We needed a roof replacement. We contacted Chris in November and the work was done in January. We received an estimate in writing and decided we would go forward with the job. The job took two days and the roof was completed. We were satisfied with the roof, but the gutter guards were not put back on correctly nor was my final paperwork ever given to us. The day we gave him the final payment he said he would be back to fix the gutters and provide us with a paid receipt. That is the last time we ever heard from him again. We have left countless phone calls on his cell, text messages, emails to the business number listed and phone calls to his business phone number for 4 months! It’s a shame because the work is good but the professionalism his horrible. We have several neighbors who need similar work to ours and in good faith we could not recommend this company. We spent a lot of money and now have no warranty as I don’t believe we will ever hear from Baird Roofing again.

Met with several contractors for estimates on a garage and Chris Baird stood out as honest since his quote was the only that also included structural issues (damage caused by a large hole in the roof!) as well as replacement of all the underlying wood (as opposed to the vague $75-$85/plywood where you don’t really know where you’re going to end up). Throughout the process he was professional, polite and flexible. Before work began he respectfully notified neighbors and when they were done everything was tidy and clean. Chris will go above and beyond to make sure that his clients are pleased, even if the project is on the smaller side - definitely recommend!

Response from Baird Roofing Company
Dear Angie's List. After immediate concern of an embellished, and for the most part, fabricated and negative review, we immediately contacted [Member name removed]. She was in bed, and we unfortunately woke her up. She has non idea who may have written this review, and says she certainly did not, and in fact has recommended us to other friends. I confirmed with her, that when we finished the job, that everything was in good standing, which she has just also confirmed with us via phone.

All went fairly well in the beginning. Mr. Baird spent a lot of time with me explaining the types of siding, showing me samples, etc. His crew was nice and very hardworking. Because of this, I was willing to overlook a few things and had planned on giving Mr. Baird a good Angie's List recommendation. Since I trusted Mr. Baird to keep his word and finish the job, I gave him his final payment before everything was completed because he said he needed to pay his crew. I expected him to return with an electrician to finish the remaining tasks. However, after he recieved his final payment, he vanished. I never heard from him again despite numerous text messages, e-mails, and phone calls. In addition : 1. Mr, Baird obtained a roofing permit, but no siding permit (a town requirement); 2. He did not show up to pay the dumpster company so the dumpster remained in my driveway for a number of days after his crew left. I called the dumpster company to let them know the situation and they were also unable to reach him. Eventually the dumpster company took the dumpster away since it was needed for another client but they did not clean up (a task Mr. Baird told me he would do); 3. Mr. Baird saw my fixtures, but left the wrong size light boxes hanging from uncapped wires. I had to figure out where to obtain the proper size light boxes that would match the siding. I also had to find another contractor to install 3 light boxes and 3 fixtures.
Description of Work: Removed old roof, replaced. Removed cedar shingles and replaced them with vinyl siding.

Let me start by saying the roof replacement work provided by Baird Roofing was necessitated by damage caused by Superstorm Sandy. Our roof suffered significant damage from the storm. Baird Roofing was recommended to us by a friend, but we nonetheless checked them out on Angie's List before pursuing any services from them and saw that Baird Roofing had positive reviews. I've included before and after pictures so you can view the work performed. The Saturday after Superstorm Sandy Chris Baird of Baird Roofing responded to a text I sent him and came to our house that very day to inspect the damage. He appeared very well informed and seemed to know his stuff. He gave me a very, very rough verbal estimate while on-site but said he would send me a written estimate that I could forward to my insurance company for review. (Please note I spoke to other roofers and contractors as well but since I did not pursue any business with them other than phone conversations and preliminary estimates I am not including any reviews of them or providing any comparisons.) It took Chris Baird about two weeks to provide us with the written estimate. While that may seem like a long time to some, in all fairness to Baird Roofing, they were inundated with request for estimates and repair work, as I'm sure many other contractors were after Superstorm Sandy. (FYI - my insurance company provided tarping services to cover the roof damage until repair/replacement could be performed.) Once I received the written estimate, which I found to be reasonable and competitive, I forwarded it to my insurance company and they moved with dispatch to contact Chris Baird to discuss the estimate, materials and labor costs. Chris Baird was very responsive to the insurance company, spoke to them extensively and reviewed with them all aspects of the estimate they inquired about. The estimate and repair work was approved by my insurance company that same day. Once the work was approved, it took Baird Roofing approximately three weeks to actually start the work. Again, while that may seem like an extended delay, Baird Roofing was very busy during this time performing repair work for other victims of Superstorm Sandy, weather conditions during these weeks were not always conducive to installing a new roof and the Thanksgiving holiday also took place during this time. Nonetheless, while we waited for the work to begin, Chris Baird came by to bring us tile/shingle samples, which included a wide range of colors of the tiles/shingles we could choose from for the new roof. We made our choice of color and scheduled the start date. There was an additional delay of a few days due to bad weather, but once the work began Baird Roofing proceeded like a well oiled machine. They prepped, stripped and installed a new roof in a day. Baird Roofing provided a dumpster, post-work cleanup - including magnetically sweeping our driveway, front lawn and walkway and our neighbor's driveway and walkway to remove any loose nails that may have fallen to the ground during the roof replacement. Baird Roofing also provided final touch-up and inspection, and installed a chimney cap - at our request - for an additional nominal fee. Aside from the additional fee for the chimney cap, Baird Roofing's estimate was spot on and there were no additional costs associated with the roof replacement. Overall, we were very pleased and satisfied with Baird Roofing's work, and considering the circumstances they were operating under after Superstorm Sandy, their responsiveness. We would highly recommend Baird Roofing and would certainly hire them again if needed.
Description of Work: Baird Roofing replaced our entire roof after we experienced damage caused by Superstorm Sandy. Once the estimate was approved by our insurance company Baird Roofing prepped, stripped and installed a new roof on our house. Baird Roofing provided a dumpster, post-work cleanup - including magnetic cleanup - and final touch-up, inspection and installed a chimney cap.

We knew that it was going to be an expensive procedure because of the multiple leaks that we had. Chris assured us that he would be able to complete the project in 1 day and be able to repair any roof damage within the budget he had given. No hidden costs! Chris delivered and was able to repair our unusual roof and the unexpected interior damage that was done by the water within the budget he gave us. He was personable, easy to work with and a man of his word. Also, Baird roofing came in 3 thousand dollars under the other two estimates that we got that did not include any potential damage repair. We were even told our roof would be fine for a few months. What a joke! Chris was up front with us from day one.
Description of Work: Chris and his crew did our roof in April 2012. We had waited a long time to have our roof done as it was in need of having all of the layers removed. Our house is pretty big at 2400 sq. ft. We were so happy that we asked him to do our gutters as well and he came back within a few days to do our gutters with gutter guards.

He was very responsive and the work was all done in one day. it has been 1 .5 years and we havent had any problems yet. Irene did not do any damage to the roofing either. So we are keeping our fingers crossed :)We got Chris' reference from our neighbors who also got their roof replaced through his company.Only thing was - I collected more than 100 or so nails from all around the property after the work was done. There are no kids on the property so it did not cause any damage but a magnetic sweep would have been good. But work was good.and I certainly look forward to work with Chris on future home projects...
