DISTINCTIVE POOLS

While driving north on Route 35 through Mantoloking and Bayhead; a Distinctive Pools, company pick up truck rode our bumper and the weaved in and out of traffic while speeding. We contacted Walter Korabiak. He stated that he wasn't able to do anything about the driver. The driver does this all the time and is crazy since he has small children. Walter said he wished people would call the police and said that is what we should do. We don't know anything about the quality of their pool service, but one of Distinctive Pools employees is a danger on the roads.

Walter Korabiak is the owner. He builds beautiful high end pools. Very high quality and great workmanship. However, it is very difficult getting in touch with him on a timely basis. Our second full year with his pool and we had significant shifting of pavers of our deck and problems with the pool heater. We have called him endless times and has not gotten back to us. Shows you many pools he has built and then you gradually realize your quote does not include all the bells and whistles he has shown you. Let the nickel and diming begin. Very aggravating process. Not sure I would do this again.

They are really good to work with. They are neat workers and everything came out really good.

The township refused the variance for the pool, so this company took off with our deposit. At first, they said they would return the deposit, but several months later, it never arrived. We even had an attorney call them, and that did nothing. We spoke with Walter the owner and he said he would send the deposit back. We've hired an attorney to get our money back.

We had Walter over for an estimate and plans for a new pool. His brand new Range Rover should have warned me, but he seemed like a nice guy. We signed contracts and I gave him a $9,000 deposit. Months went by with no return of phone calls or messages. I hounded them daily until finally it seemed that something was going to happen The following year, after many calls, some movement began. An application to the township for a permit was submitted. Weeks later, the township engineer came to our door. She told us that she was very sorry, but due to the boundaries of the property and the topography (a steep slope to the back of the house) that there was no way in which the town would ever approve of a pool on our lot. This, in her words, was due to safety issues. I informed Walter of this fact. He said no problem, he would refund the money. Months went by but no response. Finally I hired an attorney. Distinctive's attorney stated that they used all the money for the plans.
