We used them two years ago and they were top notch. Went above and beyond to cut vines spreading poison ivy seed outside the area of our yard. Totally different experience this year. Two guys were sent and arrived 1 1/2 hour after appointment time. I would not really mind, but it was at the end of the day and they rushed the job. They were in and out in about a little oven an hour. They left many patches of poison ivy and were nowhere near as thorough as they were previously. We were very disappointed in the service this year.We used them two years ago and they were top notch. Went above and beyond to cut vines spreading poison ivy seed outside the area of our yard. We were told we had to do a service contract where they would come out to remove poison ivy throughout the season. Also, would have been fine with me, by I was under the impression that they would do a clean sweep of all poison ivy on the first visit and then maintain...... not remove the poison ivy over 5 sessions through the season. We were very disappointed this year.

Please find the response I received below. I feel this fee is high. I believe this is pretty high for a travel surcharge. I am about 60 minutes away. Thank you for your interest in our services here at Poison Ivy Gone! Unfortunately, based on the distance between your property and us we are unable to send a technician to do an on-site estimate for the removal of your poison ivy. However, you are still within our removal service area and based on your location, we can offer a minimum service of a 2 person crew coming out and doing a minimum of 2 hours work on the property (a total of 4 labor hours). The price for that is $1,050.00. Should your poison ivy problem take longer than 2 hours to resolve, you would then have the option to sign off on additional time for the crew to stay and finish the removal. This would be charged at a rate of $75.00 per hour per man ($150/hour for both men to continue working). If you are interested in going ahead with the removal or if you have any questions regarding the minimum service quote, please do not hesitate to give us a call, we are happy to work with you to find a solution that suits your needs. Thanks very much and have a wonderful day!
Description of Work: The provider did respond quickly via email, Although They provided me a minimum charge which is higher than most work that has been performed based on the other reviews I read on Angie's list.

Response from Poison Ivy Gone
We're sorry that we could not service this customer but she's 1.5 hours away from our yard ( with no traffic, according to Google Maps) Under normal circumstances and because of roads our trucks cannot drive on, it probably would be closer to 2 hours each way. So, our two man crew would spend at least 3-4 hours commuting plus the time on the property doing the job. We tried to offer a solution but the travel time does make jobs outside of our area expensive. She requested a quote, we explained the situation (she's outside of our primary service area) and provided the quote. She chose not to hire us, so this review is not really a review of our work, it's a review that's basically criticizing us for not being nearer to her location. We're sorry. We give fair and honest quotes and the price we quote is the price we charge. We do NOT add fees AFTER you've accepted the contract. When a customer is more than an hour away we provide a quote that includes travel time.

Before the removal occurred, a member of their team came and walked the property to give a detailed estimate. It was about 2-3 weeks before they could come and do the removal. On that day, the team arrived and got right to work. We spoke with the foreman to make sure he was aware of the trouble spots and they hit them all. Approximately 2 weeks after the initial removal, we noticed more poison ivy growing back in the area where the bush was removed. I called back and explained the issue. I did not get an immediate answer as to whether the additional removal needed was included in the scope of the original contract. However, after sending pictures, they promptly squeezed us into the schedule and came and removed the remaining vines. I have not seen any ivy pop up since and if it does I know who to call... I would recommend if you have constant issues with regrowth to invest in the maintenance plan.

I wasn't sure if all the vegetation that was invading my backyard fence was poisonous. I met with Chris, and he went over all the details of the program, removal, and maintence programs. He was very knowledgeable in detecting poison ivy, even recognizing it from the distance. He went the extra mile to even look behind my backyard fence to search for problems. He didn't charge me a dime because I had no infestation, luckily. If I ever do, he would definitely be a good person to call.

