FRIENDLY TREE SERVICE

This is the second time I've used Friendly Tree and they did a great job. They came out and gave me a written estimate. Price was comparable to other companies. Estimate right on - no surprises. Very good front office - easy to get an appointment for an estimate and for the work. Friendly Tree removed numerous branches and growth along the side of my property from about five trees. Many limbs were very large and hanging over my roof. The crew was on-time, professional and very hard-working. They worked for about 6 hours. It was a tremendous amount of work. They needed to use the bucket truck for safety purposes (driving it onto my lawn) and asked my permission to do so. They took care of adding soil and seed to the lawn as the ground was soft - no added charge. All debris was removed and everything cleaned up well. Very good experience.

Friendly is a good name for this business. I contacted them through Angie's list due to favorable reviews. They were quick to respond to my inquiry and had an estimate in a day. I had several estimates and theirs was the best. Work done promptly. They did a good job and cleaned up after themselves. I had a particularly hard tree to remove. It took a few of their guys to come up with a plan but they got it done. Throughout the entire process they were all nice to deal with. The office staff was accommodating when I asked for revisions on the certification of insurance (which specifically listed my property and my neighbors. The workers spoke english and were effective communicators, keeping me in the loop as the project unfolded. I will definitely use them again.

They were punctual and responsive. I only regret not insisting they cut off additional branches which I now think are too long and close to the house but I should have said something on time. Overall I'm very happy.

I requested trim 2 trees in front yard. They came here on time and did the job only 1 tree. I came home and realized they did not perform another tree. I called Friendly Tree service, and they responded right away. It might be a communication error between office and labor workers. They came the next day and perform the work perfectly. The branch of the tree was reached electric wire was completely removed. Thank you!

This was a fair amount of clean up work for the price. Friendly Tree Service arrives promptly, reconfirms the work to be done, and removes all debris.

John was very responsive and showed up on time for the initial meet. He was EXTREMELY knowledgeable about all of my trees. He gave me options on price and how much they would cut. I needed one tree that was dying removed and one tree pruned. They came on on the day promised and had the job done in about half a day. They took their time and were mindful of collecting the debris from the tree that fell in the neighbors yard. Unfortunately they left tire tracks through my newly seeded lawn when they drove through the yard to get to the tree but I understand it was the only way to get back to that tree because it was hanging into the neighbors yard. I would use them again.

Company was easy to work with and responsive to my requests. They were delayed due to storms and emergency calls and called me to let me know that they would not be able to make it at the originally scheduled time.

Hakim was fantastic. He even cut the tree remains into firewood! He adjusted the price to better reflect the work and saved us money. These guys are the best. I would rehire them and recommend them highly.

From start to finish, the service provided was excellent. I called for an estimate and John came out the next day. He was very helpful in every way. He knows so much about trees! He was able to guide us as to how much was needed to be cut, what should be removed and what shouldn't. He also gave my sister an estimate for work on her property, which abuts mine. We both decided to use Friendly because John was so helpful and well informed. I called on Tuesday to schedule and they came out on Friday. They would have come on Thursday but I had other plans that day. The crew arrived promptly at 8:30 (a little early actually, but that is good). What an outstanding crew. They did such an excellent job of everything. They really removed quite a bit, but it doesn't look bare, it looks wonderful. The also cleaned up all the debris. Between my property and my sister's, they were on site until around 5 PM. Both my sister and I are more than satisfied with the work done. If there were an A+ category I would give that in each area. Don't hesitate to use Friendly Tree Service.

Service was fantastic. We got a very detailed estimate of all of the work with recommendations of what should definitely be done for safety reasons and others that were cosmetic, or more about tree care. We could pick and choose what we wanted done. We were extremely happy with the service. John is now our "go-to" tree guy and I can't recommend him highly enough. I wish every service provider was like this!

