Called Sunday July 14 when A/C went out during heat wave. Rec'd a call back and agreed for someone to come out the next day. Was also advised at the time to call the office next morning to confirm. Called Monday the 15th at 8am and told receptionist that I really needed someone due to my wife going into Chemo. Receptionist told me we're all in the same boat and that service person would call 20 minutes before coming, no appointments. To day is July 24th. NO ONE EVER CALLED. Thanks for nothing. Got somebody good right away, I knew not to wait around. Just wanted people to know. By the way was forced to give them one star to submit review. Didn't deserve that.

We had Dave and Scott install central air years ago in our 100+ year old house and when we bought a new condo that needed a new HVAC system, there was no one else we considered. They diagnosed and designed a solution for a complicated project, came in on time and one budget and have been great to deal with.

They installed our system about 15 years ago. They notify us each year to have the annual tune up. We make an appointment & they come and give it a thorough exam. We are delighted with their work ethic.

He was punctual and he fixed the pump and the price was reasonable.

The job took a little less than 2 days. The W&I team were exceptional. Polite. Neat. Punctual. Competent. Upon completion, they took me through the entire system and explained everything. Three town inspectors came to approve their work for permits, and all commented that they did a superb job.

They were prompt, professional & reasonable.

I was very pleased with all aspects of the job. The price was fair to very good, it definitely was not over the top of a price. The person in charge there made 3 visits to detail the job that was going to be done. These were free estimates. They came up with a plan and did exactly what they said they would do in the time they said. The work was done very well. I can tell a huge difference after the work had been completed.

I requested a quote to have my central air conditioner replaced. After waiting five hours for the estimate person to set up an appointment, I was told they were not taking new customers!!! What was the point in taking my information if they weren't willing to work with me in the first place?

Whalen and Ives answered our call for service promptly, (the woman in the office was super nice) and 2 guys showed up. They arrived on time, and were extremely professional. The sensors needed cleaning, in turn, which was causing the heat to shut off. They showed us how to rectify this ourselves, in the future. We would not hesitate to use them again! Overall, very satisfied with their service and professionalism!

They explained what they did well. They have good communication.

The pricing was in the ballpark. It's also the company that sold our heating and air conditioning system and we had a problem once before with the air conditioning and they came right away and fixed it with no problem. They were very responsive and came very quickly. They seem to know what they were doing and did everything we asked them to do. The only thing is that I had to wait several weeks for the heating maintenance but I think that was just the timing, everybody was having it done at the same time. They made an appointment and stuck to the date.

I own a commercial space. No heat in office. Had one of the providers listed on Angie's List come out and provide an evaluation. Was told more expensive to repair than to replace. Cost $7,100.00 for a 1100 s/f commercial space. That's a hefty price. Need to receive further estimates. I called Whalen & Ives - explained the problem. Received a call back and was told if I wanted an estimate for a new unit they could provide that for me, but if I wanted a repair I would have to pay for the service call. My response - how do I know if it can be repaired or if it needs to be replaced? I told them the other tech's opinion. It did not make a difference to the company. I do not believe this is proper customer service. An evaluation is necessary. Ron-Jon immediately sent a technician to my property to evaluate the situation. The tech took photos; gave me a detailed report verbally - twice - plus I called him back a third time and he patiently described what was found. Everything will be reported to me in writing. The same is true with Air Group. They are sending a tech to evaluate immediately at no charge. I hope this is helpful.

He was very polite and honest - the unit they use would not fit on my furnace because they would need to mount it in a spot that would be difficult to service. I respect his honesty and would call them again for other HVAC services.

