Modern Fence

The estimate and contract were detailed and the cost was similar to or slightly lower than two competing estimates. We waited about three weeks for the team to be available after we provided the deposit. Ken had let us know there would be a wait. The workers arrived as scheduled and completed the job in three hours. This involved removing the old fence, breaking up concrete at the site of the old posts, digging new post holes down several feet, setting new concrete, and installing the posts, panels, gates, and caps. The fence is more stable and the gate more secure than previously. The look of the fence is attractive and does not detract from our waterfront view. There were some aspects of our experience with Modern Fence that we did not like. Ken told us that his team would remove the waste from the old fence and fill in the old post holes. The team did remove the old vinyl posts and panels, but left the broken-up concrete and did not fill in the old post holes. Instead, they left the dirt extracted from the new post holes in piles nearby. In addition, the team littered some plastic anchors and space fillers associated with the old fence in the lake. The remainder were strewn about the shore at the end of the property. The team leader said his crew would not be responsible for these items and declined to take them away with the old fence. We were very disappointed to find them littered about the property rather than piled up away from the water. Ken was highly responsive when we called to tell him about this, and offered to send someone out to clean up the debris and fill the holes (which we declined, as we had already done this).

Mike the sales rep was EXCELLENT. He was very professional and knowledgeable. Dave the installer was very nice and easy to work with. All work was done in 1 day. i would definitely use them again. VERY SATISFIED!

They did everything they are supposed to do as outlined in the contract. We are happy with them.

The agreed upon day has passed and I have not heard back from the company.

I placed an inquiry online and was promptly contacted by Modern Fence. They sent Mike out to do an estimate. From the moment he arrived, he was quite professional and clearly knowledgeable. He walked me through the entire process and gave various options depending on what we were trying to do, while also trying to stay within a reasonable budget. We had other companies come out and give estimates as well, but none were remotely close to the experience we had with Mike. Although Modern was slightly higher from a price perspective, we elected to go with them because of the service aspect. Once the fence arrived, it was a 2 day install (we have a very uneven yard). The crew was also very professional and the final product was one we are quite happy with. I would definitely work with Mike and Modern Fence again.

Ken was able to come within one business day of my call and arrived promptly. He was very professional and helpful in measuring the area I wanted to enclose, in finding my property marker, and in explaining the process of installation and the quality of the product. I would not have hesitated to hire this company, but I had gotten a slightly better price from another company that was also highly recommended and could complete the job in a shorter time frame that better fit my needs..

Project went very smooth as well as the fence installation. Mike was very nice and provided us a detailed design and quote. Work had to be rescheduled several times due to inclement weather but they were very good in contacting us to reschedule.

When Mike left, I was in a much better position to evaluate other contractor's proposals in terms of value...not just cost. After we received several other proposals--to include one from Lowe's--we selected Modern Fence to do the work. They have a clear and complete contract, they have an excellent warrenty covering both labor and installation, and an excellent admin section that processed payments and coordinated start if work. Installation itself was completed quickly and completely, with the area left neat and clean. They followed up with us after installation to insure we were completely satisfied.

We used Modern Fence mainly because the provided the best offer in a community purchase and because of their reputation on Angie's List. They provided the quotations on time and were very professional in their servicing. The materials they used were good quality, and I was pleased with the end result.

Waited two months for installation, but understand because there was a lot of damage in our area from Hurricane Sandy. Started job approximately when promised. Very pleased with the quality of the fence and the job, except for the gate. The gate is uneven - contacted modern fence and they did come to inspect and were going to replace. So far this has not been done. People were very professional and friendly.

I needed immediate Fence work done and I reached out to Modern Fence twice via message. I never heard back....that is until today. The owner and one of the other employees called me to apologize to me for not getting back to me because they were having problems with their Message center. They were so apologetic and it was obvious to me I made a mistake in writing the original review. THEREFORE....I will give them another shot when I need other work done on my fencing. They cared enough to apologize and to let me know there was a problem with their message center. So to me that is CUSTOMER SERVICE. I will definately give them a try.

They were very professional. The fence that they put up is very well built. I think that they did a good job installing it. They did it within the time frame that they had estimated. There were a couple of areas of the fence that I needed to make adjustments to during the planning process, and they were very accommodating.

I had mike come out and give an estimate on a new fence for our backyard. He was very professional and walked us through the process. The fence was priced within out budget, which was great and his crew showed up once we received the permits! Overall great experience and the quality of the fence is great!

It went ok but not that great. The installer was playing games and did not want to deliver everything we bought. I had to breath down his neck constantly but he finally came through. He did not want to put the inserts in. The professionalism, service and clean up were fine. They would speak Portuguese and then when you would speak to them they would finally speak back in English. The person who gave the estimate sounded very professional but the delivery was very shaky. They canceled two days in a row. He would come at like 4 in the evening when it was started to getting dark and then the second day was just a few hours and then he fixed it the 3rd day. The price was just better then the average. They are not out to fulfill your contract.

We had a great experience with Modern Fence. Mike was very responsive and professional, available to answer any questions we had, and followed up with us afterwards to make sure that we were happy with the installation. The overall process was very smooth - from the initial quote to the install to the inspections. We are very happy customers and would definitely recommend Modern Fence to others.

called modern science back in July the stated that they had approximately a 4 weekly time until they could fix the fence I placed a $500 deposit they called 2 days before they were able to come and fix the fence and then they fix the fence on the day that they promised the technicians who came to fix the fence were very polite and helpful

Was told once I signed the contract i would be on the schedule in 6 to 7 weeks. This is becuase modern fence manufactures all of their own materials. In addiition, their fencing materials are a lot sturdier than the flimsy fencing you see at Home Depot. After getting final approval from my town on the location of the fence, the crew showed up to my house as promised. I was told the job would take 2 days weather permitting. Fence was completed in 2 days and my wife and i couldn't be happier. The crew did a great job removing and cleaning up after the old fence and my new fence makes me the envy of all my neighbors. Modern Fence offers great pricing and stellar workmanship. Mike the salesman was impressive too. I would highly recommend their services.

Overall, I had a very pleasant experience. Ken was very thorough in his estimates and took time to walk through various points. In comparison, others did not invest enough. This was my primary reason to go with Modern fencing even though they had significant wait. Scheduling was easy. They had to do the work in 2 days due to rain but I was told before. Quality of fence and install was good. On the day of job, we ran into couple of issues (tree at the corner of property, hedges not trimmed, etc) but modern fence worked with me through those. One suggestion to the company - it may help if you send foreman few days before work starts. It did not end up being a problem for me, but it could have easily turned into one. Came in a timely manner for an estimate and explained everything well. Installation went well, staff was on time and asked questions on how we wanted final details done and consulted with us if there was a challenge in installation. Only complaint is that we were not told until the staff was removing the old fence that there were not going to dispose of the old fence's cement and we had to take care of it.

Ken is the owner of modern fence. He and modern fence are great! I put a 6 foot PVC fence around my whole back yard. I did a lot of research regarding type of material and dimensions of fencing. Ken's fence was a much better quality than most! The price is very reasonable. His workers will show up on time and are professional. Overall I had a great experience. If you are planning on getting a fence, I would definitely recommend modern fence!

It went great. Ken was very professional. He showed up on time and provided me with a reasonable estimate. When I wanted to make some last minute changes they were more than accommodating. The workers arrived 30 minutes ahead of schedule and did a great job with the installation. I highly recommend Modern Fence.
