we didn't care, because we had power thanks to our generator!). The electricians did the job on what had to have been the hottest day of 2013, and they were always very professional and cheerful throughout. We hope to use Code Electrical for other electrical needs in the future and recommend them without hesitation to anyone looking to install a generator. The price was excellent and so was the service. And it's important to point out that Code Electrical does an excellent job and I wish all contractors were this good!
