We’ve used Gikas for over twenty years for exterior and interior painting and deck construction and have always been very impressed with their excellent work. We just used them for the painting of most of the interior of our house, and under the able supervision of project manager Alex - very detail-oriented and a good listener - they did another great job. They were extremely neat and fastidious (kudos to lead painter Darwin in particular) and a pleasure to deal with. We needed an electrician to move a socket, and they got one here in three hours, who worked quickly and carefully. We recommend them highly and will definitely use them again.

Gikas contracting is the most professional contractor I have ever used. Alex, the site manager was on the job the day BEFORE the job was to commence to go over preparation for the job. He was on site the day the job commenced to make sure everything was on schedule as well as every step of the process. The entire job was done not only on time, but ahead of schedule. And true to the Gikas craftsmanship, all the work was done to an exceptional standard. I cannot be more happy with the service and work I received, not only from Gikas Contracting, but from the exceptional management skills of Alex. I highly recommend Gikas Painting and Contracting.

Gikas is really the painting authority in Montclair! Christina and Alex are professional and knowledgeable. They've been working with us for a couple of months preparing for our home exterior paint, from making any necessary repairs to choosing the right colors. The paint crew was amazing and super detailed. They were here on time and worked tirelessly for two solid weeks. We also needed a new balcony and the craftsmanship is impeccable. It has been almost a year since I had my roof replaced and flat roof repaired. They have refused to come back and fix the issues on both the main roof and the flat roof because I foolishly paid them in full, in cash two days before the job was completed. They left the front two dormers on my house a mess on all three sides and they look horrible and will leak sooner than later.

We have been long time customers of Gikas. Many years ago George and his crew painted & did carpentry on the exterior of our home and did a fabulous job. So when our garage sustained damage during Hurricane Isaias in 2020 we turned to Gikas. Kristina and Alex came to the rescue! With their crew the garage was repaired under their supervision to perfection! They were organized, worked quickly and professionally; communicating and responsive through the whole process. We couldn’t have been happier with the outcome. Fast forward to March 2022 when we needed to prepare our home to sell. Kristina was there to walk us through all that needed to be done. With Alex’s supervision and Carlos working morning to night, the house quickly was ready to go to market. We HIGHLY recommend Gikas!!

Amazing work from start to finish. I have hired Gikas before and will continue to hire them again and again. The entire team is incredibly professional and responsive. Alex has always been our foreman on the job, and he's great: can text and call and always get an immediate response, very professional and easy to interface with. Mike was the master carpenter on the job: he's an artist - truly beautiful work with the wainscoting, door and trim molding, staircase refinishing, painting, drywalling, etc. Would recommend the entire team without hesitation.

Estimate was detailed. Roofing job was well done. Niko was there to supervise and ensure perfection. He followed up well and made certain that the grounds were clean after the job was completed. Highly recommend Gikas.

Very prompt and on time. Pablo's crew was very professional and did a great job and cleanup was on the mark. When they left felt the place was spotless. The work was nothing short of amazing. The roof replacement took only one day and once completed Niko made certain the work was perfect but that every nail and piece of debris was carted away. The stucco was repaired, followed by the exterior paint job and gutter and leader replacement. Every aspect of the job was monitored by Niko who was constantly present to address our questions or concerns. Gika's painters were extremely courteous, prompt and professional. The exterior home painting was done thoroughly and details I did not even think of, his painters did! I would not think twice before recommending Gika's. Hernane Vilaca, the manager on the project would visit daily, call or text daily and also just take time to walk around the property and talk with me. He painted samples on my cedar shake so I could take a day or two and decide. Any cedar shake that was rotted or broken - they replaced with new and painted! The work went pretty good and we were amazed how quickly the job got done even with this covid. There is a very good reason you see their signs all over Essex county . We even had plumbing issues and their office manager was already helping us to get it repaired . They exceeded our expectations. Kristina, Peggy , Alex , George are awesome !

