To address "puddling" in the backyard, Tom was paid over $10000 in April 2010 to replace poured cement foundation on the side and back of the house with paver stone. The pavers being installed were supposed to whisk water away from the house when it rains. In one area of the backyard this is not occurring! Not only is it not occurring but due to faulty workmanship now the runoff from the neighbors yard comes into mine; so now I have mud puddles every time it rains! After numerous phone calls, he come in July 2010 to see what needed to be done. He agreed that the matter needed to be rectified - yet he was never seen from or heard from again, despite continuous phone messages and emails. The one time he did answer - nearly a year later, he said he would be here by the end of the week but never showed up and never bothered to follow up! Tom's work comes with a guarantee stating any issues will be corrected in a "timely fashion". It has now been one year and one month that I have been wasting my life chasing him around trying to get him to honor his word/work. Disgraceful! *UPDATE* I wanted to update that since having reported on Angie's List, Tom finally came around and made the necessary repairs to the pavers. My neighbors yard no longer washes into mine every time it rains!

Response from Thomas Flint Landscape Design & Development
I was contacted in April of 2010 to correct a flooding basement problem. With every heavy rain, the client would get flooding in their finished basement. I explained to them that the problem was that the old concrete patio was not properly pitched and was causing runoff water to move toward the back door causing flooding inside. We removed the old patio, which was improperly pitched toward the house, and replaced it with a properly pitched paver patio. The patio we installed was built to excede industry standards and, to the best of my knowledge, has worked perfectly since the installation. The basement has not flooded since the project was completed, even with the many hurricanes that we have had. The client's problem was not due to faulty or poor craftsmanship, but was the result of a homeowner constructed vegetable garden which acted as a dam, not allowing the water to run off as designed. What the client describes as "puddling" occurred because the water was sitting along side the garden, which was raised above the top of the patio. This vegetable garden was constructed after the project was complete. I explained this to them but they were not willing to accept my solution. They disregarded the fact that the garden they constructed was the cause of the problem. They just wanted me to fix the "puddling" because it was on the patio that I built. After many angry and rude phone calls, I corrected the problem at my expense to avoid an upset customer from inflicting damage on my hard earned reputation. This client was given excellent customer service and they even hired us again to do another project in the frontyard after the completion of the backyard. Of course, this all happend before they installed the vegetable garden. In conclusion, I feel this posting should be removed because it is not an accurate portrayal of the situation and I went above and beyond my obligations to this client by fixing a problem that we did not create. I started this business in 2003 and have worked tirelessly to achieve a great reputation for top quality craftsmanship and the best customer service in the industry. This posting was just recently brought to my attention and I wanted to the opportunity to provide my side of the situation. Please see my BBB A+ rating or contact me for an extensive list of customers which will accuractly describe their experience with my company. Thank you for your consideration, Tom Flint 201-327-5162
