A master bath remodel was required due to water damage and out-dated fixtures. Ecomony Kithens and Baths came in with the best estimate. Overall, they did an excellent job. Time and cost estimates were very accurate. All workers were friendly and professional. I was especially impressed with the quality of the tile work in the shower and the floor. If I had to find an area for improvement, it would be the attention to detail with the sheet rock. I had to request them to return after completion and after I painted the bathroom. After painting with a semi-gloss paint, several areas required additional sanding because they were not smooth enough. After about 6 months, I noticed that the spackle over several sheet rock screws were coming out. I called and they came and fixed it at no additional cost.
Description of Work: Master bath remodel. Sheet rock and sub-floor replacement. Floor and wall re-tiling. Removal of tub and replaced by a walk-in shower. New vanity.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your experience with Economy Kitchens and Bath, sorry about spackle detail.Unfortunatley using a semi-gloss paint in any bathroom is not recommended for this reason. It will show any imperfection even with the best of finished walls.I apologize for not bringing this to your attention,We recommend a flat or Satin finish mildew resistance paint, such as Zinzeer Paint.I will make sure i tell my future clients of this issue,so we can prevent this from happenning again.

Good experience overall. They have a one year warranty period and they did follow up within the year to fix some caulking. There was an issue with the wall tile for the bathtub however.. Usually the tile would stop at the edge of the tub. But in my bathroom, there is only 8 inches between the window and tub. Therefore, it would have looked botched to have an eight inch untiled piece of wall. They fixed it but would not have fixed it if I had not noticed right away and had them change it.
Description of Work: Total bathroom replacement, room (plaster walls) gutted entirely.

She was thorough and knowledgeable. She was extremely pleasant and sent me a couple of options for my kitchen remodel. The only reason I did not go with this company is that I was referred to another contractor by close friends that had work done for them.

I live in a 2 bed/2 bath condo in Northern Central NJ. I was looking to have my master bathroom remodeled, and after reading all good reviews about Econ Kit & Bath, I decided to give them a call......and I'm glad I did ! Econ Kit & Bath was professional from start to finish......Tom came to my place to view the bathroom, take proper measurements, and turnaround with an itemized quote, worksheet style, within days of our original meeting. I was impressed with the itemized quote, as I was able to see exactly what I was paying for. Surprisingly, I did not get this type of quote from the two other competitors I met with. Their quotes were more verbiage with a grand total at the end, which of course leaves a lot open for interpretation. Next, I went to the Econ Kit & Bath to view their showroom, and Tom was very helpful in providing suggestions for a design theme for my bathroom. In addition, since I ordered everything but tile & lighting directly from Econ Kit & Bath showroom, I was able to get discount bulk pricing ( which the other 2 competitors did not offer ). Tom thoroughly answered all my questions to my satisfaction, and provided the certificate of insurance to me promptly after requesting it, which made my decision to choose Econ Kit & Bath very easy. I put 1/3 down when the contract was signed, and Econ Kit & Bath was able to start about 1 month after. They performed their job meticulously, used quality building materials, were clean and neat, and most importantly, were punctual and consistently made progress each and every day. This was a complete bathroom remodel, with the bathroom gutted to the studs, new plywood + wonderboard, new tiling ( next 1/3 payment here ), vanity, toilet, shower glass doors, etc. The job took 8 business days. In the end, I'm very happy with the new bathroom, and would most definitely recommend Econ Kit & Bath to others. The only thing I have left to get done is paint the new bathroom. Then I will post before and after pics to those who are interested.

Job turned out even better than I imagined. There are still some other jobs to do and it's a nobrainer who I'll call.
Description of Work: I had EK&B partially overhaul an aging but sound main bath which needed a new countertop and tub enclosure. This group gave me a good price estimate and excellent choice of materials. This was a difficult installation requiring exact custom fitting and some layout quirks to work-around: The tub was partially surrounded by a short, 3-ft "knee wall" built along the end of the tub and continuous with the vanity countertop. The existing unit was cobbled together because the vanity and short wall are of unequal heights, and extends outward from the vanity. They saw the problem and suggested to wait an extra week or so for their problem-solver installer to be free-----well worth the wait. The result is a beautiful blend of new and old---good looking and functional, The cleverly customized countertop is blended into the tub area such that the odd layout now looks modern and upscale, with no gaps or dead space as had been there before. All pieces are precisely fitted and the whole job is crisp and neat. Everything was exactly as ordered, and the price paid equalled the estimate.

