We were unable to reach an agreement to have Arctic Air give me an estimate of work, which is a shame as they have some good reviews. Overall I thought their attitude towards work was not professional.
Description of Work: I needed a new Furnace and A/C installed as my 18 year old furnace had failed. I called and made an appointment during a very busy week at work for me, so I had to struggle to take time off from work to be home for the appointment. Arctic Air never showed up that day and never called. I finally called about 45 minutes into the appointment, and the lady on the phone told me she didn't know what happened to the person who was supposed to show up. She asked if I could be home later that day for the appointment, I reluctantly said I would try to make it home for a 6:30pm appointment even though that would have somewhat compromised my work schedule, but the lady said, and I quote: "Oh we don't work that late". She then tried to setup an appointment for a Saturday (several days after the fact), but I told her I had to make a decision with in a couple of days as our furnace and A/C had not been working for about 10 days already, and 97 degree weather was in the forecast. So we were unable to reach an agreement to have them give me an estimate of work, which is a shame as they have some good reviews. But I thought their attitude towards work was not professional.

Response from Arctic Air Conditioning
I sincerely apologize and understand your frustration as this is not typical of our customer service reps. We have five salespeople ready and able to estimate at anytime. We work seven days a week providing estimates as well. We pride ourselves on giving top quality customer service and would have been happy to come out and see you at anytime. I am very sorry this has happened to you and as you can see from our other reviews this is not typical. We are here if you ever need us in the future.

We are available 24 hours a day and the owner forwards all calls to a cell phone. I am very sorry that we never received a message, but normally all calls if not answered immediately are called back within an hour. Please feel free to try us again because we are a very strong customer service oriented company. If you would like to discuss your concerns please feel free to call our office again and speak with one of the owners.

I have a two story house with two story ceilings in the entry way and over the family room. I have two separate a/c units in my home. I called Artic air because my upstairs was not cooling off as the temperature was rising outside. On June 12, 2012 a technician came out and said he "found a weak dual bank capacitor" and he replaced it and I also needed a pound of freon and he added it. The total was 303.88. I wasn't able to see if this solved my problem because the temperature dropped. On 6/20/12 (after two days of 90 plus degrees the same thing was happening again. My upstairs thermostat was set to 72 degrees, however the internal temperature kept rising. At peak it reached 85 degrees with the a/c running. So I called the company back and they sent someone out on 6/21/12. He checked everything and said it was all fine, except my unit had 1 pound too much freon and he let a pound out. So naturally I called the office because I paid $50 for the freon and now I'm being told I have too much. They said I would have to speak with Howard the Owner. He never returned my call. However on 6/22/12 I called again because my a/c still wasn't functioning. They sent someone else out, he checked everything and said the unit was running as it should there was nothing wrong, my upstairs was just going to be this way because of my house and how duct work is done in New Jersey (my home is 12 years old). Then he said I owed $42.80 for today. Confused I asked why i would owe anything given this is the same problem as I originally had, his response "continuous service charge". I said I'm not paying anything. I was still waiting for Howard to get back to me for a refund for the freon. Howard gets on the phone and says "he would offset the continuous service charge with the refund for the freon." Needless to say I'm not happy. I don't think that was fair nor equitable and it's still hot upstairs so I have to find someone else.
Description of Work: Capacitor replaced, Freon added, freon removed.

The customer had recently moved to this home in this development and we know from many of our clients with the same model house that the temperature upstairs will always be warmer than the downstairs. This is due to improper ductwork and design. We had temperatures well over 100 degrees and all that we asked for our customer was to let the system run until nightfall when the temperature would drop to see if our repair had solved her problem. Once we make a repair the air conditioning needs time to work and the final repair, which was done at no cost was only done yesterday. There wasnt enough time waited to see if the repair had solved the problem. We feel that we did the best for this customer in trying to resolve her issue and we fine tuned her ac system for maximum efficiency. We are here seven days a week to service our community and are all always trying to provide top customer service.

The work was done in one day as predicted. They laid down mats to contain the dirt on the floors. The units worked just fine.
Description of Work: Our central air conditioning needed replacing after 18 years. The condenser and the unit in the attic needed replacing and we had the central air conditioning extended to the rec room downstairs (we have a bilevel). The duct work had to go through a closet and laundry room into the rec room. A new thermostat was also installed.

