I bought a Kohler generator 8 years ago from them. The installation went well and I never had a problem until now. There isn’t enough room here to explain everything that happened. In essence, they attempted to charge me $1300 for the same repair that was done less than a year ago and was still under warranty. When I asked why the same repair had to be done again in less than a year, I was told it was because my generator was 8 years old and was made to last for 8-10 years. Michael D. recommended not to put any more money into the generator and sent me an estimate for a new one for almost $9000. After doing a lot of research and speaking with a Kohler technician, I found out that a Kohler generator will last 25-40 years and is built to run about 1000 hours. My generator has run 200 hours and the technician said it was “a baby”. If you buy a generator from them either get someone else to service it or learn all you can about generators.

Absolutely horrendous! Unethical pricing and sales tactics, taking advantage of people during storms. They charged me double what they quoted, and claim that I have a different generator than the quote. Took several months to hear back from them about a contract! They may answer the phone for sales, but don’t care about you or when you are serviced. If they say they are on the way, that isn’t true either and they don’t care if you’re waiting days. The office is a mess, and the techs are very messy and will leave oil spills all over the place! Attached is their price list, would love to know if anyone else got this pricing or were ripped off! They tried to charge me 70% more in their most recent contract!!!! They definitely increase pricing if they feel you can be taken advantage of.

Steer clear of this company. They don't have ethical business practices and their work is not good quality. Spent a lot of money on their services and they failed to deliver every time. Go to another Kohler company for generator installation and electrical work.

Professional efficient and courteous

I cancelled in 2017. Was notified June 12, 2018, they were billing my credit card so I called and told them that I had cancelled. They promised to remove. On july 11, called them again cause the credit wasn’t issued. They promised to call back by 7-13...no call. Wrote email on 7-14... got 3 responses with different answers. Bottom line, it’s july 17 and my credit card still doesn’t reflect the charge was credited back.

Great. Came out to perform assessment, clearly explained what needed to be done, offered good price, and had team there to do work right on schedule. After completing work, Bold called PSE&G to set-up necessary follow-up. I will use them for all of my future electrical needs.

the installers arrive promptly on time and followed the quote exactly as written. they ran into some problems withhold installations that will not up to code. they removed some boxes and reinstalled new code acceptable fan boxes. they also installed 10 Z-Wave smart switches and the new outlet. this was the second time I've used Bold Electric in my home.

We called Bold Electric to identify why we lost power in a few of the rooms in an apartment house we own. They mentioned that they charge $150.00 an hour for one electrician and 180.00 if the job required 2 electricians and asked if we agreed to that. We did and when the electrician came out to the house 2 electricians were in the van however only one came in to troubleshoot and see what the problem was. Once he discovered the problem the other electrician came in. They discovered they needed to replace 3 circuit breakers however they didn't have the right brand so they had to come back another day to replace the breakers with the right brand. Two electricians returned the following week and finished the job. We were charged a total of $395.00 which we thought was excessive for the work they did. We also had my daughter provide the 5% off coupon where one of the electricians took a picture of it with his phone and sent it to their office however they stated that they never received it. I emailed it to them and they still didn't acknowledge that they received it. It wasn't until my husband stayed on the phone with the office and made sure they received it that they deducted the amount. Final payment with the coupon was $374.60. We also spoke to a representative regarding our concerns with the price and they stated that we agreed in the beginning to their charges and if we thought we could get it cheaper somewhere else we should have done so. We felt they could have done the job with one person and should have had the right circuit breakers so they didn't have to come out another day. They didn't offer free estimates so it is hard to know what the final price of the job would be.

Job was done promptly. The electricians were professional and knowledgeable.

Used the emergency phone number listed on Angies List and Dan immediately answered the phone. He put a plan in motion to get the repairs needed to restore power to the home.. As promised, he and his son, Vincent (owner), came out quickly this morning, assessed the situation, provided a quote and dispatched electricians to repair the issue. Very happy that they treated the problem with urgency and professionalism and kept me in the loop the entire way.

Very well. Minimized cost by reusing line from old outlet while making sure any safety or standards concerns were properly addressed. Their price was well below two other companies that came and provided an estimate. On time for both visits (estimate and work) and cleaned up perfectly. Estimate proposal clear and complete as to all work. My only complaint is they did not accept American Express credit card.