I called them and left them a voice mail but they never called me back. I finally got an appointment through their online request. We were really hoping that we can get some good ideals for our kitchen design since they have so many good reviews on Angie’s list. My husband and I took some hours off and left our work early for our appointment but no one showed up. When I called them and asked why they didn’t call to cancel the appointment. The answer from him was “They were too busy to call”!This company has won the Angie's List Super Service Award but they can only provide such irresponsible service to their clients. We are very disappointed with this company.

We met with Sue with a preliminary design we had and she added some touches we had not thought of. In addition to all of the regular cabinets installed we also had a an additional cabinet area installed with a peninsula to replace a kitchen table. Since we have a split level home we also had a design done of matching cabinets and wine rack to be installed at the entrance of the family room. We agreed on a start date and were told the job would take about six weeks. The job started on time and was completed on time. We were always kept informed by Sue or Jay of any updates concerning the work. Everyone involved from Chris who did the demolition to Pat or Rich who worked on the installation of the new cabinets were great. Pat handled the backsplash installation and his work was meticulous. Our only glitch was the original quartz countertop would not be available until mid August. We went with Sue to the stone supplier and decided on a granite countertop instead and couldn't be happier. The kitchen turned out better than we could ever have imagined. We are very pleased with the quality of all work done and would definitely use them again.

They are terrific and just great. The job turned out great. Their price was lesser than some other people. I would recommend them. From the day Frank came out to give us an estimate they were just exemplary in their efficiency, expertise and communication. The men who came to the house were polite and they cleaned up after themselves. They seemed to work as quickly as they could but they were meticulous. So many times people stop the work and do other projects and get back to the project but these guys just worked on it. They met the contract obligations very well. The showroom is nice and they have a lot of materials to choose from. They are just a really great company.

Remember what your mother told you about first impressions? I emailed the company at noon on 7/2 with the following: "Hello,I have a small bathroom, which needs the tile floor repaired, due to a recently repaired pipe in the slab. The hole is approximately 2'x4' and will require a cement base, covered with tile I already have from the original installation. I've received estimates between [redacted], but everyone is apparently too busy to actually do the work. As this is our only bathroom in the house, the delay is a major issue. Please reply to this or call me at [redacted] if this is a job you'd be interested in and able to do very soon.George" About 3.5 hours later, I had already received a response from Sue Moura (hence the A rating on responsiveness), which I post here in its entirety : "We do not do repairs! Thank you!" I had no idea it was possible to offend someone simply by seeing if they were interested in doing a job for you. Perhaps the person wasn't actually yelling at me and the exclamation point was a typo which should have really been a period, but they're pretty far apart on a keyboard, so that's difficult to accept. Given the glowing reviews on here, I was extremely surprised by the lack of courtesy. I wouldn't be surprised if the "thank you" was part of an automatic signature, which, obviously, didn't even include her name. Even something as equally succinct as "Sorry, we do not do repairs. Sue" would have been perfectly acceptable. Maybe my expectations are too high? Equally as perplexing, they didn't even attempt to gain my business by offering to give a quote for the entire floor. I guess business is really good.

Ultimately the cost of his plan was going to be too much for the neighborhood and how long we plan to stay in the place. When we are ready for the kitchen or bath remodel in our next place, they will be my first choice.
Description of Work: We were working on remodeling a 20 year old condo kitchen. We'd had another contractor out but he didn't show any creativity. Jay came over and put me at ease immediately, taking in the whole space and asking questions about how we would use the space. He visualized several different ways to totally reconfigure the space, both modernizing its appearance and making it more functional. We met with Jay a week later to see his ideas on paper and view the way things could look in their showroom. He had some great ideas which we couldn't have come up with on our own. We were so impressed with how much better our space could be.

I was very pleased with my experience - they have a showroom located in Rahway, so I was able to see and pick all of the finishes - cabinets, countertops, hardware and sinks etc. They provided a highly accurate estimate that detailed the price and labor cost for each piece, and they stayed on budget. They helped me design the kitchen for the best flow, and, because I was budget limited, I appreciated that they carry a range of finishes. They were also willing to work to help me stay within my limited budget. They employ their own workers who were friendly and with whom I always felt safe. The outcome was beautiful and I love my new kitchen. The one flaw in the experience is that they were unable to actually start construction at the time we originally planned. However, they were able to finish (just in time) for summer guests I had visiting, and the final kitchen was so fabulous, I can overlook this. If I need to renovate my bathroom, or ever need to renovate a kitchen again, I would choose them.
Description of Work: They completely remodeled my kitchen - new floors, ceiling, cabinets, countertops, appliances lighting - they even removed a wall and external door, and added a window.