Went very well. They sent one man, John, who worked for 5 hours one day and came back for another 5 hours the next day. He removed vines and placed in big plastic bags. He raked up litter from the removal and even used a shovel to grade some soil that was loosened because of the pulling of the vines. He actually helped me find the property marker for one of the back corners of the property so we could make sure that all the unwanted brambles and vines were removed on my property. The two hugh poison ivy vines that had made it all the way up the trunks of the two trees were cut and the cuts were "painted" with the herbicide. He removed the vines (non-poison ivy ones) that were climbing up several tree trunks and vining from bushes to trees and trees to trees. Vines were removed as high as 10 feet (the ones higher that that will die since they were cut lower on the trees.) Matt (the manager) pointed out to me a pine tree on my neighbor's property that had a hugh poison ivy vine all the way up the trunk also (I intend to speak to that owner because it is close to my property and the berries and seeds can spread easily back.) The fencing around my backyard as well as a composter and a beautiful boulder was cleared of all vines. I know there is still poison ivy still intermingled in the periwinkle that my husband planted to hold soil on our hill after we had an in-ground pool installed many years ago. I intend to have the company come back again to keep it in check and make sure it does not spread as far and as high as it did.The whole property and fence areas look so much better now. I had begun to be embarrassed at how neglected some of the edges of my property was starting to look because of the vines getting out of hand! Matt, the salesman/manager was knowledgeable about plants and their biology and growth and shared willingly without making me feel like he was trying to scare-monger me or sell his services too hard. He was also respectful of my opinion and some previous knowledge I had of poison ivy and vines (I was the owner of an organic lawncare company for 10 years .) My only criticism, which is as much my fault as their's, is that some periwinkle removal that I spoke to Matt about when we discussed what I wanted, was overlooked. But that is only because other issues popped up as the work was being done and were dealt with within the time frame Matt gave me. In the future, I would get all the specific issues mentioned in the contract so that there is no question what the priorities are. (Good for the customer as well as the contractor!)
Description of Work: Removed English Ivy, Periwinkle vines, & other vines that were growing from bushes & trees and fencing and intermingled poison ivy. Also cut and treated large vines of poison ivy that had grown up to the tops of two hugh trees. They cut sections out of them and "painted" an herbicide on the cut portion to kill the roots so they would not grow back. I did not want blanket broad spectrum herbicide spraying to kill the poison ivy so was willing to have them hand pull the poison ivy vines and treat the two hugh vines that had grown (probably for several years) up the trees. They removed all the vines (most were non-poison ivy) that was growing up and through the chain linked fence surrounding the whole back yard and pulled back the periwinkle plants that had gotten out of hand in several areas. They removed some small seedlings that were too close to my neighbor's property

We are very pleased with this company and their work. The company responded immediately to my phone call. Estimate given within a day and work performed within three days of phone call. All work completed in one day by two employees. Employees were extremely polite, professional, efficient and conscientious, thoroughly examining every inch of our large pachysandra beds for any trace of ivy. Large host vines were discovered and removed from a large oak tree in the front of the property and another on the side of the property. Ivy was also discovered on the side of a neighbor's house. All ivy was removed along with their root systems. We haven't had a problem since. The first time we used this company we were living in another residence in Summit, NJ. Ivy had infiltrated a large garden in our back yard. Our experience was excellent. They responded quickly and successfully removed all ivy in our yard as well as ivy that had spread into a neighbor's yard. Ivy did not return the following year. We were so pleased with their work in the past, we called them back when we discovered ivy at our new residence in Convent Station, NJ. I highly recommend this company. Good work, fellas!

They were great. They worked very cleanly, wearing hazmat suits, and took all the weeds away in large plastic bags. When I found additional poison ivy that was missed, they came back and removed it and I was not charged. They were very responsive to my calls. I signed a contract for a 5 times yearly remediation program because I was so happy with their work. Pricey but well worth it.

Once they came to do the work, it was done promptly and well. I thought the price was fair and the company was very knowledgeable about poison ivy. My only issue was getting through to the person who quoted the price to me and scheduled the job, but I think it was because they are very busy. I believe they will be adding more staff so they can be more responsive in the future. I would definitely use them again.

I really appreciated the honesty of Poison Ivy Gone.
Description of Work: I thought what I had was poison ivy and called them. They came out and told me it was not poison ivy, just weeds. They said it would be around $200.00 to pull all of them but had it been poison ivy the cost would have been approx. $500.00. They said I should just call a landscaper, which I did and who I like a lot, and they pulled everything for $75.00.

