I decided to go with a different roofer based on price alone but was very pleased with the experience. Other roofers I had called were either slow, tried to convince me I needed extra work or played the game of giving me one price if I go through insurance and another if I pay out of pocket...

Overall everything was great. If it wasn't for Ron Carlson, I would have never been able to afford a new roof. We called Carlson Brothers because we had a leak in the kitchen. While investigating the leak, Ron noticed some missing shingles and suggested it may be from Hurricane Sandy. He suggested calling our insurance company to see if they would cover the damage. To my great surprise, my insurance company came out to the house a few days later. The inspector agreed the damage was from Sandy and even pointed out other damage in another part of the roof. Three days later, I had a check to help replace the roof. The timing was great because we would have needed a new roof within the next five years and I surely didn't have the money for a roof. Go figure - new roof from Sandy 9 months after the fact. Rons crew arrived on time at 7:30, immediately unloaded their tools, set up shop and began taking down the old roof. They covered and protected EVERYTHING! My pavers, air conditioner condenser, siding, etc were all protected. They even moved the clothes line. At least three of my "neighbors" had their roofs replaced lately and I didn't see any of the companies they used protect anything, especially to the extent of Ron and crew. There were more than enough people on site to do the job. I think there were at least 5 guys working on our roof. No slacking off or anything - they worked until the job was complete. One would think a bomb went off - taking off an old roof makes a huge mess. Except for a few pieces of shingles I noticed after the fact on the window ledges, they cleaned up extremely well. Trust me when I say it was a huge mess - it goes with the job - but the fact their wasn't more of a mess left behind was impressive. They even picked up the pieces that ended up in my above ground garden that I was convinced they would miss. Furthermore, one of the workers went over the property with something that does a magnetic sweep and picks up any stray nails. Upon walking around my house, I noticed a nail and piece of siding were resting on the fan of my condenser. I think it fell in when the tarp was removed- I mentioned it to Keith - he promptly got his DeWalt drill removed the top of the condenser and took out the debris.

That was June 15th and today is July 23rd. I phoned 2 weeks ago to follow up. Once again got a call back immediately and when I explained the situation was told it would be looked into and I would receive a call back. Nothing but radio silence. Obviously, this company cares only about the huge jobs that take thousands of dollars and nothing regarding something that while insignificant to their time could have possibly amounted to a fabulous review and more great word of mouth. Guess they don't need business.

Very well. Good follow up and fast fixes on any discrepancies. Our squirrels hate it, no where to live now, they can't get in and neither does the rain.

They were excellent and very professional. I had gone to four different roofers and with this guy, when he said he'd showed up, he showed up, came an hour north from where I live and looked at it, did some siding also in my house that was damaged because of my neighbor's tree. When he came, he gave me a fair estimate because I did a lot of pricing around, he was no nonsense and told me exactly what he's going to do and what day he's going to do it. The guys came on time, started at 8:00 in the morning, broke at 12:00 for lunch, went back to work at 12:30 and was done at 3:00 and the next day, the gutter guy came. He was excellent, everything was professional. The owner stayed for an hour and there was one guy in-charge and everything was methodical. I was watching them and they protected all my bushed, my plants, all my furniture, my porch, and there was no damage. It was a very windy day when they came and the workers went up and down the street to make sure that any of the debris that may have fallen off, they went and picked it up in my neighbors' yard. I would highly recommend them. I was pleasantly surprised, didn't ripped me off and his prices were fair. He wasn't the cheapest price but was the best value. The guys were on time, did their job, no goofing around and they cleaned up.

It went great! We had a leak in our roof and we were just thinking that we would get an estimate, but Ron came and found the issue within minutes! He showed a picture of where the problem was and fixed it right on the spot! He only charged us $20.00 and was done so quickly. The problem was caused by where our siding company attached their scaffolding (they attached it incorrectly and left a hole which was the cause of our leak). Ron also checked the entire roof to make sure there were no other problems, he let us know that it was in good shape. Ron was a great guy - polite, professional and knowledgeable. We really appreciate that he was honest and didn't rip us off. If we ever need work on our roof in the future, Carlson Brothers will definitely get the job!