We got a quote from Tom several years ago but didn't follow through due to economic hardship. I did introduced Tom to my buddy and they did an excellent job remodeling his kitchen. When we were ready , I didn't hesistate to call Tom again. He provided us with a quote, the cost is comparable to what he quoted us several years ago. We agreed to a start date. The gang showed up on time and started demolition. We found quite a few holes behind the cabinets and we had them patching all the holes before re-assemble the cabinets back in place. The whole job went a week over due to the holes. One of the major reasons why we went with them because of the in-house cabinetry work as comparing to other contractors sub-contract woodwork out. The custom cabinets built by them matched so well we have a hardtime telling the old ones from the new cabinet. Also they did an excellent job with the backsplash installation. They cleaned up on a daily basis without us asking them. The crew is respectful always on time and if they ran late, we were always informed. After the job was completed. We noticed the range and the hood didn't line up. The crew and us all missed it as we were totally mesmerized by how beautiful the kitchen looks. Tom came by and suggested rebuilding new cabinets on both sides of the hood. The end result is amazing. Everything looks great! We were able to entertain 2 parties for thanksgiving and X'mas. All guests were amazed with their work. We have to relocate due to a new job offer. The house was listed for sale. We had 14 viewings and 2 offers in 3 DAYS for the asking price. The buyer commented they love the kitchen and ask us for the contractor's contact info. Thank you Tom and the crew for their superb workmanship and work ethics!!!

The professionalism, timing of the project, cleanliness of the crews, workmanship and their ability to respond to additional requests during the working phases was excellent! The elements of the project were: Design and Contract Review In late July we met with Tom Bak at our house to look at the kitchen and to provide design suggestions. His suggestions maximized our storage space and replaced a hutch and table w/ chairs with a T section and fully covered the wall with cabinets. My wife was extremely pleased with his recommendation and in early August we signed the contract. Hard to rate costs based on upgrades to cabinets and hardware, but the quality of the workmanship was well worth it Permits, Initial Inspection, Cabinets & Quartz Counter top The permits were applied for (2-3 weeks to get them from the township) and the cabinets ordered (~5 weeks to get) . Once the cabinets came in in early September Tom scheduled the tare out of the kitchen for a Friday, pre-electrical work for Monday, Township inspectors for initial inspections on Tuesday with the cabinet work was completed on Wednesday and Thursday of that week. There was one minor glitch with the over the sink cabinets which had to be ordered (3 weeks to replace) but not critical to the overall project and the only minor problem encountered on a very large project. The cabinet installation was done by Pat along with all of the tiling. If you have a kitchen done and need cabinetry work done I would highly recommend Pat. He does exceptional work, never takes a break and is extremely conscientious about the details. On Friday the counter top installer came in to measure and make templates of all the counters and the T set. Superb scheduling with minimal disruption. One week to complete the basics Within 2 weeks the counter tops were in and their measurements and installation were absolutely flawless! The timing was exactly as stated by Tom back in early August. The special glass for the doors was installed in October Completion of the Job The job was completed in December (the kitchen was in working order the first week of October) but took an additional 8 weeks because of additions I added on to the project which were not part of the original contract. Tom was extremely receptive and helpful with the changes which required several weeks to order and arrive. He worked us in around his very busy schedule to complete the additions I wanted. We were extremely pleased with the results, Tom's recommendations and the quality of the work. I couldn't ask for a better experience then this from a contractor and this is from a person who does all of their own work and was on hand while all of Tom's personnel worked!

