Description of Work: The realtor's contract for my house listed the refrigerator as excluded from the sale. After securing a buyer, I noticed that the refrigerator was "whited out" from the agreement without my permission. I was told later by my agent that the realtor from Terrie O'Connor, the buyer's agent, would be paying me directly for the refrigerator. The price agreed upon was $400. When I arrived at the closing, the buyer informed me, in the agent's presence, that he washed his shirt with the check in his pocket and he would be giving me the check later. The following week, I went to his office to pick up my check and it was for $250, not $400. When I called him about it, he told me that my agent said it was $250 and that I was "lucky to get what I got for my house". I was able to find correspondence between the attorneys that documented the price of the refrigerator. I finally got my check for $400, 2 weeks later. I think it is obvious that this agent, who is also the office manager for Terrie O' Connor's Ridgewood location, behaved extremely unprofessionally.

Description of Work: I am so happy with my real estate agent Laurin Steiger that I had to write about my experience with her for my very first Angie's List review. Laurin helped us find our dream home and guided us through our first home purchase. She's extremely knowledgeable about Bergen County and especially the Mahwah/Upper Saddle River/Saddle River/Allendale/Woodcliff Lakes area. I'm sure she also knows about other towns, but those were the areas that we asked her to focus on. Laurin has been wonderful since we first met her at an open house and continues to be an invaluable resource even after we purchased our house. I can call her up or email her at any time and know that she's going to respond quickly. She's also very personable and easy to talk to. Laurin immediately got a feel for our likes and dislikes and was able to quickly narrow down the list of potential houses to look at. She has been available at all hours of the day and every day of the week. She worked tirelessly with my attorney and the seller's agent to make our closing go as seamlessly as possible. I have recommended her to family members who are looking to purchase homes in NJ and they have also loved her.
