Carlson Brothers returned my call promptly after my initial phone call to them. Although this may seem minor, I have had a tremendous amount of trouble getting contractors to actually return my calls. They then scheduled a consult/estimate within days of my initial call, showed up on time, and gave us a reasonable estimate to replace two skylights. We also seemed to have a roof leak, which was causing some damage in our living room, and the guy who came out thought that it may have been an old stain bleeding through rather than recent damage -- we bought the house recently so we had no idea if it was an old stain or new damage. We later discovered (after some heavy rains) that it was definitely a roof problem; HOWEVER, I cannot fault the guy because we had another roofer from a totally different company come in and say the exact same thing without any prompting from me. Anyway, once they came to replace the skylights, I showed the repairmen the stain and explained that it was definitely recent damage because I felt that the ceiling was wet during a recent heavy rain. The repairmen assured me that they'd do their best to locate the problem and repair it. I came home from work that evening to beautiful new (hopefully) non-leaking skylights and a patched roof. Now it hasn't rained heavily since they have been to do the repairs at my home so I can't say for certain whether everything was done totally right but if their professionalism is any sign of their workmanship . . . .I have no worries!

We called and got exactly what we needed at a time when we were worried. From the first professional call and response to the visit to our home, this service provider was an ace!

It went very well they were professitional on time neat and they did everything that was stated in the estimate. On time and most importantly the finished roof looks good.

Even though it was a small job, Carlson Brothers returned phone calls, came when they said they would, and did a fine job on the replacement of storm damaged gutters and over hangs. The total experience from start to finish was a pleasure. I would recommend them highlly

Although the job took longer than originally anticipated, it was because of the extent of damage. They did not raise the price of their original quote! Besides being neat and professional, the workers were truly lovely and pleasant. I recommend this company with absolutely no reservations.

Ron was prompt and professional in fixing our leaky roof. He used modern technology and took photos for me to view of the issues we had. He determined the root of the problem, gave us a fair price, and came back and fixed the problem quickly and effectively. We would recommend Carlson Brothers to another.

A serviceman showed up on time and went on the roof to check out the leakage; he explained everything to us as to why the roof was leaking. We agreed on a date to have the repairs done. On that day, the serviceman was prompt and professionally explained what he was going to do; within hours, the roof was repaired to our satisfaction and relief. They also sent 8"X11" color photographs of the damage, the repairs as they were being done, and the final result. I am very happy with this company, which also honored the $100 Angie's List coupon. They also did not mind that my new puppy continually jumped up on them in an excess of puppy enthusiasm. They are wonderful workers and very nice people.

Arrived promply when I called for a quote. Did the job one week later. Removed 2 layers of roofing and replaced it in one day. Did a very good job in cleanup. Was very satisfied and would highly recommend them.

They were prompt in keeping the initial appointment and they provided the estimate very quickly. They were in the middle in terms of cost compared to the 2 other roofers but I chose them because of the positive feedback on AL and because they easily accommodated my request to use Energy Star shingles (for the tax rebate) even though they were not readily available in Northern NJ. It took some time to get the job scheduled once I signed the contract but that was due to bad weather in the late fall/winter and my late request to change the shingles. Almost all of the job was completed in one day and they cleaned up around the grounds so well that I didn't even know they had done the work until I looked out at the roof that night. They needed to return to add on a small section of hip/ridge shingles that weren't available when the job was done initially. Their office returned calls promptly and also provided me with the original receipts for the shingles and all the paperwork I'd need for the tax rebate. Overall I was very satisfied and wouldn't hesitate to call on them again for roofing work. They were a pleasure to work with.

Overall a great experience. The sales representative was very professional, courteous and accomodating as we took a considerable amount of time in selecting the type of roofing shingle and color. They completed the job in one day, and left the area around the house clean of any debris. Included in the job was Atticat fiberglass insulation blown into the attic crawlspace area and installation of new gutters with gutter-guards. Carlson Brothers also took care to paint one of the downspouts that ran across the roof in the same color as the roofing shingles so that it would blend in with the roof. We have been happy with the results, and think that we got quality and professional service.

We would recommend them highly. They were very good. We had a house in New Jersey at the time and then we needed to do our roof. Anytime we've used anybody from Angie's List, we haven't been disappointed at all. It's been good so far. It does cost a lot of money to do that and it was very reasonable. We didn't want slate because that just would have been too expensive. The roof they put on was very good and I think they gave us a life time warranty on it. They were very professional, very neat and they cleaned up after themselves. We had no problems with them at all. Their price was very good because a lot of people didn't want to be bothered removing that slate roof. We would use them again in the future if need be.