I considered the estimate to be much more than I was willing to spend. Their estimate was over $40000 for a bathroom remodel so I decided not to go forward with that. They were great, but that was way out of my price range. I had actually made a blunder. They had sent me the estimate and I had assumed that it was the front page, but it was only the first of 2 pages. I actually went off and I was looking at the stuff and everything and then one guy asked me what I thought it was going to cost. I said $16000 and he asked me if I looked at the back. I immediately knew that I was in the wrong place at the wrong time and then I came home. It was a little bit over my expectations in what I would like to do. They were terrific when they came out to give an estimate. They were terrific when I went there as well. In America there are people that have a lot of money and then there's middle class. I'm not the one with a lot of money. I'm the one that's in the middle class. I work as a contractor and do job on an hourly basis so for every single buck I see how much I'm spending. I would have liked to do if they were within the proposal. They were just way out of my way. I had put addition on my previous house for almost the same price. It was a 625 sq ft addition. I understand that it wasn't recently, but it's still hard to spend that kind of money on a bathroom remodel. It was a complete job. I was going to replace everything in the bathroom. It wasn't just the bathtub wrap around or anything like that. It was to pull the bathtub and put a new bathtub and all that kind of stuff. It was extensive, but when they originally came they had said that it was about $25000 and I was willing to think about that. The $16000 didn't include special shower and all that. I expected it to be between $16000 and $25000, but then it came significantly over $40000 and I knew that that was not going to happen. They had a miscommunication between the people who work there. I think after I left, the guy that actually came out to do the estimate was going to get hell from his boss for sending me the estimate without delivering it personally and making sure that I understood what the total cost was. I don't think they were probably charging too much, it was outside of my price range. It may very well be worth that, but I just couldn't spend it. The guy came to the house, he went to the bathroom, took measurements and all those other kinds of stuff and provided me with the images of what they were going to do and all that. It was all well and good. I'd do if I were rich.

Response from EKB Kitchen & Bath Remodelers
In response to Member's report, there is some information that appear's to have been left out.1st when at his home he was given a ballpark figure of 25,000.00 as a starting point and told he needed to make an appointment to come to the showroom to select product in order to give him an accurate estimate. He than handed me a wish list for the project which I did not review in detail at his home as I was not giving a financial estimate at that time.he told me that his wife was going away on a trip and he would call in two week's to schedule an appointment.when I did not hear from him one month later I decided to send him an estimate so that he knew I did not forget him. and I reitterated that I thought he was going to call for an appointment.the bathroom project was extremely detailed with such thing's as relocating the tub not just replacing it,removing wall's,reframing a wall for a pocket door, creating a custom shower with no curb and a trough style drain, heated flooring, heated towel bars, custom shower door's,heated seat in shower and this is just to name a few of his request's.also when the estimate was mailed to Member he read it and folded it back up so I dont understand how he did not see the writing on the back page.the front page was a product budget and the back page was a labor budget.so I am confused as to where he thought the labor pricing was.to some this up, Member was given a ballpark price at his home with the knowledge that he needed to pick product to get final pricing, and for fear of him doing exactly what he did,I sent him a quote so he knew I did not forget him and because he did not get 2 or 3 estimates he really has no way of knowing if the price was fair or not he is basing it on what he think's the project should cost.there may have been a misunderstanding but it was on Member's part for not realizing there was writing on both side's of the estimate sheet.and this is why no one will ever be given a ballpark qoute again.this is why appointment's in our showroom are necessary in order to review and select product.and lastly I could not hand deliver the estimate with any accuracy as Member had never picked any product.it was sent to him to let him know he was not forgotten

Communication with the team was very good. Some of the finish work was a bit rough. Cabinet hardware was installed poorly and drywall joint compound was not sanded well. I think the tile installer was working outside his area of expertise on these projects. Some parts were slow to come in and the workers on site were not always fully informed about the status of all aspects of the project. The electrical subcontractor was great. The countertop sub was also good. I will get estimates from this company for future work, because the work was generally of good, if not great, quality and the price was reasonable.

I contacted Frank at Economy Kitchen and Bath in early July to have a shower installed for my disabled mother. I explained her requirements, and was satisfied that he understood what was needed, including making sure my parents felt they were in charge and keeping me informed at all stages of the work. He explained to me and my parents that the waiting time to get the work started was 4 weeks. He drew up the plans, which met with everyone's approval. We signed a contract for the work, and provided a $1500 deposit. The only glitch that occurred was my mother got confused about the 4 week waiting list and asked me why the job wasn't started yet. I called up Frank, and he straightened everything out, and even delighted my mother by telling her the job would start on 9/19, which was 4 weeks after we signed the contract. The work started on time, and was on budget. The workman was very professional, and put up plastic to make sure construction dust was contained to the bathroom. He cleaned up after each day's work, and did not track dust through the condo. The finished job is exactly as envisioned, and the workmanship is excellent. I would definitely call on Economy Kitchen and Bath again if needed.
Description of Work: The contractor removed an old prefab shower, tile surround, drywall, and plumbing. They got all the necessary permits and arranged to have the construction and plumbing inspected as required by the township. New drywall, upgraded shower unit, and plumbing fixtures were installed that could be reached while in a seated position. Basic white tile was placed above the shower unit and on the small wall alongside it.

