 + -1 moreThis is one scary guy! I have been interviewing numerous companies to to do work at my house and obviously had not yet had him come out to my house for an estimate. I have posted the texts below - this is how you correspond with someone that you want to do work for? I have contacted the company that recommended him in the first place. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I don't have your address, or email to even send a quote. No phone number, as this # is a relay number through Buildzoom. Email quotes for an immediate quote. If I am unable to beat my competitors, I will treat you and yours to a dinner on me. An email address? That's cool. A relay phone number? Lol. You're asking me right now to bid a job I haven't seen, have no address, no measurements, no chosen manufacturer. Shady like the drunks and druggies that have tried to bid already? We made it to the top 10% out of 88k companies in NJ. Not by being a wise *** @ 11pm. But for producing quality, at the best price period. Another deranged liberal. Hire some scammer, suits ya....

basement remodeling
 + -1 moreHe destroyed my house and took $17,000. The town caught him with no permits. Now my house is uninhabitable because of the structural damage from what he did. I was able to contact him, and he said he was only willing to refund $8,000 back, and if I take him to court I will only get $.50 on the dollar and that I wouldn't get paid for 2-3 years. I am seeking legal help now.

 + -1 moreI was given a contract which said he would show up on 8/11/14 and finish by 8/15/14. He would only show up after all other jobs were finished on either a weekend or after 4 pm. He then complained that he had not done the estimate correctly. If he is a real honorable businessman he should know how to cost a job. He never finished until November. Then the siding started to gap open and he refused to fix it. He then threatened to put a lien on my property if I did not pay him the final amount, even though there were obvious gaps where he put the siding. He also refused to accept credit cards even though his website says otherwise.
Description of Work: He tried to repair a leak by changing the flashing. Less than a year later it leaks. It appears that he used roof cement or silicone rather than removing all old roof cement and replacing the step flashing properly. The other part of the job was to remove part of the rear of the house where squirrels had eaten into the wall. He was to put siding there . It has gaps in it.

 + 1 moreSee above. Phone call made and got call back within a few minutes. Met with Tom from On Call at our house that same day and got written estimate on the spot. Can't argue with the deal--they didn't even require a deposit and no payment until the job was done and we were satisfied. I had already gotten 2 other estimates and On Call was the cheapest by far with the best payment terms. Tom explained process up front and along the way. He also handled all the permits. He said it would take 2 weeks, but the rain held up some of the work so it took a little longer but it was done with no fuss and given the rain, it was done about as quickly as I could imagine. The contract has a 2 year guarantee on workmanship which other contractors did not have. So far so good.
Description of Work: We added a small (full) bathroom, pantry and laundry area as a structural addition to the back of our 1950's ranch. (just couldn't live with the standard one bathroom anymore). On Call Home Services was very nice to deal with. They were referred by a friend who used them. Overall they did an excellent job--the workers were polite (and cleaned up after themselves which I appreciated). The addition looks great--blends in with the house perfectly. Most importantly, they began and finished the job when they said they would so I had it done before summer was in full swing so no disruption of BBQs, etc. I dealt with "Tom" at On Call and he was very helpful. He gave us advice on the excavation for the addition that ended up saving us a nice amount of money. Specifically, our addition did not require a full excavation, which is costly--instead we did only a crawlspace type excavation. It means that there is no basement under the addition, but that was okay with us and, frankly, it put the addition within our price range. He also helped with fixture selection to help keep costs down. The best thing Tom did, however, was recommend the pantry/laundry area--we initially wanted just the bath off the kitchen but for relatively little we changed our plan on his advice re convenience and home value and now are thrilled with the whole area. Didn't know I needed a pantry until I had one! It fits those Costco size cereal boxes, drink cases, etc. The whole construction process was pretty painless given the horror stories I've heard thru the years. Love having the second full bath!
