In Sept. 2015 I contacted Johnsons Odd Jobs concerning remodeling of my second floor bathroom. Owner Steven Johnson promptly came out to my home to discuss the job, take measurements and within a few days later he gave me an estimate to which I accepted. Project was to gut-out and remodel a small bathroom approx. 6x9 ft. In dimensions. The challenging issue with this project was correcting a floor that sloped severely, that developed over the years from water leaks and shoddy repairs. From Day 1 of the project Steven Johnson & crew would promptly arrive and professionals go about doing their work with very little disturbance to anyone in my home. The project took nearly 4 weeks to complete but I'm totally satisfied with Johnsons Odd Jobs quality of work, the transformation of my bathroom is really awesome! I will highly recommend Johnsons Odd Jobs to anyone and will use them again on future projects.

I have 2 windows and a door to be fixed and made weather ready. I also need a deck painted. The handy man (did not volunteer to give his name) seemed very uninterested. He just walked around, kept asking meaningless questions. For instance, when I talked about painting the deck, he asked if I needed the posts painted as well. He kept up that charade with every part. He seemed extremely disinterested in the job. Then before leaving, he told me that he will call with an estimate on the following Wednesday. That was about 15-20 days ago. I have yet to hear from him. Since, I was never going to hire him, I never called back.

Response from Johnson's Odd Jobs
This was clearly not a good contractor/customer fit. As a licensed, insured and professional Angie's List contractor, [Member name removed] way of wanting this job executed was completely not in line with our standards. The home in question was in a state of disrepair and the questions she stated were "meaningless," were in complete conjunction with the tasks at hand. If you paint the deck, normally you paint the posts one would think, but you just can't assume that so it's proper to ask. There were no "charades" as claimed, he simply asked questions more in line with doing the projects correctly from a common sense stand point and a professional stand point. We can truly understand budget constraints, however, we won't sacrifice quality work by doing a poor job in a less then professional manner. Unfortunately, [Member Name Removed] wanted us to piece work/patch work her projects in a manner that was far beneath our quality of standards. We understand that having "Odd Jobs" in the our name may indicate a broad array of tasks performed, however, we will not execute less then quality work and put our name on it. This is what was being dictated by the homeowner in an effort to cut costs. There are many contractors who I am sure would be interested in doing a poor job as she wanted, however, that is not in line with what we do. In short, we were not the right contractor for this particular homeowner and it was very evident after a short period of time during the walk through. We wish her well in finding a contractor more suitable for her needs.

It took longer then expected because there was more work to do on the deck then we both thought. They came everyday ( weather permitting ) until it was done. The sliding door was not a replacement but a new install. They were able to match my siding so that it looks like it was there all the time.

We had a horrible old outdated kitchen that was in need of a complete remodel. Johnson's Odd Jobs gave us the best price and we liked the fact that Steve hired American workers and was not a Salesman - he actually did the work. Our kitchen is now beautiful and functional. Steve had some good ideas and went over and above by extending the wall when I couldn't find a refrigerator to fit the space. He also suggested we use the marble flooring as the backsplash when we over ordered the flooring and cut every tile which was a lot of work. His wife, Tiffany was a pleasure to work with and she provided all the behind the scene support and I felt true friendship from her. I really enjoyed her bubbly personality. We will use Johnson's odd jobs again in the future because Steve and Tiffany are more than just contractors, they care about their customers.

I've actually worked with this company in the past and am still amazed at the quality of work they provide. Steve Johnson has always been professional and quite a perfectionist in everything that he has done for me. It is impossible to recommend this guy too highly. If you want quality work at a reasonable price then you certainly can't go wrong with contracting with Johnson's Odd Jobs.

Overall experience with Johnson's Odd Jobs was good. In my opinion, it could have been better with a little bit of additional communication (maybe from both sides). Steve and his team was punctual, professional and cleaned up after them. The quality of work was excellent barring some minor plumbing issues that deteriorated our usage of newly upgraded bathroom.

