FRIENDLY TREE SERVICE

This was the second time we've used Friendly Tree Svc. We met John Lang the first time 9 years ago in our first home. At that time we were impressed with how knowledgable John is about trees and how quickly the crew completed a large job of removing three large trees too close to our house plus several over-grown bushes. All stumps were ground down. In August, John was able to provide us with a detailed estimate on the spot and had some very good ideas about creating an open outdoor space in our tree dense backyard (he even remembered us and the last project!). The estimate was below other estimates I had recieved. Because of the size and cost of the project, John suggested we could break the job into two parts and choose "a la carte" which items we wanted done first and he advised us which trees should be removed first because of decay. On the day of the work, the crew arrived on time. There was some delay with the crane, but the crew had a lot of work to complete and kept working until every detail of the job was done. Bottom line; they're very knowledgable, reliable, and less expensive than other companies I received quotes from...we'll definitely hire them again!

The owner John visits the property and contacts you to advise how much the job will cost. You agree or disagree and he tells you when the crew will arrive and do the work. I have used Friendly's services twice. The first time was in March to remove large branches from my neighbors yard in the rear of my home that were over my property line. The crew did a very good job and I was pleased with the results. The cost was $450.00. They also removed deadwood from the cherry tree in the rear yard and reduced the crown to shape and removed all debris. The cherry tree trim was $275.00. The second time I contracted Friendly in July 2013, I thought they over charged me for the work they preformed. To do a clean up of five bushes that were over grown and cut back tree branches that were over my neighbor next door's garage. Remove all debris. The crew arrived on time and they go straight to work. The fee was $480.00 which I thought was on the high side. When I asked if they could remove the ivy that was growing up on my garage and my neighbors garage the worker told me this wasn't in the paperwork and he'd have to check with John to see what the additional charges would be. He checked and advised that the cost would be substantial and suggested I take care of the ivy myself. So they just do what's on the paperwork and nothing extra. There did not appear to be any negotiation with the crew without the express authorization from the owner. I was not pleased with the second job as much as I was the first visit in March. I felt they could have done a better job to shape the brushes. The tree branch removal from my next door neighbors garage was a good job, But I was not pleased with the brushes at all. But, they'll grow back. And I have someone else to keep them under control from now on.

I met with John Lang and recieved a lot of great information about the trees on our property. We had worked with John 9 years prior on a tree project at our last home and he remembered us. John is professional and very knowledgable about trees and plants and has great ideas to beautify a yard. He was able to provide us a quote on site and the total price for the entire project was $3,000.00 less than other tree services quoted. John suggested we could split the work into two phases because of the size of the project and cost. We agreed and he and his crew completed the work on time and efficiently. His crew was professional and did a good job.

I was very pleased with the service. When I originally made the appointment, I was told they'd be at the house some time after 10am. They actually showed up around 8:30 and got right to work. In less than 3 hours, they had everything done and cleaned up. They took great care with the limbs hanging over the house. They tied off all limbs close to the house with a rope and guided them away from the house and owered them to the ground. The property was actually more clean after they left than it was before they showed up! The estimate they gave me was the highest of the 4 estimates I had gotten before the project began. The reason I went with this company is for several reasons. First, they had gotten many positive reviews on Angie's List. Second, the man who came out to give me the estimate was incredibly professional. He really seemed like he knew what he was talking about. Third, and most importantly (for me), this company (at least as of the date I had the work done) is fully insured. They had ample general liability and workman's comp insurance. Accidents can and do happen. Property damage can and does happen. I didn't want any problems just in case something went wrong. The extra money was (for me) worth the peace of mind.

I was impressed with the responsiveness, quote on visit which was competitive and then how quickly we could get in. The two trees were big and took most of the day. There were a few divets in the yard afterward to be expected but overall we were pleased with the overall service and would recommend this company

We went with Friendly even though they were a whopping $1,000 more than the competition, because they convinced me they would do a professional job and trim our trees sensitively rather than butchering them power-company-style. They did a great job. They removed a great many branches from around our property line but you have to look to tell, because they left the trees looking natural. The Ash trimming over our deck was extensive but even though it has removed several large overhanging branches and thinned the tree out, it still looks natural. The tough one was our dead leaner, which was close between 3 other healthy trees that we wanted to keep, in the back of our yard where they couldn't get a crane or cherry picker. It was climbed and roped. They trimmed the top, then the bottom (!) and I watched anxiously as they manipulated the ?50 foot trunk over about 30 minutes, using ropes, until it was laid to rest gently between my shrubs. I had planting all around the dead tree and it was all undamaged! The 3-man crew were nice, polite and professional. The really worked hard. for the 8 hours they were here. They cleared up. They were great.