They live up to their name! Excellent, professional, and timely service. Very easy and good communication about the whole process. They forgot to call day before about the exact time of arrival. No biggie, because they showed up first thing in the morning and got to work! Our trees look amazing and our home is now safe from the dangers of the overgrowth and dead branches. Will definitely call them next time I need tree work done. Highly recommended!

They were excellent, on time, cleaned up all cuttings. They were extremely nice, and I would recommend them highly.

We received a letter from our insurance company stating we needed to have branches from a tree trimmed so they were no longer on our house. Contacted Friendly Tree Service through Angie's List and they came out immediately for a quote. We had some old branches on the side of the house and they offered to take that away for us at no additional cost. They were able to schedule us for the following week and they did an amazing job. Got home from work and it was like no one was ever there - the tree was trimmed and not one branch or leaf left behind. Not only did they remove our old brush for free but even took our grass clippings which was a huge help and nice surprise!

The overall experience and value were great. John showed up on time and provided a detailed explanation and a reasonable quote. I didn't even look at other vendors because I trusted what he told me and he gave me a more than fair discount. The workers showed up earlier than expected on the day of service, but they waited politely until it was time for the job to begin and not to wake the neighbors. The workers were extremely professional and got the job done in just a few hours. They asked me before cutting certain branches down and probably ended up cutting down a lot more than was actually in the estimate. I defintely feel like I got my money's worth. The only issue was that the neighbors new patio got scratched up a little from dragging the branches. However, John actually ended up replacing the scratched stones at NO cost so the neighbor was happy. He even stopped by to explain the situation and to make sure the neighbor and I were on good terms. Overall great job, great value, and would highly recommend.

Three men were sent to do the pruning and shaping. Hakim was excellent and has been with the company for 15 years. He was also extremely knowledgeable. He absolutely aimed to please and give us exactly what we wanted in the service. Everything looks fantastic and they cleaned up so well that it looked like they had never been here. Highly recommend!

The crew arrived at 8am and completed the work by 10am. The men were friendly and listened to what we wanted. They performed the work and when they were done, they asked if it met with our expectations. The crew was very professional - no loud yelling like I have heard from crews doing other jobs. Each member of the crew seemed to know exactly what he was doing. We did not get estimates from other companies. After meeting John, we knew this was the company we wanted. When the work was completed, they restored everything to the way it was before they arrived. The only sign that they had been here was the trimmed tree. We would highly recommend this company. This company is a fine example of the way service companies should perform.

Friendly Tree was one of two highly rated providers on Angies List that I called for quotes on the job. Friendly Tree was able to send someone for a visit in person within a day or two of my original call to scope the job, provide an estimate and even provide some advice about how & what to use to replace these two trees. The estimates from both providers came in within $100 of each other and I chose Friendly Tree based upon the time the estimator spent educating me on replacement trees. Friendly Tree was able to schedule the work to occur within a week of the initial estimate. Great initial experience. Things started to degrade on the day of service. I took off of work to be home when the work occurred and was disappointed when I did not receive the promised call to alert me when the crew would be arriving. They arrived late morning and, had I known they would be so late, I would have taken advantage of the extra time. Despite having had an estimator on site, the crew brought a truck and a chipper that were too big to access my backyard via a small alley adjacent to my property and there was no available street parking near my home (they could have called ahead and reserved the street parking with the city). The estimator for the other firm had measured the size of the alley and let me know that they would need to make special accommodations as it was too small to fit their standard equipment. After many false attempts, the crew wound up parking on - and blocking - a nearby city sidewalk. The work went well as the team did an excellent job of removing the two trees with no damage done to either mine or my neighbor's property and they were able to finish the job in a single day as promised. The only hiccup was that they needed to borrow a screwdriver to remove a railing that was screwed into one of the trees. Clean-up did not go well. Again, despite having an estimator visit the site in advance, they were not properly prepared. They brought only a backpack power blower -- no brooms, shovels, dustpans, etc. -- which was completely inappropriate for my tri-level backyard/patio/deck that they needed to clean. They blasted sawdust and wood chips into my house / windows / doors / patio drains in a futile attempt to clear my recessed back patio and turned the blower so high that they split several bricks in the patio and removed the sand filler between bricks. I wound up spending my Sunday cleaning up the patio. Similarly, they did not return my backup generator and other outdoor accessories to their proper places and I spent more of my weekend straightening out these oversights. The focus during clean-up really felt like getting through clean-up as quickly as possible while providing the minimum acceptable service level. All-in, I feel like they are competent tree care professionals but could use some help with their service level and attention to detail. Perhaps my experience would have been different if we had a more 'traditional' suburban property. With that in mind, I would mention them to friends in the suburbs but would advise my urban neighbors to try another alternative.