Told us roof old but ok for now and iced gutter real problem. Was professional, explained options. When I suggested additional work he told me waste of money !!!! This man is an honest hard working contractor. I have no business or family ties to him just plucked out of Angie's list. Wife and I work out of town most conversations over telephone. He went to house and fixed problem without any supervision.

They had a hi-tech photo application they used, so that they could show me what the shingles would look like when they were done, and I was totally unimpressed by the "finished" product picture.

Everything went great. Rich Carlson answered my call right away. Came over immediately. He explained the problem and we discussed the issue and how to solve the leaking. He then installed the heater cable right away. No problems since. I have used Carlson Bros. before and will not hesitate to use them again if needed.

I called Carlson Bros about my dormers leaking. They arrived on time for the quote and gave me a fair price. I was able to set up a date within the next 3 days to have my dormers fixed. They replaced the old flashing on both dormers. They were very friendly and the job was done professional. As of now I can't tell if it leaks because there hasn't been any rain yet. As long as they don't leak I would recommend them.

I called Carlson Bros. (based on rating here) about a leak in our roof from bathroom exhaust. They arrived on time for the quote. Provided a clear explanation of the services required and cost. Stated it would be scheduled in the next 10 days and arrived in 3 days to complete the work. Outstanding friendly and professional services. Fantastic job (Still have to wait for a good rain to measure how it holds up but we had some rain and it was fine) UPDATE: It has been several weeks and we have had several days of rain and not one drop made it in. Excellent!

I called Carlson Bros. (based on Angie's List reports) about a leak I'd noticed behind a wall in our upstairs hall. I was able to reach them at 7:30 AM (!!!). Ron Carlson came out to take a look and found that the sealing of the flashing around the chimney was cracked and deteriorating. While on the roof he also noticed that a piece of siding on our dormer was missing. They did the work the very next business day. I noticed that the siding I'd left out to put on the dormer hadn't been touched, so I called and he said he'd forgotten about it, but quoted me a day 3 days later when they would come back. They came back, put up the piece of siding, and didn't charge anything additional. There's a reason for the good reviews and the Carlson Bros. signs you see all over Bergen County. This is a solid, reputable business. I would not hesitate to recommend or use their services again. Excellent all the way around.

Their quote was in line with other roofers that I looked into, but since one was slightly lower than their bid, I went with another company.

Seven years ago I had Carlson Brothers replace my roof and gutters. As far as installing the new roof and gutters, the job went fine. Carlson Brothers did it quickly and were very good in the clean up afterwards. The trouble came about last year when the roof started leaking. I called Carlson brothers to come and fix the leak. I was and still am under a 12 year workmanship warranty, but it seems that warranty doesn't me any thing to Carlson Brothers. I called Carlson brothers to have them come and fix my roof. On the first attempted repair, the repairman told me over the phone that it was an easy fix. The next time it rained my roof was still leaking. I called Carlson brothers again, and again and again, but result was always the same. I gave up trying to get Carlson brothers to honor their warranty and fix my roof from leaking. I am now hiring a third roof contractor to fix my roof. The jury is still out on this company, but the company was recommend to me by a friend who is a local realtor. When the owner of the company examined my roof he found rotted plywood under the shinges and he told me that the work done was horrible. I have contracted him to repair my roof and this includes replacing the roof of the entire dormer of my house, which is about a third of the whole roof. Carlson brothers did the job cleanly and quickly and was inexpensive, but it has become clear that their workmanship was poor; a roof should not need major repair after only 6 or 7 year from the date it was installed. What is even more disappointing is that Carlson Brothers would not honor the terms of its Warranty. I will never even think to call Carlson Brothers ever again. Goodness knows, I called them enought to fix my roof, which they were honor bound to do and they failed.

I noticed a stain on my bedroom ceiling so i went in the attic and saw a wet spot on the floor, i used a roofer several years ago to fix a different leak but it wasnt the most professional company, this time i had angies list so i tried carlson brothers. The women on the phone was polite but the main difference was the person who came out to the house. It was Ron, one of the owners, not just a random employee. He found what the problem was and fixed it on the spot. I havent had a problem since. I would definitely use his company again.

He seemed very professional. I am doing flat roofing, but they are not familiar with the material that I want to use. He is getting more information on the material that I want to use. He has been good about staying in touch with e-mails and such. It is taking a bit longer than expected to get the information. I may use him depending on what he comes back with.
