Description of Work: Helene was invited over to our house to give my husband and I an exterior wood door painting estimate. She gave us a good and fair estimate which we accepted and we schedule a date for her to come back and do the job. She told me she'll provide the supplies and bring her best staining man to the job and to search her in Angie's list as she was listed. Having said that....First: They come in the morning at the scheduled time of 9am. Her partner comes in to do the job with a nasty headache. I offer coffee and Advil’s which he took. Then they only bring two drop cloth to cover one couch and one to cover the floor in front of the door. They did NOT cover the door way to the kitchen, dining room or living room. Her partner took on the interior and she took on the exterior job. I gave them the proper tools to remove the door's hardware (Antique) which they did not revome and damaged while sanding. They started to sand the wood door. OMG! There was wood DUST all over the house since they were using power sanders. Later on, her Partner saw my vacumcleaner in the dining room, took it, and started to clean all the dust without asking if he can use it for that purpose. Mind you if they had asked, we have a SHOPVAC they could have used for the job. Second: Her partner starts to stain the door with this Gel Stain....using a horrible application. So when I started to tell him the stain was being applied clumpy and needed to be smoothes out he took offense to my comments. Third: They both went out to lunch and came back hours later. I detected alcohol on her partner’s breath as he was talking to me about the staining process which I did not like. He continued to stain the door and told me that is the best I'm going to see it and he continued asking me if it was okay. So I told him it was still clumpy and his comment to me were "You getting what you pay for" and mind you! I didn’t do business with him. Our business was done Helene Winters. Fourth and foremost: Helene told me, she had a wedding to go to and had to leave about 2pm this was after lunch. So they left leaving the interior door un-finished and the supplies behind. The guy only stained the door panels leaving the molding unstained and the exterior with only a sand job. She then goes and apologizes for her partners behavior and tell me she'll be back the next day (Sunday) to finish the job. Well!!! She did come back promptly at 9am BUT to pick up her supplies and told me she'll be back to do the job herself. I then took the opportunity to voice my opinion of her SO CALL proffersional staining guy and discussed the damages to the hardware. She apologized again and told me she'll pay for the hardware but I told her it was okay since she told me she will not use that guy again. She then proceeds to tell me, she'll call me to schedule a time to come back and finish the job and that she agrees the Gel stain wasn't working. Through the week I didn't hear from her so I called her and text her and she NEVER responded. SHE LEFT THE JOB UNFINISHED! SHE NEVER LOOKED BACK!

Description of Work: Master bath walls primed and painted, powder room walls primed and painted, two-story foyer and living room painted, upstairs hall painted, 11 doors painted, paint and supplies purchased, scaffolding rented for high-ceiling living room and foyer work, and all debris removed. The home was left neat after each work day.

Description of Work: Helene arrived and did the estimate. She was attentive to details in her inspection. And patient and professional with our questions. My husband is an electrical engineer and can be 'very particular' about how work gets done. Helene took all this in stride. Her fee was reasonable and about $300. less than another estimate. We hired her to paint kitchen, foyer, 1st and 2nd floor hallways. 2nd floor hallway included skylight.

Description of Work: I did a complete remodel of a house in Red Bank, NJ and used Helene Winters as my painting contractor for the entire house - inside and out. This inside had about 35% of the sheetrock in the house replaced along with all of the doors and trim. All of the exterior siding was removed and replaced with HardiPlank and was painted.

Description of Work: Helene removed wallpaper from two large walls, spackled problem areas, primed, and painted the bedroom and all trim. She was very punctual, professional, pleasant, knowledgeable, and skilled. I am totally pleased with her work and would definitely hire her again and recommend her to my friends and family.

Description of Work: We had almost the entire house painted. The house was built in 1993 and has a vaulted ceiling in the living room an a two story entrance way. WE also had some wallpaper borders put up in the bedrooms. The master bedroom has a tray ceiling. It was a difficult job especially since the ceiling and walls were painted different colors.
