I felt it was important to share information about my experience with this company so no one else would run into the same disappointment that I did during an interior paint project. I trusted the owner Patrick to oversee the job and to ensure that the job would be done to the quality I thought he was known for in his field of work. I was told that he would be on site quite a bit to help and oversee the project and that each day my house would be left in the condition that project started with meaning paint equipment etc would be put away. Unfortunately, I was let down by the quality of work but most importantly the quality of care by the owner. During this project I experienced many frustrations such as paint supplies and equipment being left out (opened containers of paint – fumes, drop cloths, ladder, including items left on top of bedding, etc) throughout my home, a broken piece of furniture, various items not being put back properly such as tv not hooked back up, blinds not hung back up properly, supports for bed not put back properly, lights not hung back properly, stains on my carpet, paint in sinks, on cabinets, on mirrors, on tile and wood flooring, etc. I have a camera system clearly displayed within the home and saw many things throughout the project that were frustrating such as the painters not working a great deal of the time, on phones, not painting a second coat of paint, etc. I never brought what I saw up to the owner because it is unsettling having strangers in my home so I wanted to go about it in a way that would not upset anyone. I sent Patrick a few emails with things such as asking him to please check the work to ensure a second coat was being applied, to let him know of a few things that I wanted to make sure didn’t happen again, etc. Many of the emails received zero response including an email that I wanted to add an accent wall and change the laundry room color (these areas had not been painted yet). Side note – the accent wall and laundry room was done with the color I requested on the email even though I was left wondering if it was going to be done or not since I didn’t receive a response to the email and Patrick attempted to charge me for the color change but I explained the email was never answered to let me know if it was going to be done let alone an additional cost. The emails that I did receive a response to I was accused of having the paint stains of the carpet prior to the job, was accused of damaging the furniture myself – specifically that he felt the furniture was previously damaged and improperly repaired which caused his workers to damage the furniture (not the case the furniture was never previously damaged or repaired – the workers did not pick up the piece of furniture when moving it – it was dragged on the floor which caused the damage – the piece of furniture is not heavy so it could have been easily picked up), I was told that he doesn’t work on the weekends and does not respond to emails on the weekend. Side note – Monday came and went and still no response to the emails. Another side note – I notified Patrick of the paint stains and the damaged furniture so he could ensure that it wouldn’t happen again – I never requested to be compensated for either. I was disappointed because I kept most of my concerns to myself and only asked for Patrick’s assistance with the concerns that I wanted to make sure would not happen again. I was very kind and reasonable with all my emails. Again, I realize I have strangers in my home so was kind and cautious with how I approached everything. Towards the end of the project I looked at my camera system to see how close the workers were being done for the day (I always respected their space and tried to stay out of the house when they were there) and I saw Patrick was there. I was happy because he was not on site for the project longer than a few minutes each day and I had emailed him earlier in the day to look over the work. I was hoping he would see some of the poor-quality workmanship and address it on his own. Instead to my disbelief I saw and heard Patrick laughing at me – he joked about how I emailed him on the weekend and he didn’t respond, one of the guy’s told him he thought some of the stains on the carpet was from the ladder and Patrick laughed and said we will go with the stains were there beforehand, my father offered to the guys if they wanted to take the piece of furniture that was broken during the project that they were welcome to it if they wanted it because we were not keeping it – Patrick laughed and said yeah take it and sell it and make money off of them, etc. I was appalled by his lack of professionalism and totally surprised by it. He seemed wonderful when we met with him during measurements, etc. Clearly, after what I had experienced during the project and how I heard the business owner speaking I was not comfortable having him back in my home to complete the project. I emailed Patrick with my disappointment in what I experienced during the project and what I heard him say and explained I was not comfortable having him back in my home. Most of my disappointment with this project was not with the painters. It was with the business owner and his lack of involvement with the project and his unprofessional nature. I offered to pay him for 90% of the project. It was tough for me to offer this amount because I did not get anything completed on this project that was of high quality, but I wanted show that even after all I experienced, I was being kind and reasonable. There were still many things that needed to be done – a door painted, tons of touch up work with spots missed, a second coat of paint in areas where it wasn’t applied, uneven paint job in many areas, let alone all of the things I needed to clean up – the paint on cabinets, mirrors, flooring, carpet, sinks, etc. Patrick requested that I make full payment and he would complete all of areas that needed to be fixed or were not done. I reminded him the reason I was not comfortable having him back in my home. Payment was made and now I am left with an unfinished job to deal with. Each day I find more areas that were poorly done or missed all together. I have numerous pictures taken throughout the project of the frustrations, I have pictures of all the things that were not done properly, I have all email correspondence and I also have various things captured by my camera system. Initially I was not going to post a review because I figured Patrick would have it removed or post a comment to try to justify things and that it wouldn’t help anyone. However, I have all the correspondence, pictures and camera system data to fully justify this review. I am hoping that the business learned from this experience and that no one else will have a negative experience like I did with the company.

We had just put a 30' x 20' two story addition on our house for my 93 year old mother-in-law. As the job was nearing completion, I wanted to schedule having the exterior of the addition and the original house painted before it got too cold to do so. I went on Angie's List to come up with a list of reputable painting contractors in my area. I contacted Power Washing and Painting Pros along with several other contractors via email. Pat McGowan of Power Washing and Painting Pros called the next morning and set up an appointment to come out to our home that afternoon. Some of the other painters chosen from Angie's List, never even called back. Pat was very professional and took his time measuring for the job. Since we have copper gutters and wooden shutters on our 223 year old house, he advised that all gutters and leaders would be removed from the entire house. They would hot wash the surface first, and, when dry, caulk as needed. His price was considerably less than other painters I had contacted, which at first concerned me, but the reviews he has received led me to award him the job. Two weeks before the job was to start, his secretary contacted me as a reminder as to the start date. Then shortly thereafter, Pat was emailing me as to our desired paint color and paint manufacturer. We specified Benjamin Moore's Country Red, which we wanted in a monochromatic application. I asked Pat if he would include washing and painting a 12' x 36' shed that's near our house. He said he would and only charged an additional $920. Pat's workers came right on time, and set about their work. His men put in full 8 to 9 hour days. Pat was always in contact with us to let us know what to expect. I greatly appreciate that level of communication. As they neared completion, Pat joined his men, going over anything that they possibly missed. My wife and I are well pleased with the work that was done. We have received numerous compliments on their work. I would have absolutely no qualms with recommending Power Washing and Painting Pros to anyone. Thanks Pat, Jennifer, Bob and Nick! Job Well Done!!!

Patrick McGowan did an excellent job on the exterior of my home. He power washed it and painted the trim on the exterior. He was always on time, worked quickly and was courteous and friendly. He respected the fact that we had to keep the gates closed for my dog. I would use him again and I highly recommend him.
