Last Friday our hot water heater stopped working, I called another service provider and they were able to get it up and running and said it would cost over $1600 to replace the unit. I knew it needed to be replaced, we bought the condo in foreclosure and it sat for a few years empty. I knew the quote was very high and decided to try and see if it would continue to run while I did some research. Of course, no luck and the system stopped working in 2 days--no hot water. My sister-in-law uses Alber Services. I gave Alber Service a call, Laurie in the office was professional and helpful she setup an time for Richard to come out that afternoon. He worked up a price and I called Laurie to schedule the installation. She was great and made some schedule changes and within 24 hours we had a beautiful and working hot water heater. I couldn't be there for the installation but my sister-in-law (the best) helped out, Laurie called her when the installers were on the way.

About a year and a half ago my A/C unit (located in my attic) started leaking through my ceiling. Alber sent out someone to fix the problem. They left saying it needed (and they gave) it freon. The leak/stain got bigger. The next guy claimed it was something else and fixed it. The leak/stain got bigger. The third guy who came (who seemed to actually know what he was doing). Pulled a giant chunk of ice out of the machine that was blocking it causing it to leak. He said the ice formed because it needed freon and was working overtime to keep up (causing ice). Ironically it still needed freon after the first guy "said" he put it in.Fast forward to last week. We got a free servicing from Alber and against my wishes my wife set up an appointment. The A/C had been working fine till the "tech" from Alber "serviced" our unit. It didn't work for 5 days after that. I just looked up and my first floor ceiling is now leaking/stained. It took them a year to give us the money to fix my second story ceiling and I'm sure they will unwillingly look to pay for the damages. I WOULD NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER recommend them. And I can't wait to dump them after the problem is fixed.

As I stated above, we couldn't be happier with the results! We have since referred 4 friends who have all gotten their work done and are just as happy. I am thrilled with how much cooler my house is even with setting the thermostat higher than we used to. We had our township inspections and everything passed. It is amazing to me that this program is out there and nobody knows about it. Thanks goodness we got Alber's name from a friend!!

Since the installation, I watched my heating and air conditioning bills very closely and they have, in fact gone down in general 30% since last season, even with this extremely hot summer. The capacitor outside did blow out at one point, but they were able to come back and fix it within a day of the blow-out. They have also come back for routine maintenance and throughout the original project, they were very accommodating to my husband's, and my requests. I will certainly continue to use them.

The job went fine. Their price is competitive.

They were professional and they were good. We will consider them again.

I like their customer service, they come on time and as scheduled and get the job done right.

First I did not contact Albers knowing that they performed energy audits. I had contacted them regarding re-insulation of my 2 attic spaces. When I called to set up an appointment, they told me that they offer the Audit service for free and that the State of New Jersey offers rebates and financing to take on large or small scale energy projects in your home with no up front out-of-pocket. I thought it sounded too good to be true and was skeptical as my current HVAC provider had never mentioned such a program and was continually servicing my home knowing that my equipment was close to end-of-life. Nevertheless, I wanted to learn more about this 100 year old home I was living in and whether or not there were any savings to be had. Bill came out, very professional, punctual and with a wealth of experience and knowledge, I learned a whole lot about my home just from walking around with him and this was before he started the auditing. The audit took, maybe 2 hours, I forget. He looks at all your major equipment, the envelope of your home, the attic, the basement, crawl space everything - it's like he can see through walls and he also knows a lot about home construction as he needs to as a mechanical engineer. After the audit, Albers needs about a week to make the calculations that the State of New Jersey needs and he comes back to your home with a full report. I thought the report would say that the windows and doors all need replacing, but the program doesn't cover windows and doors as there is no real return on investment within 10 years. What Bill showed me was that I could replace my furnace and AC, re-insulate my attic, rework the ductwork for upstairs and family room, set up another zone upstairs, seal the envelope of the home and the basement (which wasn't sealed due to termite issues years before we took ownership), put in new vapor barrier in the crawl space, vent the bathrooms and more for $18K. Sounds like a lot, right!? BUT, the State of New Jersey offers you $10K at 0% financing and provides Albers a $5K rebate. My out of pocket is $3K to do all that work, and I don't have to do all of it. I could say, I don't want to be out of pocket at all and not spend the extra $3K which might mean I go without the additional zone, which makes sense as we are going to redo our 2nd floor bathroom next year, so we can wait on spending that $3k until next year and think of it as part of the cost of a bathroom project . My estimated energy savings per month is $115. So even if I would pay $83/month to finance the $10K, I am still in the black, saving $32/month even if I have spent $15K. Seems like a no-brainer to me. And all I wanted was the insulation re-done. I had a quote on insulation from my current HVAC serving company, (apparently they too can provide me with the same service including the rebates and financing that Albers offered, but chose not to) and their price was $4800 for only re-insulation of my attic space. Another HVAC company provided me a quote for $6000, again just for re-insulation. No rebates, no financing from the State, all out-of-pocket cash required. Albers looks at your whole house. Makes total and complete sense.

They were the most knowledgeable and they were very thorough. They knew exactly what they were doing from the beginning. When they came to do the job they recognized and asbestos problem that no one else could find.

The experience with them was excellent. Their price wasn’t the cheapest and wasn’t the most expensive either. Their quality was excellent. They were very good.

It went great overall. We really liked Ed who supervised the work and the individuals workers. They were careful in their work and we are very happy with the result.

I thought they were responsive and professional. They answered my questions. They originally proposed one thing, but had some flexibility with what we wanted. The workers were very professional and prompt. They cleaned up, communicated with me, and answered my questions. They are a good professional company. They responded to my questions. They were competitive in price, although they weren't the lowest. They took time to address my questions. It was a substantial amount of money to spend, so I wanted to make sure what was going on. They worked with me on sorting the problems out that we had with our previous air conditioner.

The workers were extremely polite and clean. I found the office personnel easy to work with and very responsive to our questions concerning installation in a house that was never before air-conditioned. We got two quotes for the work and this company was much less expensive, and their bid covered more things (like removal of the oil tank) than the other bid. The work was well done and they sought our input and provided advice at every step - especially concerning where the returns and the units could/should be located. All the ducts are labeled and we were given detailed information about the system specs. Most importantly, the system works great!Although the third floor finished attic still requires a window unit, the main two floors of the house are cool and comfortable, and the unit is very quiet.