I received quotes from three very good companies. Sales people knew what they were talking about and took the time to review my needs carefully. They each took about an hour in the house measuring, looking at my current system and explaining their company. All had been rated very highly in Angie's List and the BBB so I felt I couldn't go wrong. Went with Artic since they had the best price. Artic A/c came in within 10 minutes of the time they quoted, installed the system in a timely manner and carted all my old stuff away. The guys were very pleasant, polite and professional. In short, they delivered on what they promised and the price was right.
Description of Work: Very pleasant, knew what they were doing when they installed my new a/c, didn't waste time, did everything they promised and carted everything from my old system away. And they were the lowest price. Very satisfied.

It was an excellent experience and the job was done by very professional men. Serg, Mike and Rudy were the install crew and I would highly recommend them to anyone for the way they installed our system. Good job guys.
Description of Work: The Arctic Air crew showed up on time and were ready to get started immediatly. Our old furnace had to be removed and the ducting had to be modified prior to installing the new furnace and A/C unit. The crew worked very efficiently and extremely professionally. There were three men on the install team and they really knew what they were doing. During the install the representative who sold the system to us stopped by to check on the installation and to see if there were any issues that needed to be resolved. There were none however. The install team started at 0800 and were completely done installing with the system completely tested and certified operational by 4 PM. They were out the door by 4:30 PM and our house was already cooled down. This was our first encounter with central A/C and we are very happy with the job. We have a computer thermostat that we needed assistance with the the company was completely supportive and came by to correct any problems and answer any questions we had without additional charge. We had one problem with the condenser fan being faulty but it was replace the next morning and the system had been running flawlessly ever since. We are extremely pleased with the system and the service that Arctic Air has been giving us. They continue to be very supportive and call occasionally to check on how the system is working for us.

Arctic Air came to check the pressure in my A/C unit because I seem to lose freon during the winter. Their technician was professional and down right honest. Other companies never told us what might be wrong whereas Arctic Air told us everything about the good and bad of the unit. He could have changed things on the A/C and took our money as other companies did but he didn't. Thank you Arctic Air.

It went very very well. The initial visit to check the house, furnace, old a.c., and such and give us an estimate was pleasant. The salesman was on time, courteous, helpful, and not pushy. His was the lowest of three estimates we got; we don't always go with the lowest estimate but because of the firm's "A" rating and because he was offering the same equipment as companies that quoted a higher price, we went with Arctic Air. We called to tell them we wanted to go ahead with the replacement on a Weds and they had a crew at our house on Friday morning. They worked hard all day Friday and were done before 5. In the process, they also fixed a leaky pipe related to the furnace/ac and did a couple of other little things that were not part of the job. They just did them as a bonus. They cleaned up after themselves, leaving the basement probably cleaner than when they had arrived. We were completely happy with the experience.
Description of Work: Removed old central air-conditioning unit. Installed new central AC unit. Did all of the necessary work inside and outside of the house, including running a new copper line from the furnace to the outdoor unit. Took away the old unit. In other words, full replacement of central ac with all necessary steps for installation.

? Was having intermittent heat, regardless of thermostat setting. ? Owned house for 8 years, never had heater preventive maintenance. ? Called on a Sunday morning when house temp hit 55°. ? Received return call within 15 minutes, schedule appointment for Monday morning. ? Company called 7:30 AM, said someone would be there between 8 & 9. ? Technician arrived promptly at 9, diagnosed and corrected issue with dirty flame sensor. ? We discussed the Giants dramatic playoff win against the 49ers, despite my allegiance to the Eagles. ? Very happy overall with Arctic. They were reasonably priced, showed up on time and did quality work. During installation, they kept me involved in decisions concerning the "look" of the job (ie. where this line is run, where the AC unit was placed). 3-person team doing the install - all professional and done in 1-day. I did have one issue with the install - however the main office had a person out there next day to complete - no issues. On the sales side, there was no hard push for a higher unit than my home needed. Sales person actually recommended a lower priced unit due to the size of my home and length of time I planned on staying. No "what do I have to do to make you buy today?" sales tactics. Overall - very happy with Arctic. Would definitely recommend

ArcticAir also handled the Lennox rebate ($1500) and the utility rebates (approx $900). I highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: I called several contractors. Howard of ArcticAir was very thorough and professional in his inspection of our home and his presentation. Arctic Air has many recommendations and referrals. He brought up a few issues other contractors had not. Such as the 16 year old system we had since the new home was built did not have sufficient return CFM airflow. He suggested opening a return floor vent to increase the return air. The extra return air seems to have quieted down the noise we used to hear from the old system. Addituonally the Lennox system he installed has a modulating/variable fan which is very quiet at night when we're sleeping.