The service was okay. The only problem is the time estimation which the guy gave us. It was for one and a half weeks, and it went almost for four weeks. They did a good job. They made the custom cabinets the way I wanted, and the bathroom is also good. The only problem with them is that they took a lot of time. The price was actually good. I may not use them again in the future; I'm just concerned about the time management they have.

Response from Johnson's Odd Jobs
The added additional work onto what the contractor gave them a time estimate on first of all. They added tile work AFTER the estimated time frame was given. Second and equally important, as per their request, the contractor was only allowed to start at their house after 9am on a particular day after 11am on another as the wife had things to do. When asked what our hours of work were, we stated 8am-4:30pm give or take. We were told at the start of the job that they have a toddler who was not an early riser. The guys were never really allowed a full 8 hour day to work. That is not conducive to getting things done in a timely manner in the construction world. Another contributing factor was the unforeseen fact that in making the built in closet and at other points of this remodel there were unaccounted for problems that had to be addressed. The built in had to be reconfigured because of the chimney that was directly in the way. As it is in most remodels, the homeowner forgets the fact that they add on work and situations arise that cause the project to take longer then estimated.

I hired Johnson's Odd Jobs to complete my major home renovation after extensive water damage from a busted pipe. . Rooms in need of repair included a complete kitchen remodel, complete bath remodel, 2nd bathroom reconfiguration, and extensive ceiling, wall and floor repairs in 3 bedrooms, living room, dining room, hallway and basement. Several rooms had to be completely gutted, relocated, reconfigured and/or rebuilt into what is now my dream home. When the insurance company short changed me on the claim, Johnson's Odd Jobs contacted them, requested a re-inspection and fought tirelessly until they won the battle of getting me more money for repairs. They beat their competitor's pricing and were very professional, accommodating, considerate and caring. I just can't say enough about them other than that I they will be my sole contractor of choice for any future projects. Before the renovation, this was a house. It is now my dream home! Thanks Johnson's Odd Jobs!

Description of Work: This company advertises that no business is too small. Hoever, they cancelled an estimate appointment of a $30,000 addition in order to get a bigger more eexpensive job. I guess my money is "too small". It's actually better for me and saved me a headache from them doing a half "axx" job because it too little money. Come September, at the end of the season when contractors are scavenging for jobs and money. I hope they remember how "small" my job was.

Response from Johnson's Odd Jobs
This "rating/comment" is totally incorrect. This consumer sent us an email stating the contractor showed up 45 minutes late (we cancelled and no one came to her house from our company.) We told her she must have us confused with another company. She seemed quite irate in her email response as she does in her AL rating. Our company is listed incorrectly on another contractor website and we do not do additions, that is one of the reasons we respectfully declined the job. We have since corrected that issue. The admin made the appointment with the homeowner prior to confirming with the contractor that we weren't going to take on this kind of work. We extended our apology for that mistake. We never said anything about declining the job because we took on a bigger job, we told her that the contractor had just taken on a big job and would not be able to get to her. Any GC could sub out her job to another company but we opted not to do that. We stated that it wouldn't be fair to have her waiting. Incidentally, $30,000 is not what we would consider a "small job" as we are not a huge builder/contracting company, this is why we state "no job is too small." All of our customers know us to be nothing less then courteous and professional and we would never tell someone that we didn't want there job because we chose to take on a bigger job. Any company knows that kind of statement would be completely rude and could definitely damage your credibility as a good contractor. Based on our ratings from customers who have actually used our services, the assumption of "half axx" work is not only off color on a professional website but it is off based as well. We wish her the best in finding a contractor to service her needs going forward.

It was a great experience overall. From day one he came in immediately got to work. Some days he didn't even stop to take lunch.
Description of Work: Completed a total bathroom renovation. Gutted down to the studs. New floors and walls and lighting. Quoted a great price on labor allowing more money to be spent on quality materials. He gave great suggestions and never changed his original quote even though he ended up doing more work than originally asked. We will be hiring him and his team for our kitchen remodel in 2014.

There was a delay with the permits. And with the countertops, the countertops, was the vendor's fault. That delayed the kitchen, from being finish, by two weeks. But other than that, it went well.