We recently hired Gikas Painting & Contracting to perform the following services on our 100 yr old house: exterior painting, wooden window reglazing and new gutter installation. The job was overseen by Hernane Vilaca, our project manager. Under his direction the project proceeded seamlessly. Hernane was always available and responded to emails, texts and phone calls in a timely manner. He stopped by on a daily basis to check on the job's progress. Everyone from Gikas was very professional. Amalia, Gikas color consultant, was extremely helpful in guiding us through our color selection. The painters worked tirelessly. They arrived every day at 8:30 and worked until 6:00. They cleaned up at the end of the day and were very courteous. We couldn't have been happier with the results and have received many compliments. We would use them again without reservation.

We hired Gikas to paint our house that was in disrepair. It was reassuring to know that they are EPA Certifed and they did a great job. Alex came to the house, gave me an estimate. Within a couple of days giving him the go ahead, the installers were at the house. They removed the old gutters and put up the new ones in less than two hours. They were quick, clean and did a very nice job, very satisfied & I would definitely use them again.

We needed our house painted, basement windows replaced, and gutters/downspouts replaced. We selected Gikas because they said they would do it and manage it all and their cost was very reasonable. The painting work was performed well and looks good. We needed special work done on a masonry chimney, which required paint removal and application of a specific waterproofing cementitious product. It was difficult work and outside their comfort zone, but the work was completed within budget and looks good. We had one issue during the chimney paint removal; however, Alex quickly came to the job site, on a Sunday, and assisted in resolving the issue. The basement windows were replaced by one extremely hard working man and they look great. The gutter/downspout replacement was outsourced to another company that was amazingly efficient and worked with us to make a few adjustments to the downspout configurations to prevent future water problems. Overall, everyone was responsive to our requests and worked hard to ensure that we were satisfied with the overall product.

We recently hired Gikas to paint the exterior of our home. The project managers Alex and Olman were very professional and responsive. The painters cleaned up every evening. Amalia whitewashed our bricks with mortar, by hand, and really transformed the look of our home. We are very happy with the finished product and would recommend them to others.

Alex came out and noted what had to be touched up. the workers were there within two days and completed the job. You can count on Gikas for great work and prices charged.

From our 1st meeting to have a consultation with the project manager Hernane, throughout the painting process, and final details, these pros were great to work with, very organized, and take pride in their work. We were so happy with the outcome, the hard working crew, the quality of work and always open to suggestions for our add-on requests. Julio and Johnny did a great job prepping and painting the interior of our home. These two paid good attention to detail - covered everything that wasn't being painted, removed light switch plates etc., prepped surfaces really well, and painted meticulously and yet quickly. We initially hired Gikas to paint the foyer, but when we saw Julio and Johnny's work, we hired them to do the kitchen and living room as well. Alex was a great help with choosing the color, and Hernane stopped by every day to make sure we were happy with the progress. We highly recommend Gikas and are very happy with their work.

He advised I didn't need the large repair I though, instead I should just seal and boot a vent pipe that was above the tie-in. he saved me a bunch of money on a needless repair by being very honest. would definitely hire him in the future, if I need work done.

Gikas did a great job painting the exterior of our house with some additional minor work replacing shingles and repairing masonry. The contract was detailed and the work done according to the contract. All questions were addressed in a timely fashion and work done according to specifications.

From the estimate to the finished job, Gikas Painting could not have been more professional and attentive. There is good reason George Mihalis (owner) has been so successful and well thought of for many years. Gikas Painting was recommended to be by a co-worker and I could not be more pleased. They painted EVERY room in my house. They always arrived on time, cleaned up after themselves, and the job turned out great. They replaced several lighting fixtures too. Unfortunately, one of my new living room high hats pulled slightly away from the ceiling after roofing work was done. My ceilings are quiet high, but George himself returned (2 weeks after my painting job was completed) with his very tall ladder to push it back into place. And... He didn't charge me a penny more. Customer service to Gikas is as important as the quality of their work. If you can book them for your next job, DON'T wait. I will definitely be using them for all of my home improvement needs.