Work was excellent. Matt (the supervisor) and the two workers were friendly and gracious. There was one problem, but when it was called to Matt's attention, it was immediately rectified: Estimate was for 2 to 3 hours for two men but the two worked for a total of 1 and 1/2 hours, although they sat in their truck til the full time was over. I explained the situation to Matt and he immediately sent out a revised bill. I absolutely recommend this company.

All went great...Identified and then pulled out all poison ivy growing in our yard...including our fence which had it growing all up and down our fence and also on our neighbor's side too. Then they sprayed fence to make sure they got all the poison ivy in the cracks. We weren't happy about the spraying since we have children and a dog, but we understood that they wanted to make sure they didn't miss anything. We were worried that they missed a spot with poison ivy & they got back to me and were going to come back to check if they missed some (but we realized it was not poison ivy after all- so they didn't need to come). Matt and crew were a pleasure to do business with.

This year has been an entirely different experience. Came home to find a hang tag on my door saying they had been here. I went out to the yard to make sure everything was ok, and found in plain sight a large batch of plants right next to my patio. I contacted them via email and the next day I came home to another hang tag. They took some of it out, but right there in plain view is another batch of it. I contacted them AGAIN this morning and included photos with the hang tag from that day (so they know I'm not sending old pictures). I asked for the situation to be remedied and for an adjustment on my bill. To date, I have not received so much as a phone call, email, text - nothing to even acknowledge my message. The poison ivy is STILL out there.
Description of Work: We had Poison Ivy Gone do a major job last summer for us, and were very pleased at the time. They cleared out a huge poison ivy problem and we had no recurring growth the whole rest of the year. When we noticed more than just 1 or 2 plants coming back this year, we got in touch with them again for basically a maintenance service.

We learned that you can't really remove poison ivy too late in the season (think it has to still have its leaves), and we were lucky that PoisonivyGone had some time to deal with our problem before it got too late. They carted away everything, too, leaving a clean area. The removal seemed like a tedious process -- there were 2 men in hazmat suits meticulously pulling out the poison ivy for about a half a day. The bill came in exactly as estimated. No surprises. If you have a very extensive problem, they can put you on scheduled maintenance plan, but we didn't think it was necessary for our issue.
Description of Work: A fair amount of poison ivy was creeping over our fence from an elderly neighbor's yard. We had PoisonIvyGone come out and estimate the job, and we worked it out with our neighbor to split the cost of removal. The company was very professional from start to finish. They came out a few days later and cleared the area including some English Ivy with which it had become intertwined. They made it abundantly clear that we would lose some of our English Ivy in the process and we were perfectly okay with that in order to get rid of the nasty stuff. We would use PoisonIvyGone again in a heartbeat if it ever comes back.

Matt and another man showed up to pull out all the poison ivy on our property. They were very professional and courteous. We have a lot of poison ivy in our neighborhood. They ended up staying longer but didn't charge me extra. They kept to their original estimate. We ended up signing up for a maintenance program where they would come 3 times a year to check and clear any poison ivy that grow. I would definitely recommend them.

Very responsive when we called for an estimate, and punctual when he came to give us the estimate as well as when they came to start the job. They had everything cleared and debris removed within one day. Very neat - no straggler roots or anything left on the ground. Initially we thought it was kind of pricey but if we had to get a landscaper in to pull all that undergrowth out it surely would have been the same or more. Well worth it not to have to deal with the poison ivy ourselves, especially with such an extensive problem.
Description of Work: Poison ivy was overtaking our entire yard, to the point where it was entwined with other plants and weeds and impossible to just get a bottle of Roundup spray to remove it ourselves. We called for an estimate and Matt recommended ripping everything out on the one side in order to ensure everything was removed.

I didn’t use them and it was only because my landscaper knew someone who wasn’t allergic to poison ivy and he pulled it out for free. The guy from Poison Ivy Gone came and was really professional. They were really good about coming out and he was on time. He was professional and he presented himself well. He gave me an estimate and it seemed like a legitimate company to me.
