Description of Work: The company came to inspect the chimney and determine if it needed to be cleaned, which it didn't but they found the exterior brick on the chimney had cracked thru to the sleeve. It was agreed that they would take it down to roof line and rebuild but upon standing on the roof, the roof started to cave. Although the singles were less than 10 years old and in good shape, the last roofer had sealed the vents and the sheathing was rotting from the inside out. You could go up there and stick your hand through the sheathing and into the attic. The whole roof had to come off and be replaced. | |Upon taking the chimney down to the roof line, they found that the chimney had never been fastened to the structure and was "free floating" so it had to come down further. And, of coarse, the sheathing behind the chimney was rotten. | |This job was like peeling layers of an onion. The sales rep was quite professional and very responsive. Each time they knocked on the door we would cringe because it meant that something else was probably wrong. They would explain, show us what they meant and we would inspect what was found. Then they presented various solutions and associated estimates. I believe most jobs like this would have come to a halt while trying to get the right supplies and skill set to the job. These guys kept it going and it was done in 4 days.

Description of Work: DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! We called them to clean our chimney. They "inspected" the chimney and said it was clean but the bricks outside needed repair and he would extend the chimney a little to 3 feet tall. He gave us a price of $475.00 When he came back to do the work all of a sudden it needed much more done and the price was now $2500.00. One of the workers came down from our roof with a large bag of cement he said came from the chimney. My husband told him we wanted another opinion and he became very rude and pushy saying it would be another $500.00 to come back. I don't know where all the cement came from because none was missing from the chimney. I think they bring their own cement to get the homeowner panicky that their chimney will collapse without them doing the work. We thought it odd that they took it with them when they left. DO NOT use them!! They have a nice little scam going for themselves! We later found out that no legitimate company will repoint the chimney in such cold weather.

Description of Work: They swept the chimney. We also had some external chimney work completed.

Description of Work: Removed old part of chimney above roofline, installed steel liner & built a nice new capped chimney to match the new color of my house, with cream colored bricks.

Description of Work: Was given phone estimate of $45 to clean chimney. When technician arrived, I was given price of $125. While I realized initial estimate might be too low, this new estimate seemed too high. I didn't proceed with the work.
