Description of Work: I had two cracked panels. The gave me an estimate of $450 for each panel and told me these were typical in stock panels. Right before the appointment they tell me the manufacturer suddenly no longer sells them in twos and I have to buy four panels. Total scam. I found another A rating chimney company on Angie's to replace only the two panels for a total of $375 for both panels and labor.

We had no intention of "suckering" anyone, we never even obtained a deposit from this client so there was no loss on her [Member Information Removed]. We were attempting to offer this client the best replacement product for her fireplace which apparently was not what she wanted. When getting ready to order her panels (not the day before the install appointment) we realized that with her irregular oversized fireplace they would be 2" too short height wise for the standard stock panels we were anticipating ordering which would have been very unattractive looking. This was our mistake for not catching this on site however we wanted to bring this to the client's attention in order to offer her the best possible result. As an alternative we tracked down the specific replacement panels from her fireplaces manufacturer which are only sold as a complete set. We offered the two additional panels to the client at a 50% discount if she wanted them which we thought was fair but when she became upset we tried to explain to her she did not have to take these two extra panels and that we would keep them in case she ever changed her mind in the future as we would have no use for them and we would only charge her for the original two she needed. Client became very irate and immediately started threatening us with making bad reviews so I guess we knew this was coming but it's just very unfortunate because we believe she just really didn't understand what we were offering or cared to hear us out. We are however interested to see what company she was able to hire to provide the exact size panels she needed for her fireplace so quickly especially this time of year and inexpensively knowing what we know about what was required for the install to be done correctly. Bottom line is we addressed this client's concerns immediately and offered the best possible solution but this was a client who was difficult and rude to our office staff from the moment she made her initial appointment and was very unreasonable in this particular situation, not allowing us to thoroughly explain the reasons for the change we were proposing and jumped to conclusions instead.

I was extremely pleased with the professional and punctual way they delivered services. Two gents, Jay and Mike, pulled up to my home at the designated time, changed their white t-shirts into dark blue ones and upon entering, gave me a business card, introduced themselves, and proceeded to put a tarp down on my floor, vacuum my fireplace and then put a series of brush handles UP the chimney to clean away anything. They vacuumed again, ensuring that they included the tarp, and the job was done. A visual inspection indicated I had minor issues to deal with, and I was given a paid receipt along with an estimate of the charges expected if I opt to complete the repairs. As of this writing, I do not know if I will take them up on the recommended repairs, but I was impressed by them. I wish certainly recommend them to other homeowners I know on the street that maintain a fireplace! Great company!
Description of Work: The company, via an Angie's List email offer for $70, came into my home, cleaned and inspected my fireplace/chimney and made recommendations for improvements.

Great guys...I interviewed eightal different companies for help with repairing and making four fireplaces functional in my 200+ year old house. Their knowledge of the best solutions (i.e. golden flue) made them the right choice! You can trust them!
