did 1st floor a couple of months ago. just did 2nd floor. looks great, worked hard, returned msgs, I have nothing but praise. I should be so lucky w/ other contractors. and I'm a contractor.

Jim did such an amazing job on our floors. He replaced several boards that had holes or were broken. He even laid wood down in our closet to make everything look uniform. He went above and beyond fixing so many things that we didn't even realize were a problem. We wanted our handrails to match the floor so we go new rails and he stained them to match without charging extra. He was clean, on time and extremely professional. We would definitely hire him again.

When Jim first came to the house to work up an estimate, his 30 years of experience was apparent. He gave sound advice and seemed very knowledgeable when it came to finishes, etc. When it came time to perform the work, Jim was punctual and kept me informed as the job progressed. Jim and his helper cleaned up each day and left the house in good shape each evening. The end product looks great!

I obtained three estimates for the job. Jim (the owner) showed up on time and provided the least expensive cost for the job. He and his helper, Ryan, showed up at the appointed time on day 1. They did an excellent job of taping plastic sheeting all around to keep any dust out of the rest of the house. On day 1 they completed the sanding and put down the first coat of polyurithane. We had elected to go with the water based poly as it dries very quickly and doesn't have the odors associated with oil base. We also elected to go with the natural wood without any stain. On the morning of day 2 they showed up on time and put down the second coat and later that afternoon they returned and put down the third coat. Prior to starting they moved the heavy pieces of dining room furniture out of the room. They returned two days after completing the floors and moved the furniture back into the dining room. The floors look great. They also sanded and put poly on the doorway saddles and puttied several wide cracks between the boards. Overall very pleased with the job and found it a pleasant surprise to find a contractor who actually shows up and does what he says he's going to do and does it on time. Highly recommended..

Wow! My floors look fabulous!! James and his colleague were terrific. They did everything to make this task move efficiently from start to finish. Everything was neat at the end of each day, and the end product is beautiful. I receive compliments aplenty, and I have given James' contact information out to all my acquaintances who have asked. I would not hesitate to recommend Don's Floor Sanding and Refinishing, and, in fact, have a call in to them to ask them to do my deck next!

Terrible Experience. Hired Jim to do sand/poly and floor repair (rental property) where wood needed to be matched to existing. In two areas, match is satisfactory. In third, one board in the center of the room is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT color. I wish I could include a photo here-it is hard to believe, really. The floor is brown and the replacement board is white. Had payed him prior to seeing the work-stupid I know, but he was rec'd by a friend, so I trusted him. Then began the adventure of trying to get him to come back-phone calls, emails, no shows, weeks going by. Finally reached him again and he said he would take a look. It never happened. Also, he (or crew) left the house an absolute mess. Dismantled shelves in a closet, took down installed shades, removed a massive mirror above a staircase, removed baseboard heat vent covers, left everything dusty and put nothing back together. He argued with me when I said that he should have informed me that the place would be left in such a state/that he should inform future clients of such. The final insult was when he defended the awful floor repair saying "It's just one white board." (!) I informed him at this point that I had already hired someone else to clean and put the place back together, and I just wanted him to fix the one floor board. He told me that "I should get someone else to replace the floor too." And promptly hung up on me. A red flag: he insisted on coming to my home (different town) same day to pick up his $$ before I could get a chance to see the work. My stupidity-I trusted him. Now it will cost me even more to get the floor repaired correctly in addition to the cost of a handyman to reassemble and put back everything that was dismantled/removed. I feel completely violated by this entire experience, and I paid for the privilege. Run, don't walk to a different flooring company.

I can not brag more about how nice the floors look. This was a big job - approx 4000sf. From start to finish, jim communicated well, answered all my questions and exceeded my expectations. We stayed in house and they minimized dust and smell and moved furniture. Had to work around the very snowy weather but kept me well informed of days he couldn't come. Would and will use him again.

He arrived to do the work with his staff the following week right on time, moved all the furniture and did an absolutely beautiful job. I expect to hire him again next month to work on my deck when the weather cooperates. His work is first rate, he is a pleasure to deal with and I would recommend him highly to anyone.

I found the work to be very well done and the workmen friendly and clean. I will definitely use them for our next floor refinishing project.

