Gikas Painting, Roofing and Restoration

After 3 attempts to contact the contractor, I had to give up trying and move on to another.

My husband and I purchased our home in Montclair in 2017. It was a fixer upper nightmare. With this being said, we went through 4 contractors before contacting Gikas Painting & Contracting. After going through so many contractors, it became very hard to trust anyone to complete the job. We had things to complete such as painting, front porch and back deck. George came through, gave us a reasonable price and was able to complete the project. He was very efficient, reliable, professional and kind. Like all general contractors, they subcontract the work out however he would always make sure the workers was there doing what they were suppose to do. The project was completed in a timely manner and we are very satisfied with the paint job and love the way the front porch and back deck turned out. We would recommend him to anyone.

George and his team were really helpful and responsive. Diego the painter was good and finished his job as promised!

Each room turned out excellent. The walls which had lots of old peeling paint and some cracks turned out amazing. We had several holes in the wall from electric work and adding lights. You would never know the walls were in such poor condition. The colors and paint job turned out great. The rooms look brand new. The job was professionally done and loved the results. We would hire them again.

I never received a response from Gikas. It seems to me it would be relatively easy for a "professional" to send me a message saying "I'm not interested in this job" rather than ignore me. If there was a reason they didn't reply, they should have told me rather than just ignore me. How many people enjoy being ignored?

George and Christina are super attentive, answer text messages and return our phone calls within 24 hours. I adore the staff they have, hardworking crew, polite, and clean up well. It’s the same people on the job. A++++ for the quality of work.

George came out quickly to examine the job, gave me a price quote right away, responded to questions by text promptly and work began as soon as weather permitted. It was completely as promised and the quality of painting was excellent. Even touched a couple additional spots found adjacent to job graciously and gratuitously. Very happy to have done this, to have contacted Ginkas and have gotten it done so effortlessly. Very atypical these days.

The project was performed with a degree of professionalism. We were in a bit of a bind as we were under tremendous deadline to sell the house but George and his guy Angel delivered with flying colors. I highly recommend this company for their excellent work and craftsmanship. Thank you guys!

They never got back to me with a proposal. I had to call them severl times to eeven get a response. Then NOTHING. I have selected a different provider.

MR. GIKAS, Met with me to give me an estimate on painting the Tudor Trim on my Tudor Home. We walked around the home and went over the areas that were the most in need of attention due to sun exposure and age. I explained that I wanted to achieve a paint job and had a budget, if needed replacement of old trim in lieu of time spent sanding, sealing et al. He said that the only way to property paint my home would require 6 weeks labor, extensive sanding to the Bones. His quote was astronomical after meeting with 4 additional painters.

I was finally ready to pretty up the exterior of my little 1910 dutch colonial. The only company I wanted to do this was Gikas. Having seen their work around local neighborhoods for the past 15 years, there was no other choice for me. Alex did not disappoint - he gave a very fair quote and suggested some very inexpensive additional carpentry (to visually balance my front porch), recommended restoring my original front door (which I would have thought was impossible), was very knowledgeable on old houses, and was able to give me a start and end date that they actually met. The team arrived early every morning and were still working away when I got home from work, Diego and team were pleasant and professional and cleaned up at the end of every day. The job involved included removing aluminum siding and restoring the shingles and clapboard. The carpenter was a master of the craft. My house looks spectacular. I could not be more pleased. Price, quality, responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism 5 stars across the board.

George and his team were an absolute pleasure to work with. From the very beginning George gave me a very fair quote and was able to provide excellent suggestions on how to go about transforming our old Victorian back to life without any unnecessary up-sell. The entire Gikas team-from the color coordinator, painters, carpenters, and foreman made a what could have been a stressful renovation a very smooth job. I couldn't be happier!

Gikas was the first out of 4 estimates I received for painting our Cape style home. We got a swifty response- best price and worked with us on the details of the estimate which included carpentry and masonry work. The paint consultation was a plus. It was a great help for choosing colors. The consultant came by, helped us pick out colors and painted some swatches on the house in different locations so we could see the paint in the sun and the shade. She brought up many points about colors that we would not have thought of on our own. The job started promptly on the agreed upon date. The workers were friendly, professional, showed up on time and cleaned up every day. The end result was a fantastically painted new home! We are very pleased with the quality of the work done. One piece of advice- be sure the job is to your liking before the crew is finished and you do your last walk through- having them come back to make any adjustments took quite a while.

I guess they must be doing well. Came to our home just provide a quote for interior painting, refinishing floors and other work required and 3 weeks later, we don’t have a quote after leaving various messages. George must be doing very well indeed....

From the first call to the end of the project the customer focus was excellent. The day I called for an estimate Hernane called and scheduled an appointment for an estimate. I explained I only had a certain week open and he went out of his way to accommodate me. Hermane arrived with Julio and Jonny who would do the painting. Julie and Jonny did and excellent job they corrected things I didn't expect (walls and woodwork). They were very careful and respectful of my home. During the time they were here Hermane came back a number of times during the day to check on the progress and make sure I was happy with the work being done. This company is very customer focused and the end result was all I envisioned and more.

Gikas did a wonderful job. They were on professional, very responsive to messages and reasonably priced. I would definitely hire them again.

George and his men did a fine job. Everything went well and there were no issues. Would work with them again.

The owner said he would visit my home and provide a quote. This was in October. I am still waiting for the quote.

They did a fantastic job repainting our home. Although we had been given paint samples to try, I was still a bit nervous about how the color would look as we opted to go with a slate blue with white trim. Our house was previously a muted light green so it was a drastic change. Hernane was the project supervisor. He was detailed and responsive: making sure to consistently follow up if there were any changes or updates, and answered all my questions. This boosted my confidence in their ability to do the job beautifully and they did not disappoint! I love our house and I highly recommend these guys.

George is very responsive, informative and prompt. Unfortunately, once we started, it was obvious to him that there was moisture coming in from the patio above the garage and that it didn't make sense to proceed until the source of the issue was fixed. He was very helpful in trying to pinpoint someone who could help. We will be reaching out to him for additional services in the future.

No call no show for the estimate. Called once after waiting for an hour. Was told they would reach out to the person scheduled. Waited another 45 minutes. Called and cancelled. A courtesy call would have been fine as it's understandable that people run late.

George and his team were absolute professionals. We bought a house that was a potential knock down and George came in and worked some magic. Gave good feedback, suggestions for what changes to make and which ones not to make. Took care of little things without nickel or diming me. His crews were professional and left the site clean when they were done.

The job went well from start to finish. The manager with whom I dealt, Hernane, was responsive and professional at all times. We were on a tight timeline since we had about three weeks before we needed to move in to our new house, and all of the work was done well and on time. Even after the bulk of the work was done, when there were details that required follow up, Hernane was quite responsive. We would definitely hire again!
