Floors By ED

Our experience with Floors by Ed was nothing but horrible once they began work. He came out to give us a quote and discussed his plan for repairing and refinishing our hardwood floors, and then sent other people to do the work who did nothing even close to what he had told us he would do. There was a spot that needed repairing and instead of weaving the wood in as proposed, they made what looked like a trap door. They also used a different color of wood and didn’t bother to even attempt to stain it to match before applying several coats of varnish to everything. They made a mess with sawdust and let that get all over the wet varnish as well, so there were a bunch of raised discoloured spots. They said they would repair the top step for us, and just left it. They also slapped some waxy, goopy product on the floor in a 6 in swatch that didn’t take the varnish over it, so it’s left a big splotch in the midde of the hardwood floor. They took our house key away with them and left us locked out of our own house. They used my husband’s tools without asking (we realized because they left them out), and left our fuse box taken apart when they finished and left at the end of the week. Over days of constant disappointment and discussion with both the workers in the house and the owner, we were told everything would be fixed to be as had been promised in the quote. Every day, we were met with more disappointment and were just shocked at what they were doing to our floors. By the fourth day, when they were finished, we had the owner in to look at the disaster that had been taking place all week and he assured us that he would personally fix the discoloured planks, the sawdust trapped in the varnish, the step that hadn’t been repaired, the waxy mess…..he painted over the discoloured planks like a kindergartener would have, he used gloss varnish over where the sawdust problem had been when the rest of the floor was semi gloss, and left the waxy spot….. If we had hired an amateur who had never done this type of work before, I think they probably still would have done a better job following a youtube tutorial because they would have taken more care. This guys’s entire business is FLOORING. This guy also had the audacity to ask for more money while standing in the middle of the disaster, before he had even fixed it, as if the job was finished. Would NEVER recommend that anyone hire these guys. I had to hire someone else to fix what they had done – it set us way behind schedule and over budget and was an infuriating experience.
