Flue Tech Inc

After reading multiple reviews about Flue Tech and other companies, we decided to go with Flue Tech. Most of the reviews we read about them rated their service well, with the only consistent complaint being about their punctuality. Not only did they show up during the time slot they committed to, but they showed up on the 1st hour of the 3 hour window. They also called us the night before to confirm our appointment. They did not hard sell us on any additional services, but did point out any areas of concern and the costs if we chose to use them to repair them. They showed us pictures of what they inspected which was very helpful. Our techs were Mike and Steve. They were professional and took proper precaution to make sure they did not make or leave any mess. Mike really did a thorough job of explaining everything for us, which we appreciated. We would use them again and recommend their service.

He came in time and cleaned the chimney which are not bad to begin with.

They were very timely and even called prior to them arriving. Professional and knowledgeable. They cleaned fireplace and chimney and assessed any issues with both the fireplace chimney and oil flue.

They cleaned my fireplace. They did a good job. I was very upset however, to see a posting several days later for the same service at a considerably lower price. I would not use them again due to the pricing. I believe this service could be done for a lesser expense

The quote and schedule were done by the owners, Jay and Mat Meadows. Jay came and looked at the chimney top to bottom and gave me a quote with options within ten minutes after his survey of the chimney. I accepted the quote (out of 3 prior quotes) and it was later scheduled by Mat. This time period was about one month from quote to completion of work. There was a rain delay and was rescheduling from Friday to Monday. Two Flue Tech technicians came within the scheduled time and did everything that was quoted. They were very though in their work and within an 1 1/2 hours they were done. They answered all the questions I had about the work and added helpful details, and they were very polite. All in all it was a very pleasant experience and I would call them back for any future work on my chimney. I would recommend them to others.

We are now talking to Flue Tech about some improvements we want to do to our fire place.

I initially scheduled a free estimate for October 16, 2013 and they (Jay) were very prompt and explained everything. It was going to be a costly job for us, but we really enjoy using our fireplace and it kept our family warm after the storm-related power outages last year. After discussing it with my spouse, we decided to move forward with the work. When I called the next morning, I was told he (Matt) hadn't received the estimate paper written up for me but that he would call me back. He didn't follow up so I called the next day and he was able to schedule me for two weeks out. I was scheduled for the cleaning and repair on October 30, 2013...I waited home all day (because the window was 11 am-2 pm). They never called to say they were running late. They never called to confirm the appt so I called that morning and he said yes they were coming. When he didn't show up by 4 pm, I called and he said he was bogged down with another job and couldn't make it! He offered to reschedule for the coming Saturday, November 2, 2013. The window was the same, 11 am - 2 pm, and he assured me since I was the 3rd job for the day, they would make it...well, lo and behold, another whole day wasted - no phone call, no "we're running late, be there soon" - my spouse was furious and I was left horribly disappointed. I really had high hopes for this company - all of the reviews were great - but now I can read the reviews again with a keen eye - read a bit deeper into the reviews and you can see punctuality is a major issue. Unfortunately I would never do business with them again because they never gave me the chance to in the first place. Thanks for nothing.

Workers we very nice. Worked quickly and left everything very clean. Showed up 3-1/2 hours late do to problems on other jobs. They did call and let me know they would be 1 hour late, then another hour late and then another. Frustrating because I had to take 1/2 a day off of work to sit and wait. That said they were very sincere in their apology.

They arrived at the end of the time stated but called 15 minutes before they arrived since they were running late and wanted us to know that. They were quick and efficient and commented on how clean the chimney already was (usually they will say how bad things are). They found no problems on the inside but pointed out some early deterioration of the mortar by the cap of a recently (4 years ago) completed rebuild of the top 12 courses of the chimney. They did not pressure me about a possible repair but did quote the work if done. I would use them again.

Except for coming at 1:30 when they said they would be here between 11-2,everything went very well.They were very professional,courteous and friendly.

We had purchased a big deal for the service, and it turned out good. They did a quick service and they were informative on what needed to be done, because there cracks on the base of the chimney.

Showed up for the appointment promptly, got the work done and reported no problems with our flue or fireplace insert. The only negative is that the appointment was scheduled for 2 weeks out from the time we purchased the Big Deal, probably due to high demand for their services.

The two guys who came were very nice and efficient. We had a leak and it turned out we had not had a cap on the outside of chimney. The only thing I was upset with was I forgot to mention that they vacuum our trap in the basement. I would have expected them to ask me where it was, but they never mentioned it and it totally slipped my mind.

Arrived at my home within the schedule time frame. The individual that came ( Jay, I later found out he was the owner) was friendly, courteous and professional. He informed that the job would take approx. 35 mins, laid out a tarp and swept my chimney. The job was completed and he cleaned up completely, leaving no indication that he was there. Speaking with Jay after he was done, he stated the oil boiler chimney should be swept every year, I haven't ever had it done. Jay said he could sweep that chimney for the same price. He then completed that job also. While sweeping the oil boiler chimney, Jay found several issues with the boiler chimney that I need to address. Jay explained what the issues were and gave me options for repairing them. He then gave me an estimate for the options he recommended. At no time did I feel pressured by him. Completely professional!!! I would highly recommend this Company

See above description - Jay ( the part owner, brother) came out and gave a thorough investigation of the situation - one of the few estimates which included pictures - he was the very first to completely explain the problem. Then he gave a thorough detailed - better than most - itemized estimate to which he stuck to the end, with a few adjustments necessary as the work revealed the need. Matt tried to schedule us as quickly as he could - on a Saturday - because we had told him the tenant had small children and might need the heat for the week end. All in all they were most cooperative, reasonable, clean, quiet and helpful as well as respectful of the tenants.

I contacted them online and then by phone. They were not able to give me an appointment until 2 weeks out. The job was done by another contractor.

I found Nick from Flute Tech to be extremely friendly, knowledgeable, courtesy and bright. I would definitely use them again.

They were horrible. I called them for a chimney issue. I asked them if they did chimney bracing because my insurance said it needed done. The guy came out and looked at it and said you need bracing, which I knew. He said the chimney has a slight tilt. He said he would not put in a brace until I got a structural engineer to come out and tell me where to put the brace. He said the structural engineer would cost more than they would. He said even when he got the report he wouldn't be able to do it for a couple months. They are up in North Jersey and told me I would have to leave them a $500.00 deposit. I drove up there to leave the check and there was no slot or anywhere to put the check and the door was locked so I slid it under the door. I called the next day to ask if they got the check and they said no to put a stop payment on it so I did. When I told them I was referred to another chimney company, they said they already ordered the part and found the check. I told them I already had the work done. I then received an invoice for 20$ for a stop payment on the check from them. The other company I was referred to when I called I asked if they did bracing he said yes. He came out gave me a price what it would be and did it the next week.

Went better than I expected. The company reps actually seemed honest! I've heard bad things about chimney sweeps. I watched them very carefully and they did all of the work well. I'm very satisfied.

The technicians arrived right on time, went right to work, protected our floor and furniture and did an excellent job cleaning the chimney. Checked the chimney stack on the roof and pointed out some problems, suggested two ways to fix it, but didn't pressure us to do it immediately. They were very professional, in and out in less than 30 minutes. I would definitely recommend this company.