I was about to purchase a home but had some concerns about the condition of a large copper beech in the backyard. Friendly Tree Service was recommended to me by my real estate agent. John came out the day after I called to check the condition of the tree and to provide an estimate to trim the tree. He provided the estimate on the spot using a handy mobile printer, and also answered a bunch of questions about other trees on the property. After the house was purchased, I scheduled them to perform the work and they were able to come out within a few days. They arrived early the day of the appointment and worked continuously on a brutally hot day until they were finished. I would not hesitate to recommend them and will be using them to maintain our trees in the future.

Jon, who gave us the estimate, was punctual and professional, and gave us some good advice about how to deal with various problems with large trees on our property. We got five estimates for the same job. His price was neither the highest nor the lowest--about $800 higher than the lowest bid, but significantly below the highest bid. I figured that on a job like this taking down fairly large trees, it was worth it to pay extra to make sure I got an experienced crew who knew what they were doing. The Friendly Tree crew was courteous and professional. On the day of the job, the crew arrived on time, and despite the heat, worked hard and the job done quickly and in less time than expected. They were careful to protect our house and other property while they did the work. They did a very nice job of cleaning up, and removing not just the limbs/trees they removed, but other accumulated brush on our property as well. Overall a very positive experience all around.

The crew arrived at the appointed time with (3) trucks and started work immediately. One of the trucks was a bucket with the tallest ladder I had seen. My tree was at least 3 stories high. It took several hours for all the work to be completed. I was very satisfied with their professionalism I would used them again

Went with another company that was 500.00 less

I was quite pleased with them. They were punctual, provided service as quoted, reliable, knowledgeable and they stood by their estimate, no hidden charges. We had a drunk driver cut through our lawn the night before and when I called them the next morning they were able to adjust the estimate and take care of that work. I would recommend them to anyone. I was happy with them.

They were great. I called them and they came for an estimate within I think two hours. She asked me if I was home at that time and she said they would be here in about an hour so that was great. They came as promised. The guy was really nice. He gave me a great estimate. I didn't book it as the job at the time but then I went ahead and I called them about an hour later and I booked the job. They said they could do it Monday, which was fantastic because I needed it done quickly. They did it and they said they would be here before 12:30, that they had another job to do but they wound up showing up at 8:00 in the morning, which was great. I was very surprised. I'm really glad I was home, that they came really early and everyone was really nice. I really enjoyed dealing with all their employees. They came and they cut the trees done. They were done so quickly and they told me that they weren't the people that were going to grind the stump. They said that another person would come later in the day and he was going to grind the stump then I would pay him for the job. About 1 o'clock, he showed up. He came over and did the stumps really quickly. He didn't have the ability to take the credit card but he said "it's no problem, I'll just call the office." He read my card over the phone and it was done. They were great. They cleaned up beautifully. They paid a lot of attention to detail. They made sure they cleaned everything up. It was really great. I was so pleased and I said if I have any tree work again that I would definitely call them again. They were great.

The firm's work schedule was not compatible with the time frame in which I wanted the work performed. I'd definitely invite them to bid on another job

First of all I was very impressed with the young man in charge of the job...just the fact that he was very young and very professional. He made sure to speak to me to make sure he knew how I wanted each of my 3 trees cut and he also made recommendations with explanations. Great job!

We called three tree companies from the list. We were pleased with all but felt Friendly Tree Service was right for us. . John came on time to give us an estimate. They were more expensive but we thought he was doing more. We had three trees to do. The men showed up on time the day we agreed. They gave us an estimated time they would be finished. They were in that time slot. Everything was picked up. We checked it out and were pleased. We would call them again.

Their price was reasonable. Our experience with them was excellent. They were professional and showed up on time. The gentleman who came to the house to give the estimate was very polite and just very easy and nice to talk with and deal with. He gave us everything he promised.

Called three other tree services who didn't bother to call back then had the great idea to check Angie's List for reviews on Tree Services. Glad I did. Responded quickly and came over the same day for an estimate. Price was ok but made even better with their Angie's List coupon for 5% off. They came when they said they would and were very professional. Took it all away and didn't leave any mess for me to worry about. Angie's List comes through again.

I called to schedule estimate and John showed up on schedule to determine estimate. I believe price was fair and he did a good job at explaining the quote and alternatives. Went with a different provider due to availability when service needed and slight edge in price, but will likely use Friendly Tree for tree pruning in the future.

While Trusty Tree was the first of 4 companies to arrive at our house and was very friendly and professional during a crisis time, their quote was 4 times as high as another highly rated provider we ended up using and the highest of the 4 vendors we got bids from. I'd be happy to have them bid on something in the future, but just make sure you get multiple bids and don't let them charge a huge premium for being at the top of the ratings.

They said they would show up in a day or two. Well, they never showed up or called again. I called another company who did come.

Overall they did good services and they were quick.
