Description of Work: Loading crew was professional and fantastic. My belongings were stored in a warehouse for ten days. Upon arrival, however, many items were destroyed. Beyond that, it was obvious items were handled with total disregard. Items that had been packed in boxes or containers like Christmas decorations were being carried in by hand, damaged. Items like trash cans, a computer desk, nightstand, garage storage racks and patio furniture were smashed dented and clearly had been handled poorly. The crew doing the unload apparently was removing inventory stickers from the items as they are missing, and I now know you need these numbers to file an insurance claim. The people who handled our stuff had no respect for the simple fact it was someone else's lifelong belongings.

Description of Work: We had a mover set up for our May move from NJ to FL. They canceled 10 days before the move so we were scrambling to get a new mover. Patrick, Transtar's sale agent, came to the house the same day I called and provided a fairly accurate estimate and was able to keep our same pick-up date. A team of 6 men arrived on a Monday morning, on time and fairly quickly & carefully packed everything in our apartment and 2 storage lockers into the truck. Upon contracting with Transtar, we were told the delivery date would "probably" be Thursday or Friday the same week. My husband made adjustments to his airline ticket to accommodate their timing (at a considerable increase in price and change fees). When the movers arrived, they said there was no way they would be delivering that week! They did arrive the following Wednesday, but only had 3 men to unload the truck. The 2 who came from NJ with the truck were great. The local guy was not as careful and dropped several boxes coming of the truck. |In the end, our total was actually a few hundred dollars less than the estimate, so that was a nice surprise. (Estimates are based on an estimate of the total weight) |Overall, I think they are good. If you are doing a more local move, I would say they were great!

After researching this customer, and speaking with her sales rep Patrick, I would like to first comment by saying that this is an unfair review of Transtar Moving Systems, because this customer did not even make her move with us. Not only that, but Patrick does not have an “arrogant, nasty, or disrespectful” bone in his body; he is always very kind, accommodating, and personable to everyone. I would like to respectfully disagree with this review, and have the following chain of events to explain why. In February 2014, Patrick met with this customer, and provided her an estimated cost for her upcoming long distance relocation. The customer did not make her move right away, but contacted Patrick in September 2014 with new dates, and a revised inventory; Patrick then revised her estimate, showing a lower cost. The customer service department sent out paperwork for the customer to sign, which was never returned. The day before her booked move date in November 2014, the customer cancelled her move, and said she would follow up with new dates. In December 2014, the customer made contact with Transtar and said that she would like to have a different representative come out to give her an estimate; we set someone else up to see her, and provided her with another estimate. This third estimate that was given in December 2014 was higher in price than the one provided in September 2014 because items were added to the inventory. The customer followed up with the customer service department and said that she was not ready to move yet, and would follow up when she was. We have yet to hear from the customer since then. To conclude, with the evidence mentioned above, I will say again, that this is an unfair review of Transtar Moving Systems. We would be happy to do business with this customer, and make things right.

Description of Work: Transtar movers came in on time to load our furniture. One of the movers wasn't very careful about some boxes that marked "fragile". We had to let one of his co-workers know and ensured him to pay more attention. When the delivery came, we found a few things were broken. They did not assemble a couple racks before they left.

Description of Work: We hired Transtar to move us from Camden County to Burlington County, NJ (about a 15 mile move). We went from a 1,600 square foot, 3 bedroom house to a 3,000 square foot house. The sales person arrived promptly and took a look at our stuff, giving us a quote of $1,200. We told him that we had a box truck to move the attic and crawl space, but we needed everything else to go on their truck. We were assured that there would be plenty of extra space on the truck if we couldn't fit everything on our box truck. The morning of the move,a crew of 3 guys showed up to load the Arpin steak body truck (we were told we would have a tractor trailer). The guys that loaded were great. They didn't break anything and got our furniture disassembled and their truck loaded in 4 hours. The problem is that their truck was only big enough to hold our furniture and none of the boxes. Luckily, the boxes just barely fit on our box truck and in our personal vehicles. The shining stars of our move were the ladies working in dispatch. Unfortunately, our closing was delayed 3 days and they were extremely wonderful about working with us on moving around delivery times and hold overs ($75 per day). When it was finally time to unload, 3 different delivery men showed up. The unloading was done in 3 hours. They were nice enough, but did bang up the house a bit, knocking some trim off of the doors. The most aggravating factor was that they brought no tools with them to reassemble the furniture that Transtar disassembled. I felt this was very unprofessional. If you take it apart, you should put it back together. The end result was that my husband and I were up all night putting the baby's crib and our bed back together. Overall, we had an okay experience. It could have been worse.

Patrick Sipera arrived for the estimate on time and was very thorough and friendly. He gave me an estimate that was reasonable compared to many others we received previously. It wasn't the cheapest, but it was far from the most expensive one we got. When I inquired about how close they usually get to their estimates, Patrick told me 'unless you add stuff, it will definitley not be over this price'. In between the day of the estimate and the loading day, we made several trips to our storage unit, removing items, which, in theory, should have lessened the cost of the move. Move out day: Saturday, 6/23. Moving crew, consisting of 4 men, arrived on time. One of the crew brought their 5 year old son with them, which I considered unprofessional, but didn't seem to interfere too much with the job. They were careful to place cardboard over our marble entryway so it wouldn't get damaged. The seemed to hustle and get the job done quickly. It took 5-6 hours. Move in day: Tuesday, 6/26. Crew, consisting of 3 (different) men, arrived at 9:30am. Upon arrival, the driver of the truck clipped a large branch off of my new neighbor's tree. Even though it ended up being insignificant, that was a very stressful few moments for me, especially having not yet met my neighbors, who weren't home at the time. The crew placed cardboard down throughout the house to protect my hardwood floors. They worked quickly and barely took a break. They took only about 10 minutes for lunch. I wasn't sure why only 3 men were scheduled for the unload when 4 men loaded us up. Throughout the unload, the men continuosuly stated what a poor job the loading crew had done. The unload took a lot longer than I thought it would, taking nearly 8 hours. After the AAA discount was applied (which was forgotten at the time of the transaction and had to be applied later), we ended up spending about $200+ more than originally quoted. I was slightly annoyed about this because Patrick had indicated that the quote was conservative initially. I was especially annoyed because upon unpacking, many boxes that were marked fragile had obviously been dropped, and taped up by crew members (I could tell because there was different tape on the boxes than we used) and many valuables were broken. We had opted to not buy the additional insurance (shame on us) but I thought marking boxes with 'FRAGILE' would indicate that they should be extra careful with them. When I had to email the company to apply the AAA discount, I also addressed Patrick, asking why the quote was more than indicated initially. I also mentioned I was disappointed in the handling of our fragile items, even though I knew we had no recourse. BUT, I was mostly disappointed in the fact that Patrick never responded to my email. I simply wanted to hear why he would tell us something when he knew that it wouldn't necessarily have the outcome that he indicated. Just to make a sale, I guess. I don't know if I expected too much. This was the first time I had ever hired movers to move me, so maybe i would have gotten the same results from another mover, too? I don't plan on moving again anytime soon, but I'm not sure I would recommend Transtar. Overall, it was an OK experience.
Description of Work: Moved our family from NJ to PA, from a 3 bedroom 2000 sq ft home, to a 4 bedroom 3300 sq ft home. Also stored our belongings for 3 nights, with one night being free.
