This was a big job. Contractor worked 2 days. Day one was excavating front yard which led to the discovery that the 'orangeburg' (bergh?) pipe had deteriorated/collapsed just under the curb/street. Further discussions with the town construction engineer revealed that the sewer main could be down 18 feet. Obviously this is very deep and the deeper they dig the more it costs (me). Contractor was fair and made me feel like he would solve the problem no matter what but also had me feeling uneasy since the final cost wasn't discussed fully (my fault) and the depth of the main line under the street was not immediately known. All in all the contractor did an excellent job. His crew worked two days straight with what seemed like an army of men and equipment. I hate to admit it but he came across as a nice guy and his crew spoke highly of him as well as local policeman and people I know in the trades. So you're asking why I'm making the comment about hating to admit it... Well without prompting the contractor said he'd take care of my water service to clean the line and also write me a detailed receipt for the work done. Mind you I paid him in full within 10 days of the completion of work not to mention paying him half the cost after the first day of work. That is fair to me. I never mentioned cleaning the water service. I never mentioned him returning to cover the fill material with top soil. I never mentioned the receipt but obviously I expected a receipt after handing over $10,000.00 to him. I went away for business after the work was completed so I left him alone for two weeks. I called upon my return and he said he'd send a receipt. This was the third time he promised a receipt. First it was to be mailed, next it was to be dropped off, then it was to be emailed. Still no receipt. He never returned to bring top soil He never completed the water service cleaning. I don't mind the water service because I never expected it and figured maybe he did this at or close to cost so the water service was not something he could "throw in". Regardless of the circumstances here we are 3 months out from the job completion date and I never got top soil, never got a receipt, and obviously have completely forgot about the water service cleaning ever happening. What is sad is day 2 of the job I did him a favor of giving his driver a ride to pick up his son from day care. Days later I actually gave the contractor a ride to drop off a check. Why would I do this? I simply felt grateful and indebted to him for returning my life to normal. It took weeks to decide whether or not to include the negative part of this review but here it is. Quality of work is excellent. Communication was good. Price was average for this type of repair (I know because the town representatives told my plumber as much). Just wish I held back on paying a little of the total amount due until I got the receipt. I'm going to click 'No' to the question "would you use this provider in the future' with the hope that someday he will call me, apologize, and just give me my receipt. If he does I will come back and edit my rating. The truth is I would love to hire him again and I trust his work. But putting me in a position to beg for a receipt leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I still think he is a good guy though and his work speaks for itself.

They come in with a full crew and they do the work in a professional manner. They know the product, they know application. They could have improved on sealing, they are notorious for not doing it.
