We used Steven a while back to re-upholster a vintage settee. He completed the job in a timely manner and it was very professional work. I even called him after a few weeks, to tell him personally how happy and pleased we were with the final product. We then took a wing chair to Steven in the fall of this year. Now, I am VERY specific about the details for all furniture, design, etc., as this was my profession for over 30 years. I explained to Steven I wished the main part of the chair to be covered in the floral I had purchased and was still on the bolt. The sides of the chair was a ticking fabric that I purchased on Ebay and hand dyed to the specific color I wished to coordinate with the floral. Then for the seat cushion, I also hand dyed a vintage bedspread. Maybe Steven was having a bad day, but he was extremely rude and verbally obnoxious to us. He was throwing around the bolt of fabric, then the dyed fabric, because he seemed to be in a tizzy about the three selections of fabric I was giving him to use. I asked if he wasn't able to do this type of upholstery and he answered "Yes", he had in the past. He picked up the bedspread several times and threw it again several times stating it was "all dry rotted". There WERE several tears in the bedspread, but only in a small section. There was plenty of useable fabric for him to make a cushion cover. My husband was rolling his eyes at me and was head-motioning towards the door, silently questioning if we should just take the chair and leave. I was very upset and annoyed at Steven's childish behavior. ONLY because he had done such a wonderful job on our previous piece, was I willing to just keep my mouth shut and let him work on our chair. But, we both vowed, we will NEVER return to use his services again. His attitude was completely uncalled for and just offensive. On the day we picked the chair up, I just paid the bill and ignored him. [Also, a WARNING!! Steven SMOKES in his shop. The workshop reeks of cigarette smoke. He must have Fabrezed our settee, because we didn't smell smoke. When we picked up the chair this time, we didn't smell any smoke in the shop, so hopefully he stopped. He's working with his clients fabrics and furniture! Very unprofessional!!