They said the job would take 2 days-it took 2 days. They said they would arrive at 10AM and be gone at 4PM-they did. There was no mess for me to clean-up. Now I have two beautiful bathrooms!
Description of Work: Replaced shower door ,vanity, sink, counter, exhaust fan, faucet, and recaulked around tub in the upstairs bath. Took out an old toilet (the kind that has the tank attached to the wall above), replaced it with a new toilet, installed a new cabinet and sink with new faucet i9n the downstairs bath. They also installed light fixtures, which I supplied. I should also mention 2 mirrors, one was custom made and a roller drawer for one of the vanities.

I am extremely satisfied. Each phase of the process was explained to me. The owner visited the site and the work personally. At the end of each phase and inspection, there was at most a one day delay before they came back to resume work. My only problem was that the counter top company broke one of my counter tops in their shop the day of delivery and they had to make a new one at no charge to me, but I lost 3 days due to it happening over a holiday weekend. Being an old house, there were problems that were discovered only after work began. My cast iron vent pipe was cracked and the vent had to be repaired. This resulted in an extra charge for plumbing. One worker got over-zealous with a caulk gun sealing the old stove fan vent. The caulk went outside and onto the wall. I saw it after he had gone and called the company. The worker came back the same day to clean it up and got everything off the wall.
Description of Work: Renovated the kitchen, taking the room down to the studs. Excellent work. The company was very responsive to my calls and requests. Workers were courteous and paid attention to my requests. They handled the inspection scheduling and were back the next day to fix anything that failed. (The local plumbing code was an issue, not theirs.) This is an old house and the demolition was time consuming due to the old kitchen tile, but the work was done with minimal dust.

Visited Rahway showroom and had a ball picking and choosing what I wanted (like a kid in a candy shop). Frank, the sales manager, was wonderfully patient, responsive and helpful. Upon receipt of what I had ordered, he sent Pat, the installer, out to the house. Pat is a real marvel. He can do it all. He installed everything from a new sink to my tiles. The kitchen and bathrooms look fantastic. Pat was at the house from 8:30 in the morning until the evening for a few weeks (some days off as we waited for the granite countertop). Truthfully, I have never seen such great craftsmanship. I am now Pat and Frank's biggest fan. The price was reasonable as well. I have nothing but praise for this company. It's a great find and I would recommend them highly!!

Economy Kitchens & Baths' showroom is lovely. I met with Frank, the sales manager, to discuss replacement of my old kitchen countertop. Frank is very knowledgeable and patient and spent a great deal of time with me. I called Frank a couple days later and asked him to fax an estimate to me. He very promptly faxed a detailed and itemized estimate for the countertop that included all charges for material and labor that would be involved in the project. I did not choose Economy Kitchens & Baths to replace my countertop only because Lowes was running a promotion for quartz countertops that was too good to pass up as well as offering zero-percent financing over an extended period of time for the job. Although I went with Lowes for the reasons mentioned, I highly recommend Economy Kitchens & Baths.
Description of Work: Consultation at Economy Kitchens & Baths to discuss kitchen countertop replacement. Follow-up estimate.

Economy is always so accommodating. They started the job the day after Thanksgiving, removing my old appliances, so we could paint the room over the weekend. After the installation of the washer and dryer, I kept getting an error message with the dryer. The next day they sent Chris to help me with that, and he discovered that there was lint blocking the dryer vent up in the attic, going out to the roof. That was really not his responsibility, but he wanted my job to be perfect. This is my fourth job with Economy, and probably my last, because I don't have anything else to do! But if I ever move to another house, I will certainly call on them for my home renovations. They always go the extra mile for the customer, and do it with good-natured professionalism. I can't say enough good things about them.
Description of Work: Renovated laundry room. This is a very small room, only 5 x 6, so I wanted to change the door to open outward, into the hallway, instead of opening into the laundry room. They installed a new door, changed the configuration of the light switch, installed ceramic tile, and installed my new (stackable) washer and dryer.