Did a grate job showed up on time and cleaned up and removed all of the garbage.

I called Ron Carlson on June 11th for an estimate on replacing missing roof shingles from hurricane Sandy. The tarp I had secured on the roof over the missing shingles had started to fail allowing water to enter the house. Ron's office scheduled a visit to prepare an estimate for 11am on June 13th. Ron called me early on the 13th to move up the appointment due to heavy rains that were scheduled to arrive by 11am. He finished surveying the damage and prepared an estimate just before the heavy rains came. He then was able to accommodate our need for a very quick repair by scheduling the work to be done on Monday the17th. His crew arrived on time and were done by noon and we haven't had any issues. Carlson Brothers returned my initial call promptly and professionally, were prompt and did a nice job. I would recommend them and use them again if the need arises.

As above. We saved 1,000 dollars, compared to other Angie's list provider, who is highly rated too. I am delighted and somewhat shocked to have met an honest provider, who knows his profession. I would trust this roofer for all and any future roofing job. Thank you, thank you, Angie's list.

Outstanding, no complaints, Doug the owner came out and provided a fair estimate which was competitive will other providers. The estimate was very detailed and explained exactly what was included along with different options to choose from. They handled the permit, and even followed up afterwards. They also warranty their work for 12 years where all other competitors only provide 10 years. After we agreed to go with Carlson's brother's we were provided a detailed contract explaining how the process would go and what to expect. (No suprises :) The best part is we explained that we would be going away on vacation and wanted to have the work done before we left and that we we needed some time to have a painter work on the house to. Carlson's Bro's was able to accommodate and did an outstanding job on the house, even though the weather was not to cooperative. Thanks Carlson's Brothers for the good work, and Angies List for the recomending them. We will definately use in the future and recomend them to friends

With the rain we have been having we thought the job would never get started. But they came when they said they would, did the job (even in the pouring rain) and did the work on the demolition on an old disgusting porch. They cleaned up every day which was a pleasure for us as we have dogs that checked the progress and could have gotten into trouble otherwise. Anytime we had questions they responded very quickly and kept us in the loop throughout. My neighbors have been amazed at how nice and quickly the job was done. They were terrific. I highly recommend them!

Our experience was an Angie's List success story. Our original roof was 25 years old and we wanted to pro-actively replace it before problems started occurring. Having never done a roofing project before, we were filled with intrepidation. The structure is a three story multiple condo unit with oodles of angles and lots of chimneys and other roofing nightmares. We used Angie's List and obtained a list of contractors in our area. We decided to go with Carlson Brother even though their price was not the lowest, but primarily because of their responsiveness and professionalism. They offered multiple packages and enabled us to chose a product and warranty that we felt secure (given the new weather patterns that we are now experiencing: Super-Storm Sandy, etc). All our questions were answered, and the more we spoke with Carlson Brothers, the more it became apparent that they were focused experts. Thanks to materials received from this contractor, we were able to prepare a complete package for the members of the Condo to review the scope and breath of the project. Carlson Brothers were very accommodating and extended their quotation to allow the condo board sufficient time to hold its annual meeting and receive a go-ahead form the members. Once underway, Carlson Brothers took care of everything (town permits, etc). The work was estimated to cover three to four days. It was completed in two days as they added additional staffing from their other projects so that this could be completed before the anticipated rain. The team of workers were also very professional, they worked very well as a team, very methodical! Each day, they did a meticulous clean-up; not a nail to be found on the ground. The project turned out to be a success and we would recommend this contractor to anybody in need of roofing work. They know what they are doing, they know how to schedule their work, they show up when they say they would, and the work is excellent.

Carlson Brothers returned my call promptly and came to give an estimate within a couple of days. They said it would be over a week before they had time to do the job, but they called a few days later and said they could do it the next day. They worked quickly and finished in under 3 hours. They were professional and courteous. Will the roof leak again? That remains to be seen, but I am confident that if it does, Carlson Brothers will take care of it!