It went outstanding! They were responsive and they came out on time. No one could have done a better job.

Initial contact with the office in April, found online while searching for organic mulch in my area, was uneven. As a cold caller, the phone mannerisms and honestly rudeness, should have deterred me from pursuing an estimate. I spoke with a man. I cannot remember his name. But I secured a date for someone to come and see my property to provide the estimate. I believe Tony? showed up on time, was professional and lovely, gave a reasonable estimate and ultimately I booked the work. He apologized for the man who I spoke with on the phone, as I shared that the call alone was a close deal-breaker. The men arrived 2 hours late to my job. I would have appreciated a call from the office to let me know they would be late, but no, I called after 45 minutes and was told they were 1.5 hours behind. They were actually 2. My time was allocated for the day, so again, the way the office handled my time lacked consideration of mine. I had hoped that who came to provide the estimate would go over the areas needing mulch, but no, just the men who actually do the work arrived. The point being is that given it's a 'spread the mulch' job may seem a no-brainer, except I had to be here to go over every area and these folks don't know my property. So without someone being familiar with my property, I couldn't leave my house and depend on them to get it right. Back to my time. Imagine my surprise when 3 men show up with warm smiles, firm handshakes, polite and professional behavior. They informed me that they were given the work order for my job right before they came, so they were late not due to their fault, but the fault of the scheduler. I walked the property with them and they assured me they would be careful with my lawn and would do a great job. I believed them, and they did. I was so impressed with this crew that I couldn't imagine having anyone else do this job. They worked very hard, were true to their word and respectful of my entire family. There were multiple moves to juggle cars and heavy equipment and they jumped to it without the usual attitude we've all come to expect. Truly, the crew of Hakim, Harold and Delphino were astounding. I made sure to get their names. My only other negative would be that the mulch is not as 'clean' as I wish it were. There are pieces of hard plastic as well as what appears to be plastic packaging bits. It's not a lot, but that it's there at all is disappointing. Thus the B grade with the quality. As far as grades go, the crew gets A+. And the A+ rating for responsiveness is for the crew attending to issues while they were here.

I contacted John from Friendly Tree Service and he stopped by within 30 minutes! We discussed trimming 2 flowering cherry trees and 1 Large maple. John provided suggestions and options, both in approach and price. He was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain the pros & cons of each option. He also walked us through the permit process for our town We decided to prune the cherry trees and remove the large maple. John's team arrived at 8AM sharp, as promised. The maple tree was ~ 45 FT, close to an in-ground pool, next to our neighbor's fence and generally in a very awkward location. Frank, the team lead, introduced himself professionally and went to work quickly. Despite the awkward location the large maple was taken down piece by piece in just a few hours. No damage to the surrounding sheds, fences or pool! The team then went about grinding the large stump below grade level. Debris was removed and the area thoroughly cleaned. Having finished in the back the team pruned the cherry trees in the front, resulting in a nicely manicured yet natural look. Everything was cleaned and disposed of before they left. John and his team are knowledgeable, prompt, professional and thorough. Add a competitive price and you can't beat the service. I will definitely call on John and team for future tree service needs!

