We are very happy we chose CertaPro Painters of Mountainside for our large painting project. Our family has a Dutch Colonial single family house with a detached garage that hadn't had the exterior painted in several years. The house is at least 110 years old, the public records on it go back to 1905 but we wouldn't be surprised if it were another 10 or 20 years older than that. We chose CertaPro because of their reputation for professionalism and dependability which is what we really wanted for this project. We wanted a company that would perform in a business-like manner and not mysteriously disappear for days at a time in the middle of the project and who we would have to chase down. We worked with Jason the residential project manager on the original inspection and estimate and then Renata the office manager on other scheduling and contract tasks. They were both great; easy to work with, pleasant and very responsive via phone, email or text when we needed to talk to them. We thought the estimate might come in higher than other mom-and-pop painters but the price was very fair and in line with others. We believe you really do get what you pay for so we had no hesitation proceeding with them. The actual prep and painting project was performed by Marcony and his team. There was extensive prep needed due to the condition of the exterior and they performed all that skillfully as well as the two coats of paint and trim. They were excellent! They really went out of their way to make sure we were satisfied and all our expectations were met, which was extra challenging when dealing with such a vintage house. Our schedule was somewhat affected by the very rainy April that we had, but Marcony and team were very flexible and kept us informed at all times about the feasibility of working the next day based on the forecast. There were no surprises - they kept in touch as needed via phone and text. Marcony even texted us a couple of photos as the first small section of paint went on the side of the house to make sure we still liked the color when it was actually applied and not just a web-based color chip. They also completed all the extra details we had contracted for such as the prep and painting of exterior screens/storm windows and painting of a new cupola for the garage. And every day they cleaned up after themselves before they left so the property didn't look like a bomb hit it for the length of the project. We also contracted with CertaPro to have their on-staff carpenter Raul do about half-a-day of add-on carpentry work that the house needed. That also was well-done and we are very happy with the results. The bottom-line is that without a doubt we would use CertaPro Painters of Mountainside again and would recommend them without hesitation to others.

It worked out well. I liked that they were very professional. They came with a lot of people so it got done quickly, where some of the others we contacted would have taken double the amount of time to get it done. They got back to us really quickly.

Everything went as explained. They worked hard and where polite. All of the rooms look fresh!

Everything went well. Kevin was prompt with an estimate, and willingly revised it several times, as I changed my mind about certain things. They also installed a chair rail in my dining room. I painted before moving into the house, so there was no furniture. The crew was prompt, professional, and cleaned up after themselves. I was very happy with the job that they did. I would use Kevin and CertaPro painters again.

It went perfect and better than expected. They were just absouletly perfect and did an excellent job with their prep work.

Went very well. I am having unexpected family visit for Thanksgiving, thus needed this painting in next 4 weeks. Signed up thru Angie's list. Salesman / estimator came next business day, within 5 minutes of scheduled time. It being early November he told me they were pushing to do all outside work before it got too cold. But, he called "home" to verify that they could do this small indoor job on the next "rainy day". Two days later heavy rain was forecast; I got the call, The workers came in the rain, did my job. Three weeks to Thanksgiving deadline; Wonderful timing; Great job.

It was a bit dicey at moments but ultimately the job was completed and was done very well.

I've decided not to use them. The quote was close to $4000. I had setup an appointment in the future. I said I wouldn't be home so I couldn't be at my house into 3:15. The person in the office assured me that 3:15 would be fine on a Friday. Jason was the consultant who came out. He harassed my husband who was at work and then called me when I was on my way home. He said that he was at my house at 3:00. I said that it's nice but the appointment is at 3:15. They could have had the best quote and the best price. After that experience, I wasn't going to deal with it.

They arrived on time and did the job on schedule

We took advantage of an early season booking so price wise it was an incredible deal.

It went excellent. The crew were on time. They did all we asked and did it well. They went the extra mile reinstalling some fixtures which were not identified in the original contract. We will be using them again in Spring 2014 for master bedroom and master bath The job site was left clean. No mess. Trim cuts were perfect.

I contacted them beginning of August for a paint job at my house (3 rooms inside and some outdoor paint) They called me back the next day for an appointment and showed up for the estimate at the pre-arranged time. The provider took over 1 hour to measure the areas, take pictures and answer all our questions about what paint types, timing and logistics of the work. He had a whole mobile office with him and printed us a full estimate wilh all the details at the end of the meeting with time lines - where to go to see samples of the paints and left us with some samples too. Then it was up to us to decide to use CertaPro - their was no pressure on their side just a friendly call a week later if they could be helpful or if we had more questions. We decided to use them and chose our paints and fixed the start day of the work. Workers showed up on the exact time on the 1st day and the 3 other remaning days that were planned to get the work done. The job was done very professionnally on the time agreed upon by professional and friendy painters who aways made sure that all the work areas and non work areas of the house remained clean and neat. We are very happy with the quality of the work and will definitely recommend them and also use them in the future for other jobs.