They are wonderful. They are very reasonably priced. One thing I don’t dislike is that they don’t loath foreigners. I could have used them in another area but they don’t go to that area, to a different county. They had a problem to get my credit card through. So they just asked me to send the check to them and that was after their work was done. It is not that there was any problem with my credit card. As for their quality of their work I have not had anybody back in there. It is a job well done. I was not there when they came but I don’t think they had any problems. I would definitely use them in the future.

The owner came out and we explained that we wanted to switch from oil to gas. He answered all our questions and left us with literature on the company and an outline of the process. Approx. 1 week later a steam heat specialist came out and look at the situation and workedup a quote for us and explained all our options. After the gas co. did their hook-ups and test and we had permits and test from our municipality Arctic came back out and installed the new gas furnace. In the course of the job which required a loop they felt it would be much more beneficial for us and them to have new baseboard elements in two back rooms. They included this plus the addl. work to install them and hook up the loop at no addl cost to us! They also left our basement in much better shape than they found it and provided drop cloths from the entrance of the house to the basement entrance.

I recently moved into a condo that hadn't been very well maintained. I have forced hot air heat and central air with an EAC and humidifier. The air conditioning wasn't reaching the second floor while the basement and first floor were cool. I had the ductwork cleaned to eliminate that possiblity. I called Arctic Air to have the heating and AC checked and serviced if needed. The person who took my call (no name given) told me that they were doing heating turnups this time of year. I explained what I wanted the systems checked and was told that there would be a $135. service charge for the first hour and $45. for each 15 minutes thereafter. I agreed and an apointment was made for 9/19. The technician arrived on time. I explained about the air conditioning, the ducts and that the filters in the EAC were too dirty to clean and needed to be replaced. The technician cycled the heat and AC on, examined the furnace and the AC unit, and removed the filters and ion units from the Electronic Air Cleaner. We had a discussion about the pros and cons of the EAC versus a media filter. He told me that everything was operating normally and that the filters in the EAC shouldn't affect the air distribution to the second floor. He recommended that I should either replace the EAC with a media filter or get new filters for it. The EAC was left unplugged and with the filters and ion units out of the housing at this point. After the technician left I found the manuals for the heating and AC and ordered new filters on line, having decided that I would like to stay with the EAC for the benefits of cleaner air. I needed to measure the filters and afterwards replace the filters and unit back into the EAC housing. Following the instructions in the manual I plugged the unit back in, started the heat and fan and checked the EAC. It was not operating. I called Arctic Air, spoke to the same person as for the appointment, and asked for the technician to give me a call. When the techincian called I asked if the EAC was operational when he did his check and he said he didn't know. He then told me how to go about plugging it in and turning the switch on. I told him I had done this and he suggested that these units were prone to a failure of one of the electrical relays and were very expensive to repair. He said that the unit would work without the ion unit and just the filters. I then asked if he had checked the humidifier. He said he hadn't but then described to me how to change the screen in the unit. I'm going to see how the heating season goes and then proceed from there. I won't use Arctic Air again and won't recommend them. Based on the reports on Angie's List they may be fine for larger jobs, but I don't feel they met my needs.

Got an estimate. They had the low bid. Gave them the job. They came when they said, did the work. After the job was done, and bill was paid, inspection showed there was a small leak in the water heater line and the gas water heater flue had poor draft. They came right away and fixed everything. The system works well. Staff was polite, professional; and responsive.

I contacted Artic Air for an estimate to replace a furnace and AC condensor. I was very satisfied with their sales process and level of professionalism. Mike, their Sales Rep, was helpful and spent a lot of time in helping me decide on selecting the right products for my situation. The overall experience was very friendly and easy-going with the perception of geniune concern for the customer. Their final price was very competitive and frankly they made it a very tough decision in the end. Well done! I would use this company in the future without hesitation.