Two electricians came and completed the work in three hours. Everything was perfectly completed and they cleaned up afterwards.

You will never find refuse around when they are done and above all they are always on time.

I first looked up Authorized Kohler Generator Service Agents. Bold Electic / Bold Generators.com came up on Kohler's web site. Then I looked them up on Angie's list. I was impressed by the number of reviews and what people had to say about Bold. I also read their web site, and they seemed to offer all the services I required and wanted, including a Service Plan for my generator. I received the error code from my generator on Sunday, and I called and emailed them. I received a response from their Operations Manager in under an hour on Sunday evening, which I was very impressed with. I told him my issue and he told me what time in the morning would be a good time to call. (I wasn't a Service Contract subscriber yet, but I was interested in becoming one, which I am today!). Javier called me first thing Monday morning and had their lead generator tech Tom come out for a late Monday morning appointment. Again I was very impressed with the speed at which I was able to get an appointment. As I'm interested in tech and machinery, I watched Tom and his assistant, troubleshoot my generator, and Tom was able to pinpoint the issue very quickly. If you ever seen the inside of a whole house standby generator, you know they are basically Car Engines with huge Alternators and advanced Microcontrollers and high voltage, high current automated switching circuits. I also had Tom perform standard maintenance of changing out the oil, and oil filter, etc. I also decided to have the Battery replaced and a battery warmer installed. The other big item was the installation of the Kohler, OnCue system, which links my generator to my home network. Tom and George ran CAT 5 from the generator to my rack mounted router (we have a large home network). I sign up for their Platinum Service Contract for my Generator. After working with Javier, Tom, and George, I have a lot of faith in the company, that I found the right people to maintain my generator. My biggest concern is that the generator would be out when my family really needs it, in say another prolonged blackout like we had in Sandy. I can't imagine the frustration of having a whole house standby generator like the one we have and it not working during a long blackout. That's why I think a service contract with a company that stocks motor oil, filters, and other parts and has a large enough team to dispatch is very important. A generator is not an appliance it's a complex machine, and you need a company like Bold Electric to maintain that machine. Otherwise you only have half a solution. I am extremely happy I contact Bold and look forward to their monitoring and servicing my generator. Based on the quality of their work on the generator and the speed at which they were able to give me an appointment, I plan on using them for other electrical work I have around the house in the future. Note that the cost of the service includes the annual service contract fee for the Platinum Plan, and the installation of the OnCue system. The actual repair work was covered under Kohler's Warranty. Note to Kohler Generator Owners: Remember to use an Authorized Dealer from Kohler on your Kohler generators, Bold Electric is one of them, but check Kohler's web site for a list of dealers in your area. They give a 5 year warranty on their generators and it's very good, but you don't want an unauthorized tech working on your generator potentially voiding the warranty. As a side note, and I won't mention the name of the company that did the original install of my generator. They also are Kohler Authorized dealers of course. And I was very happy with the original install, but I can tell you that I agree with other reviewers, that particular company, while good, does have some scheduling problems. When I call for service on my generator, I expect same or next day service at the least. It's an expensive investment for your home and the entire point of it, is to ensure you always have power. If it's not working and needs service and you can't get someone out to your house right away, what's the point of having it?

Following a demo of our basement and prior to french drain installation, Vince's team came in to remove all loose hanging wires and live boxes with wire exposed. He estimated the work would take 1 full day but they finished ahead of schedule! Vince and his team were prompt, courteous, professional. They came highly recommended from our neighbors who used them for a generator installation. Vince also gave great advice on how we might consider rebuilding the basement, based on the age of the house and electrical needs. We will be using him again

My experience with them was very good. They are dependable. They have a quick response if here is any problem which we had one problem and they were right on-top of it. I would recommend them to my neighbors and people. I always talk about our generator and the many times they had been there for us. Their price is a little high, but it is worth it in the long run. I find them to be always very much upfront. They introduce themselves and say hello. They have identifications on them.

They were pretty good. The estimate was free. It was a good price. I ended up doing it myself. They responded pretty quickly and they were punctual. I do recommend them sometimes now.