Work was done on time. The process to finalize contract and schedule appointment was done in a timely manner. Sales rep Jay, was responsive and professional. Crew assigned was very nice and cleaned up daily before leaving. Site manager Marconi was on top of all details and even came back to install shutters and address plate. I would recommend them. They came when they said they would. I asked them to do some additional things and they gave an estimate before doing those tasks. They were very professional and cleaned up after themselves.

Disappointed thought better from this company.

I have contacted CertaPro for an estimate to paint the exterior of my house. We agreed on appointment. Steve stopped by on time, had all the information. A deposit needs to be provided to have the contract in force. Done, done done. A few weeks pass and I get a phone call from a gentlemen who wants to powerwash my house. I did not hire anyone to powerwash my house. After two or three days of these calls, I am finally told that I need to call CertaPro to say it is ok to powerwash my house. Hmmmm...I thought I hired CertaPro to paint and they will powerwash my house before painting starts, so why I am getting a call to approve powerwashing. OK, let's go with the flow. I call CertaPro and a surprised female voice on the other side of the conversation tells me that she will find out what is going on. Needless to say, someone shows up to powerwash my house. I am out of the house most of they day, but when I come home, I am a bit disturbed by what I see. First, my front bay window that is white has developed brown spots on the frame. All over it. OK. As I walk around the house, I notice that my teak deck furniture with $300 chairs is being used as ladder substitute and has stains on it that smell like bleach. Next I notice that large stones have been moved around so that the ladder can be placed on them to provide firmer footing. Lastly, the latter is crushing my front bushes as the gentlemen powerwashing the bay window is frantically trying to make the brown spots go away. I hold my panic in, chat with the gentleman doing the work and walk inside. I get online and in about 30 seconds find out that the bay window is not to be powerwashed. I tell the gentleman to stop and hear all about how he did not know etc. etc. Hmmm...We then get into a conversation about how a single coat of paint will not be enough, I inform the gentleman that the contract states two coats and I am quickly informed that it is $600 more for another coat and the contract states a single coat. I walk back in the house, print a copy of the contract and present it. I receive a short "I will call back the office and get back with you." OK. next we get on the subject of how the house was powerwashed but the gutter risers need to be taken off. I am quickly informed how that is not part of the arrangement, but I quickly defer to the contract and yes, the gutter risers need to be taken down. I contact the owner of the franchise office, but receive no call back. Fast forward a number of rainy days. We provide the numbers for 3 colors to be used as samples. Wwe had to go get the color wheel ourselves, because the paint person did not have samples of anything. Person who paints, does not have any samples...hmmm...We receive 2 samples (we asked for 3). Both are painted on the side of the house. Both samples are interior paint based, not exterior. We are told not to worry. OK. Fast forward a few days and it turns out that our chosen color mixed with exterior paint does not match what the sample looks like. Really? I thought I heard from the painter that it did not matter and now I am told that in some cases it does? Great :-( We settle on the color and painting is to commence next day as I live town and leave my wife to work with the painters. Half way around the world when I arrive, the phone rings and I am told that the painter is looking for payment because he is done. I ask my wife, she says, she thinks it is nearly done and he should be done on that day. I ask her to cut the check for 75% of the balance and off we go. I get home in a week and surprise, surprise, the house is not nearly painted. Actually, things that did not need to be painted like my deck or the soffit are painted. I request that the franchise owner meets me at the house. 4 more days pass and we have our meeting. I have my list of 21 items that represent the type of issues. We cover everything. The bushes in need of replacement after the paint work (they were fine before the painting started) will need to be re-purchased with my own money. The list of stuff will be dealt with the next day. I come home the next day and my painter wants to talk to me about one thing, can I cut him the check? I barely got out of the car. Come on! I walk around the house and notice that most of my requests are corrected, but find a few new issues. This tells me that I have a choice to make (a) keep pointing things out to a company that supposedly specializes in this and stress along the whole process or (b) just write the check, get a brush from the basement and spend half a day of my time doing the things that I hired CertaPro to do. I may be "weak" but I went with option a. Check was cut, CertaPro is gone. So far 2 hours were spent getting paint off the deck. Next week a couple of hours will be spent painting in places that need attention. After that the house is finally painted. In summary, it all comes down to this: - Seems like Kevin, the owner of the franchise wants to do the right thing- Steve who did the sales work, did well- Things that were committed to were never delivered or done, such as providing a color wheel (had to go to the paint store myself) or usage of a machine to remove paint from my shakes (yes, they have grooves so they cannot be sanded)- The gentlemen who painted my house was in a rush to get out of this place ASAP and all he wanted was to be paid- If you are looking to have your house painted think about these: (1) you don't have to be involved enforcing the contract terms (2) demanding that basic things like clean up re done (3) etc. then CertaPro is not it. Go somewhere else, it will be well worth it.

We had a totally good experience. They followed through on their promises. Their work included stripping the siding, put down primer, and then applying the paint. Overall, I was satisfied with their work and service.

I thought the price was high but the quality of their work was very good.
