Description of Work: Company and workers were extremely professional. Design consultants were knowledgeable and made some helpful suggestions, but never pressured us to make decisions. New floor was installed as promised and workmen were able to effectively deal with a few unforeseen problems. Follow-up calls were made to make sure we were happy with the job. We were definitely happy.

Description of Work: We were expecting Floortown workers to arrive at 8am on the 21st of June to sand and stain 2 rooms of our home. (We previously made hotel reservations for 2 nights in order to accommodate the workers sanding and staining.) We waited until 11am and finally received a call from a Floortown representative that there was an equiptment problem and they wouldn't be coming until the following day. We cancelled our hotel reservation for that night and made another reservation. The following morning at 7am, 2 workers arrived from Floortown, but it was much too early, so we asked them to wait until at least 8am. They came in to our home at 8am with no representative and no knowledge of the extra things that we wanted done that we had discussed with the Floortown representative. They began sanding the floors with the wonderful dustless sander and the manager of Floortown arrived to explain that the representative was not working there anymore and he would be at our service if there were any questions. We left the workers in the afternoon to do their job and checked into our hotel. The workers said they would return at 6pm to put the first coat of stain on the floor. We returned to open the door for them....and waited and waited. We called several times and got answers saying thery were on their way, but we were still kept waiting. They finally arrived about 8:45pm and we refused to allow them to work and sent them home. We left for our hotel. The next day, we told the workers to call us when they arrived at our home so we wouldn't be kept waiting. At noon we were called and opened up the house for them to continue their work. They worked very hard, long hours and very professionally, only taking one lunch break before putting on another layer of stain.We were later told that the problem with the timing was that they were working THREE jobs at the same time as ours and there was distance between the homes and just so many hours in a day. I have to fault the company on over extending their time and jobs. The waiting around was extremely aggrevating to me. The bottom line is the floors look beautiful and we are very pleased. There was some dust that accumulated on the baseboards and some wood curls left behind, but mostly everything was cleaned up.

 + -1 moreWe needed the flooring installed within a week and a half period and they were able to install it 9 days from when I visited the store. I was extremely happy for that. The installation crew arrived on time and were very friendly and did a great job. However, during the installation I learned that the person that came out the previous week to measure forgot to measure the pantry and also did not order enough to finish the kitchen. So, they had to order more flooring to finish the job which was not done until 2 weeks later. Also, I had to call them to find out when the materials would be in and when the job would be finished. They said someone did try to contact me but there were no messages on my cell or my home phone. In the end, the floor does look great...the installation guys get a thumbs up and the store sales team gets a thumbs down.

 + -1 moreInstallation was great, and the floor itself is fabulous, my problem is with the sales experience I had with Floortown itself. I feel cheated. When we went to the store in Paramus to pick out flooring, I was told that the price listed on the flooring display was the INSTALLED cost per sq foot of material. A week later when we actually ordered the flooring, I noticed when I got home an additional charge of about $900 for installation in addition to the displayed cost per square foot of material. Say what?!?! I thought the price listed in the store was the INSTALLED cost , not just the material cost. Needless to say, I ended up paying the whole thing without complaining because I just didn't want the hassle. I had already paid half of it as a deposit. Regardless of what they said below, at the time I was first looking at the material for the floor, I saw that the ticket on it clearly specified it was the installed price and I specifically asked the question to the salesman if that price was the installed price and he sad yes. I'm about to do another floor in April (2011) and I'll giving them another shot at it because the installers are just great, but this time I'll be paying extremely close attention to what they tell me at the showroom, what is listed on the sample, and writing it down. I don't want any surprises this time.

 + 0 moreWe moved into a home where the first floor hardwood floors were in bad shape with lots of old pet stains. Floortown sanded down the floors (approx. 450 sq ft), stained them to match the steps and the upstairs floors, and finished them with water-based semi-gloss finish. Looks absolutely beautiful! Though the stains were too deep to come out completely, they are hardly noticeable anymore. It's like night and day from how it looked before. They did a clean job, almost no dust, and just a few touch-ups needed on baseboards where some stain could be seen. The guys that did the work were very nice, they were about 45 minutes late the second day, but overall a great job! We were very satisfied.

 + -1 moreKitchen and entrance hallway done in one day. Beautiful job. Slow start on the carpeting job due to snowstorm. Carpeting took 3 days because of weather. But also delighted with results. The floor cleaner promised to me was not sent originally with the workers, but 1 week later was sent and left at my door. Quite pleased overall.

Floortown did not take advantage of me when we discovered the surprise linoleum tile under the carpeting, but simply charged me a reasonable amount per sq ft to scrape off the tile. In addition, I was concerned with 3 areas on the finished floor where the stain appeared to be uneven. The contractor returned to the apartment, sanded down and re-stained the 2-3 sq ft of problem areas to achieve a perfect final product. I have worked with other service providers in the past who seem to drop off the face of the earth after they leave the job site, but Floortown was very concerned with my happiness with the floors and responded instantly to my concerns after the work was done. They were back to address my concerns within the week, and I am very pleased. I highly recommend Floortown to anyone in the NYC-NJ area looking for wood floors or carpeting.
Description of Work: Floortown removed the carpeting throughout our entire two-bedroom apartment. Upon discovering that linoleum tiles had been laid on top of the wood floor in two rooms, the contract was changed mid-way through to include removal of the tile as well and replacement of the wood where needed, following by sanding, staining and sealing of the resulting original wood floor throughout the apartment.