Friendly Tree Service was hired to trim 2 trees a large maple tree and a brich tree. I spoke with John describing I needed 2 trees trimmed. The 1st tree is large maple tree that hasn't been trimmed in years and the 2nd tree is a brich tree located in the front of the house. I told John that the house is a rental and I was concerned about the maple tree in the back falling (branches, limbs, etc...) onto to tenants. The brich tree, which is in front of the house, over grows into the power lines every year. I asked John if he could trim that tree to prevent it from growing into the power lines, which it does every summer. The first strike - We scheduled a date for the work and i informed my tenant that Friendly Tree would be there on May 1st at 12pm to trim both trees . The tenants made arrangements to be there for the service. After we scheduled the work, John called a day or 2 later saying he couldn't May 1st and requested May 2nd. I called my tenants to inform them of the date change. The second strike - May 2nd at 12pm, Friendly Tree Service is a NO SHOW with no call. I had to call them to see where they where and if they were coming? John said absolutely, that they were running a little late, but would be there in an hour. May 2nd at 1pm, Friendly Tree Service is still a NO SHOW. I called John back and said they'll be there by 2pm. May 2nd at 2pm, Friendly Tree Service is still a NO SHOW and when I called John back for an update he didn't pick up the phone or return my voice message. I had to John back on Monday to ask what happen? He said they ran busy with a previous job on May 2nd and couldn't make, he apologized and I accepted. I get busy to, so I told him that I understood. Also Friendly Tree service had the HIGEST rating on Angleslist, so I figured it was worth the hassle this was turning out to be. The thrid strike - Friendly Tree did show up on the agreed date and time (I believe it was May 7th), but not only didn't they do much, but they also managed to upset my tenant. My tenant called me while Friendly Tree was still there and said that they didn't much, I wasn't there to oversee the work. I was told my presence wasn't needed, BIG MISTAKE. I went there the following day to see what Friendly Tree Service did and they didn't do much for the money they charge. Because of they left a bad impression on my tenants, I hired another Tree Service Company to ACTUALLY do something. The 2nd Tree company said"Whoever trimmed the trees didn't do much, they didn't even climb up the tree". It looks like they only cut the branches they could reach with a 6ft ladder. The 2nd Tree Company did a fantastic job, they actually climbed the tree. I called Friendly Tree Service to see if i could get a break on the price since I had hire a 2nd crew and they gave me a 5% break. Be warned if you use them, make sure your present, otherwise you'll have to hire a 2nd crew.

John Lang was punctual, courteous and knowledgeable. He made several suggestions and emailed me an estimate promptly the same day. I was able to schedule the work for the following week.. The crew arrived on time and worked diligently for nearly eight hours. They completed the agreed upon work efficiently and carefully. The clean-up was so thorough that it was hard to tell they had been here. I was extremely pleased with Friendly Tree Service from start to finish. I will certainly use them again and would recommend them without hesitation.

My neighbor has several dying trees that hang over the property line. Dead branches and pieces fall on my deck and yard which is dangerous and messy. I contacted Friendly Tree to cut all the branches back to the property line. They didn't. During the job, I asked them to cut further back on one branch in particular and they refused because a little sprig was growing on the branch. So now there is a thick branch extending 7 to 10 feet over the line with a little sprig sticking out of one side. Looks dumb. There were smaller branches on some other trees that weren't touched at all. Friendly Tree Service is exactly what the name says. They are friendly people who are very friendly to the TREES which might not be what you had in mind. They are concervative cutters. They won't cut beyond a point where growth is occurring-- even if it is a tiny sprig growing on a half dead tree! I was left feeling like I over paid for this job and needed to hire someone else to finish the job. A major reason Friendly Tree was chosen was because the owner is an arborist. They tout this in their ads. He came to do the estimate and that's all. I had wanted to ask a few questions about the care of my Norwegian Spruce trees. A co-worker was sent to supervise the actual job, so I never got to ask questions. Another disappointment. On the positive side, they did a nice job trimming the Spruce Trees and grinding down a stump. It was amazing to watch how carefully the tree climbers cut the branches and skillfully used ropes to gently bring down branches. They cleaned up nicely afterwards.
