It went well. The crew showed up, did the work and cleaned up afterwards. I would have them back in the future.

Poor communication on several levels due to busy time following storm with lots of tree work.

I have had various different tree guys come through. It is dangerous hard work and when taking down hundred foot tall trees there is bound to be collateral damage. I liked how they were able to get the proper equipment into our yard that allowed a man in a bucket to get high on the tree. The equipment hardly left a mark in the grass even though the ground was wet. They wound up destroying 2 smaller healthy trees which they also had to take down once they were badly damaged. The estimator blew the fact that he would need the extra equipment even though I pointed out the difficulty of getting access to my yard, The estimator also didn't notice that the one tree was rotted out hollow and could not be climbed safely. This resulted in a second crew coming out with the special equipment . There was no attempt to charge me for the extra crew and equipment. I still gave an A due to the difficulty of the work.

I scheduled a date and time for Friendly Tree Service to look at the tree and provide an estimate. They have limited hours so I needed to leave work early to make the scheduled appointment. However, no one ever showed up and when I reached out to inquire about the missed appointment, no one ever responded or contacted me.

They were initially very responsive and scheduled an appointment the same day - nobody showed up, nobody let me know they would not come. They came back next business day with apologies and scheduled another same day appointment - nobody showed up, no contact again. Couple days later I emailed them again and again they apologized and at that time gave me a date almost two weeks ahead and again - nobody came, no contact.

John and his staff were here quickly, after a major storm took down numerous trees in my yard. They showed up asap to remove the tree blocking the driveway and then returned the following week to remove the balance. I couldn't be happier.

They did the work that was promised. It all went well except they put a hole in the beginning of my driveway by driving a heavy truck over it. They did repair it but only with an asphalt patch.

Excellent as always! This is third time using them.

I had a tree removed back in 2015 and failed to write a review (shame on me). I am about to submit a request for more trees to be removed so I decided to write a review because this company really know what they are doing and provides top notch service. On to the review... I wasn't home when the work was performed but my neighbors were highly impressed by the professionalism and swift removal of the tree. The tree had to be over 100 years old, full of pine needles (so messy), and hovered about double the size of my house. The Friendly Tree Service, I believed zapped that tree right out of the ground because when I arrived home, there wasn't any sign that a tree once stood there that morning. No mess, no branches, no saw dust....amazing! So I've returned for another go round.

They came immediately and accessed the situation of the fallen oak, and removed the big pieces from the top of the garage. They came again the next day and took everything else away, and left the yard perfectly clean. Both times. The owner knows a lot about trees, and very patiently answers questions. They’re wonderful!

Both times they were fantastic. The first time was great because everyone needed service at the same time after a storm. They were responsive and reasonably priced. The second time was just to prune one tree and they were equally responsive. They have also done work for two of my neighbors who said they were happy with them.

This is the second time I've used Friendly Tree Service in the past five years. The snow storm we had in early March wasn't too kind to one of the trees on my property. Several large limbs had fallen down off of a large oak tree. Several other large limbs from the same tree were either hanging precariously over the house or had broken off and were being held up by other limbs. It looked like a bomb had gone off in my front yard. Jimmy was able to come out three days after the storm to provide an estimate to both myself and my neighbor. I was extremely happy with the price quoted given the amount of work that needed to be done especially after hearing from friends how other companies were trying to gouge them. We recently had the work completed and my wife and I couldn't be happier. The crew carefully removed all the dead wood from the tree and got rid of all the fallen limbs. Not only did they clean the area of the yard they were working, they cleaned the roof over our garage which had taken a little bit of a beating during the storm. My yard looks as if nothing had ever happened. I can't recommend Friendly Tree Service enough. They do great work at a very fair price.

I calledFriendly Tree as I had used them in the past. I did get them fromAngie's List. John came the next day and removed the trees from my office building driveway. Great job and good price. they could have charged more based on the storm. That is not how they operate. Never did they try and take advantage.

Hurricane Sandy crashed a neighbors maple tree into my garage and two massive oak trees in my yard. The oaks were uprooted and leaning a foot from my home. Friendly tree came in like a surgical team. John the owner, designed an order of operations that if executed perfectly would hopefully save my house. His team did a great job and the house was saved. John also convinced the insurance company that this was something they’d have to cover when they claimed I wasn’t covered for it. Friendly tree made me feel like I was their only job at the time, and that was in the middle of clearing thousands of trees from all over New Jersey. I was reminded of how great they were last night as a Nor’easter knocked out power and leveled trees all around me. This is a better than late shout out to a company and crew I’ll never forget. Excellent. I have used Friendly Trees a number of times over many years. Have always been more than satisfied with the service.

John Lang was a wonderful help to me. He was so knowledgeable and helpful and suggested current and upcoming tree trimming/pruning in his estimate. He gave me an initial estimate for the 4 trees with detailed information and recommendations concerning immediate or future pruning. I had a few questions about adding cable support to a tri trunk tree which he guided me through again offering a variety of options including the most cost effective. We decided to do everything John recommended. Julio, Noel and the brother whose name I have forgotten (I am so sorry!) came out the day after I returned the contract and did an excellent job with the trees. I was working and asked Julio to please call me when the work was finished which he did. I am so grateful to John, Julio, Noel and the brother for helping keep my family safe. 21We have had 2 storms with high wind since they did their excellent work.

Outstanding job. John and his team came within three hours and took down the tree. We've used Friendly Tree for many years and strongly recommend them.

Excellent work in every respect. I have used this company many times and would never hire anyone else. They are certified arborists, which means they understand trees and what is needed to maintain them.

FANTASTIC! All of the debris from the backyard had to go through the house. The three guys were very careful in moving the branches through the house. They cleaned up after they were finished too. Thanks

The warhorse they choose to battle the tree was a magical cherry picker that could fit into tight places, and once in place could extend all they way to the upper reaches of the monster tree. Yes, Friendly was good about trying to save my wife's hydrangeas which would have been trampled on by one of their wood chippers that was part of their battle plan. The dug out the hydrangeas and ultimately transplanted them back. I've attached a picture so you can get a sense of their victory over the beast. It took them 2 1/2 days to cut the tree down--- an enormous undertaking with little disruption except for the power outage. Friend Tree workers are heroes in my book, and I watched as they wielded enormous chain saws to slice into the tree, and then use pulleys to guide the stumps to the ground. I have no hesitation in recommending Friendly Tree to take on whatever tree challenge you can come up with.

They cut more off than I would have liked. For example, they were supposed to cut a dead portion of a branch to the point where there was growth (branches with leaves). Instead, they removed the whole branch to the trunk, including the living growth that was to remain. Also they were supposed to call an hour or so before they came. Instead, they called when they had already arrived, and had already started to do the work before I arrived home from work. The problem is a lack of communication - John comes and writes down what needs to be done, but others perform the work and ignore a lot of the written instructions. I have used them in the past and was always satisfied with how they did the work. This last time I was not satisfied with the end result. I might or might not use them again.
