A few ups and downs but overall Fabulous. I bought a 'pig in a poke' which is to say , a cabin on a lake with a lot of unknowns! Many things needed to be replaced, addressed, from years of neglect. I feel greatful to have found such a decent non-mercenary crew to call upon.

I want to share an experience with the community I feel is worth sharing. I live on the island with my wife, Janet; despite its inconvenient issues, it is arguably the most divine spot on the lake. When we purchased the island from Joan Sweeny in 2017, it was overgrown and a little worse for the wear. Over time, I cleaned the island up, and today, it is simply stunning. The last significant hurdles were getting a well drilled, replacing the cesspool, and building a new bridge. And this is what I wanted to discuss: the people who made it happen because it's the people we know that can make our lives better or worse. As you know, we are on an Island; how do you get equipment and supplies onto an island? We found a company called Septic Experts, owned by Joe Mayer, which uses a barge to bring in everything. Joe was late to every appointment or showed up without calling- Communication was lacking. But still, We were excited; we found a company that could do it! It turns out he wanted to charge us $85,000! No way, Jose! The same job on Glenwild Lake the year before was $45,000, so we knew he was trying to take advantage of the situation. I spoke with Bill Rohan about it and he was equally aghast by this quote, and he introduced me to Scott Lyon, an engineer who works with Anthony Nasisi of Corgar. I called Anthony, and he quickly came over to speak with me; he was working on a property across the lake for Harriot then. Anthony was such a pleasure to meet; super friendly and completely understood the scope of the work. He understood and was sympathetic to me, not wanting to disturb the island's natural beauty, like moss, mountain laurel, and hemlocks- He described a way he could enter the Island with minimal damage. In two minutes of looking at the Island, he figured out how to get on the Island with machines and supplies without the need for a barge from across the lake. I knew this was my guy! It was either the same day or the next day; Anthony quoted us $45,000 for a state-of-the-art Ecco Flo system. Incredible! He kept to his word on the quote. Scott engineered the system, and Anthony and his son removed the old cesspool and installed the new Ecco-Flo system. Then, he built a custom rock wall around the system. We now never have to worry about flushing our toilet too much! Next our old walk across bridge looking like something out of a Tim Burton movie, warped, crooked and unstable, it was a challenge just getting across. We needed a new bridge to bring the Island into the modern day. We didn't want to rebuild the same old wood slat structure as ice heaves the pillars, and the same thing would happen again. So we looked into pre- Fab fiberglass bridges, light and can be installed on sight. This option was around 75-100k!!! Ugh! Once again, I turned to Anthony and Scott- I suggested a causeway-type bridge as we see around the lake. Anthony was Gung-ho again and said no problem. They came up with a design, and we ran it by Harriot, who loved it, and they got started. The cost for the bridge was 1/4 of what others were quoting us. Anthony and his son Johnnie are a true treasure. Honest, as the day is long, the nicest guys you'll ever meet and not interested in overcharging. Fair is Fair. In the end we have a brand new state-of-the-art Septic system, a causeway bridge that we can now drive our car onto the Island, this was an unexpected bonus!! The point of this post is to share the wonderful resource we found in Anthony Nasisi of Corgar out of Ogdensburg, right up the street. Knowing the right contractors is everything! They even introduced us to a plaimber and electrician.