As painful an experience as this was, I must say that I was impressed with Jim's professionalism from the onset. Not only did he show up, but he was PRECISELY on time ( a rarity in this day and age!) Jim provided us with a fair estimate for the job and duration of the work. I was a bit surprised that he noted the written estimate on a business card. However, he delivered a more formal estimate via email within 24 hours. Jim answered all of our questions honestly and readily accomodated our scheduling needs. As we had agreed to begin work several weeks after the estimate was provided, I had to follow up with Jim to ensure we were still on schedule for the work to begin as planned. Personally, I believe this confirmation should have come from Jim rather than us. As with the estimate, Jim and his associate arrived on time daily. They took great care to keep the remainder of our home clean and applied plastic within each doorway. I was surprised at how little dust remained after the floors were sanded. Our floor had been refinished approximately 12 years ago and the prior contractor left quite a mess. After each day's work, Jim and his associate left our home in relatively clean condition. Since we live in an English Tudor house, our home is rather dark. Jim showed us 3 stains that would compliment our decor. Rather than staying with the same color that we had, we opted to go lighter. When the stain had dried the following morning, we were displeased with the color and requested a darker shade. Jim was very accomodating of our request and re-stained the entire area. The following day, Jim applied the poly sealant. Unfortuately, due to poor lighting, there were several areas that Jim was unable to see and hence missed coating. My husband attempted to correct these areas by manually applying additional sealant. However, the next day the floors were noticably streaked. Jim promptly returned to correct the problem, but unfortunately, spot corrections did not improve the overall quality. Jim recognized our disappointment and re-sealed the entire area at no additional cost to us. After 2 weeks of inhailing stain and sealant, the job was finally completed. I was extremely impressed with Jim's tenacity to complete the job to our satisfaction. Despite the extra labor involved, he only charged us an additonal $100 for the 2nd coat of stain. I must say, all the pain was well worth it. The floors look incredible and as good as new. Most impressive were the stairs that were in dire repair after 2 Old English Sheepdogs! As you can see, we are tough critics that expect outstanding service. I am pleased to say that Jim fully delivered and I would highly recommend him without reservation!

Don's Floor Sanding Service did an excellent job. They sanded the floors in our hallway both on the first and second floors. They stained the floors, stairs and all the railings. They were very professional. The job took five days and each day they did a great job of cleaning up. After all the sanding there was no mess in the rest of the house. They made sure they hung up plastic to keep the dust and mess contained. James was very patient with us. He suggested and helped us pick out the color of stain we wanted. He mixed several combinations of colors and applied them to small patches on the floor so we could see the actual color before it was applied. He stained the floor, stairs and railings as well as applied two coats of poly. The cost was very reasonable and we would definitely use him again as well as refer him to anyone that is looking to have this type of work done in their home.

Estimate provided was detailed. Restained and refinished floors over a period of few days. Did a great job.

Jim and his crew arrived on time and started preparing the rooms for the sanding portion of the job. In speakink with Jim he asked if I would be interested in geting the rest of the fist floor hardwood floors in the house sanded and refinished so they all would look brand new. The additional rooms included the livingroom, dining room, a fourteen foot hall way and eight steps going down to the lower floor of my Bi-Levelsanded. Since Jim and his crew were already at my house and had brought all of their equipment he could offer me a great price to do the entire first floor. The price was exceptional and I agreed to have the entire first floor refinished. It come out fabulous. All the floorsand steps look brand new. No one would every know they were 40 years old. Jim and his crew took about three days to complete the job and after a few days of drying time I was able to get a better llook in depth of the great job Jim and his crew had performed. I would highly recommend you consider giving Don's Flooring a call if you need new hardwood floors installed, or just sanded down to bare wood and refinished like I had done. Well. He gave me an estimate which was the final price. Showed up when he said they would and did a good job. Two pleasant fellows.

Jim and his team did a great job with our parquet floors. We were missing some tiles and he custom cut new ones to seamlessly replace them. They sanded, stained, and put 3 coats of poly down. Craftsmanship was top notch. Only MINOR complaint was I was told it would be a 2-3 day job and it ended up taking around 5. There were some timing issues / weekend days that contributed so I can't 100% blame Jim. I would definitely recommend using him and will use him again to refinish other floors in my house.

He was straightforward which I like a lot. He came over and did the estimate. I was doing some of the work myself to keep the cost low so he gave me some pointers of taking the baseboards down which was like he did not have to do that and I thought that was very helpful. I will use him in the future to provide me with estimates.

Jim and his team did a great job for me the day after Memorial Day. His team worked very clean considering, I had just painted the living room and the hallway and stairs on both floors. No damage was made to any of my work. My wife and family are very impressed with the quality of work performed and how our oak floors look. I have showed my neighbors his work, and suggested they use his service in the future for thier homes

Called and spoke with Don's Floor Sanding on Tuesday. Made an estimate appointment for Thursday 2PM. Gave him my name, address and phone number. Called Don's on Thursday at 10AM and left a voice mail with my phone number asking for an updated ETA (just in case he was running late). Left work early and was home by 1:45 PM. By Thursday evening, no one showed up or called. Recieved a phone call on Friday afternoon asking to reschedule the Thursday appointment. I declined and informed him that I would not use his services.