They repilied to my phone request promptly on a friday. We shceduled for an estimate and repair the following Tuesday. They were prompt and performed the service quickly and efficiently.

I submitted my request via the web site, on a Sunday, and they got back to me the next business day. I had water leaking onto the kitchen ceiling and suspected there was trouble with the roof. A representative came out to the house, inspected the roof and recommended re-doing the flashing and tarring around the chimney. I was quoted a price of $350, but they said they couldn't get to it for another 1-2 weeks. That was just a bit longer than I was willing to wait. - I co-own this home with my brother. He had contacted another company, who also came out and had the very same evaluation/recommendation, but at a price of $275. He came over and fixed it in 2 business days (it was raining on the first day). Overall, Carlson was very professional and responsive and I would look to them, again, for a future need. It just didn't work out this time.

Had one of the Carlson's show up to take a look to repair flashing and complete gutter installation. He arrived on time on a Saturday morning. He gave me a reasonable price and then told me he would have his secretary write me a formal written estimate. I never received a follow up phone call or the estimate. Not sure what happened but not a good impression. I will find someone else to do the work.

I joined Angie?s list right after Hurricane Sandy in October of 2012. I was luckier than most but the high winds took a toll on my roof and I was also in need of a mason. Here is my long overdue review. I found 3 roofers on Angie?s list that I was comfortable with and in the end we chose Carlson Brothers Roofing. Doug Carlson was very knowledgeable and helped answer many of my questions. After doing much research I decided I wanted to go with the Owens Corning product and Carlson Brothers is rated by Owens Corning as a ?Platinum? level certified installer of their product line. As if that wasn?t enough Doug actually appears in a promotional video Owens Corning uses to explain the benefits of their brand and roofing system. Between that, his personality and his previous feedback on Angie?s list, choosing Carlson Bothers was an easy decision. Doug was not the least expensive of all the bids but he worked with me on the price and I?m a firm believer in ?you get what you pay for? and price alone should NEVER be the sole consideration. In early discussions with my insurance company it looked like they might want to pay 25-40% of the cost for a new roof as a result of the storm. Doug was instrumental in helping me work with them to cover closer to 80-90% of my costs. Doug is a likeable, honest, easy-going guy who stands behind his work. When Doug came to my house he suggested we add more insulation to the attic. Given the cost and my other expenses, I decided not to at this time. Doug said at minimum I should go to a home improvement store and get a pre-fab insulated tent that Owens Corning makes to go over the opening in my pull down attic stairs. Doug explained that there is no R-Value at all in that area and we?re loosing energy like crazy from that spot. He said it?s probably a $50 -$60 item but well worth the small investment. I said thanks for the advice and moved on to all my other storm related repairs. Well, don?t you know on roof install day Doug came by and dropped off a gift. He saw the insulated tent at his supply house and picked one up for me ? no charge. Carlson Brothers did a great job for me and I have nothing but high praise for Doug and his crew. They arrived on time, as promised and did the job in one day. No mess and better still, no surprises. My roof looks great and Doug is everything you could ask for in a contractor. On a scale of 1 to 10 Carlson brothers is a 12!

Minor leak afterwards but they came immediately after I called and finally found the problem. My house is 120 years old and not easy to do work on and believe I understand these situations, as long as they are willing to try and resolve the problems. I have lived and renovated most of this over the last 35 years.They were very willing to resolve the minor problem. Originally they gave me two prices, one for the liquid roofing and one for a tear off and replace. They suggested I try the first option and said if it didn't work they would credit me towards the more expensive option which I thought very honest of them and their pricing was very competitive.

Price was excellent compared to other contractors. They were professional, curteous and responsive. Initially there was one area of repair that I would like to have been done differently and upon calling back and expressing my concerns they returned and satisified me 100%. I would definately call them back and hire them for their services.

I am very happy with the results. They gave me a great price. I was not crazy about one spot and they came right back out to fix it, which was great. I would recommend them to anyone. They had the best estimate for the job, by far. they would be the first people I would call if I needed any other siding work done.