I rarely use superlatives to describe anything, especially contractors, but in this case I will make an exception. Dave Whalen and ALL of his crew are superb on every conceivable method of measurment. Superior customer service - check! Professionalism - check! Informative - check! Quality of work - superior! Integrity - unmatched! Follow-up - stellar! Promptness - super! Attention to Detail - unmatched! Quality of employees - the best! I want to thank EVERYONE from Dave to Christina, the electrical contractors, installers and the Whalen and Ives staff for THE most pleasant contractor experience I have ever had. Dave if you read this please feel free to use us as reference if you ever need one.. To give you an example of they type of service you get with Whalen and Ives, Dave Whalen is hands on and takes real pride in the work his company does. You can tell not just from his healthy "obsession" to detail but in his actions. A few days after the finished install we had a minor issue with the kitchen lights. The issue started occuring on a Friday around dinner time. We called Dave and within 2 hours he (yes he the owner) was at our home fixing the problem. As far as I'm concerned that's all anyone needs to know about the dedication and professionalism of Whalen and Ives.

We met with Tom R. from Whalen and Ives (W&I) on several occasions to review and discuss our homes A/C requirements. He was always punctual and answered all of our questions. He provided us with several options including a hybrid system. We decided to only install part 1 of the hybrid system which included (1) ductless unit our first floor (part 2 will be implemented at a later date). The installation of the Mitsubishi unit went pretty well. There was one issue with the placement of the outside lines but the technician discussed it with my wife and it was the only option. Everything else went smooth. We used an electrician Tom recommended and they were prompt and completed the job in conjunction with W&I. We're now waiting for the town inspection and hopefully all will go well. We received other quotes from A/C providers and they were all in the general ball park. We decided to go with Whalen & Ives based on referrals from others and their reputation on Angie's List. We're very happy with the Mitsubishi unit (output and quiet) & the installation. We will continue to use Whalen & Ives for our future HVAC needs.

I called and within 2 hours someone came out to repair our central air unit. I was surprised by how quickly they came due to this extreme heat! Benny was very professional and gave us great advice for the future since we are new to our home.

They came when we expected them, they were professional, neat and clean.

They were busy and took a couple of weeks to get a technician to do the maintenance but they showed up on time and very very professional.

A very professional, prompt and friendly crew arrived to perform a very thorough inspection for both the exterior and interior units. We found that everything that has been written up about Whalen & Ives, Inc., with respect to customer exceptional reviews, turned out to be absolutely true. We regret that we have not used their services in the past.

First they installed a brand new heating and air conditioning system. Then they meticulously maintained it (along with an existing older one) for 15 years.

They were punctual and did a good job. We liked the job that they did when they put in a new hvac system for our son and used Scott to check out our ac unit in the townhouse that we are purchasing/

Heard noise, called Whalen & Ives, meachanic came same afrernoon. Made minor repair, which was far less costly than replacing a part that mechanic expalned was an option. I have used Whalen & Ives for 16 years, service has always been prompt, professioanl, and fair

The whole process went great. My wife and I decided a few months before installation to look into getting a generator. We have been experiencing power outages during storms and we finally decided to purchase a generator. The process of choosing a generator was made easy with the help of Whalen & Ives. They sat down with my wife and I to understand what our needs were and based upon those needs a generator model was chosen. I have to explain that before last year we knew little of Whalen & Ives. After our neighbors recommended them, we decided to use their services to upgrade our a/c system and had a great experience. After the a/c installation we found out they also install generators. So we decided to stay with them. What a great move that was. Not only was the installation done well with little bother to us but they even worked late and on the weekend before Sandy hit to complete the job. We will forever be grateful to them. As it turned out Sandy did hit New Jersey and we would have been without power for 6 days if this generator was not installed. Thanks to Whalen & Ives hard work we did have power. We also want it noted that Whalen & Ives also services the generators they install. We learned that this is very important when deciding on a generator. My wife and I know very little about engines and could not properly take care of the unit. We have a maintenance contract with Whalen & Ives where they take care of the unit for us. A technician comes out and services the unit on a regular basis. If you're in the market for a generator WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND WHALEN & IVES.

They are very reliable, punctual and complete quality work. They are a little high end on pricing but it's worth it. They also don't try to upsell. I recommend them to others.
