Description of Work: Started off a little bumpy, trying to get the work scheduled after the estimate was frustrating. But then they assigned Alex as our project supervisor and things turned around. He came by and made recommendations and a guideline on how the work would go. When the painters came, he came with them bringing the paint and giving them instructions. He also stopped by on a near daily basis to check on the status and make sure we were happy with the results. The painters were also really great. We had a mess of cracked plaster walls in one room and now it’s the best looking room in the house. Wouldn’t hesitate to hire again.

Description of Work: We had two jobs done. On a house we were selling, Gikas replaced the cedar shakes on one side and repaired other spots, than painted the entire house. It turned out fantastic! Amalia helped with the color selections to enhance the saleability of the house and George and his crew were very professional and courteous. The work was done very well. (The house sold in 4 days). When we needed interior painting on the new house, we called Gikas. Hernane Vilaca oversaw this project and was excellent to work with. He was responsive and really looked out for our needs. We had a couple of things come up that were unforeseen and he handled them for us well. Both projects were done on time and budget. We would definitely recommend Gikas for both interior and exterior jobs.

Description of Work: We called for an estimate and he was 1 hour and 45 minutes late. He did call about 15 minutes before he arrived. The estimate we were given was double the amounts of the other two estimates we got. Ours is an easy job, problem is one side of our house is three stories high.

Description of Work: I can't say enough about the amazing work that Gikas contracting provided for us. Our porch was falling down and George gave us options to fit our budget. We eventually had them remove the old porch and replace it with a porch that runs the length of our house. Our house was built in 1904 and they built the new porch so that it looks like it was always there. It is seemless and perfect. The details and craftsmanship are impeccable, from the woodwork to the paint detailing. I highly recommend Gikas contracting.

Description of Work: They painted the kitchen, staircase, and upstairs bedroom. The work took approximately 5 days. The kitchen and hallway were done first in 3.5 days and came out great! The bedroom was done on the last 1.5 days and it was a very obvious rush job. They painted over decorative hinges, wires, etc. No tape was used to separate the trim from the walls and there is excessive wall paint on the trim. It literally was like I had 2 different painters.

Description of Work: Painted whole recently gutted kitchen area including wainscoting and half bath. Did one coat which was sufficient. Came back the following day for touch ups and finish coat in spots. Only problem was that they missed a spot in the half bath. Painters were respectful punctual timely and clean. Would us again

+ -1 moreThe work started sooner than promised and the main part of the project (roof) was done from demo. to new roof in a day. The remaining work took an additional 10 days and was done right. The time frame was not an issue because there was no detrimental issues related to it. The only issue I had was that the attic was a mess due to taking off the old roof and I had to clean that up. I wish I would have known before the work started because I could have made preparations for cleaning.
Description of Work: Fixed roof damage caused by tree falling on roof: New roof on back half of house, new gutters, carpentry work on eve and side of house.

+ -1 moreThey came right in with the estimate they gave us. They were very respectful of our home, actually using a magnet to ensure all the nails were picked up after they were done. The men that came were prompt, courteous, and very efficient. I highly recommend them and will use them again when and if I ever have to.
Description of Work: They took off the old shingles on our roof, which covers our 3000 square foot home, checked for any damage, found none, and then replaced the shingles with brand new asphalt shingles. This took them a total of 4 days to complete and all used material and refuge was hauled away by them after they were finished.

+ -1 moreCalled Geikas based on some lawn signs on some homes in Montclair. Left a message. Got a call back that night and was impressed with the owner's enthusiasm and quick response on the phone. Set a date and time to look at the work, he never showed. Called 3 times after that, left 3 messages and am still waiting for a response.
Description of Work: The work would have been to replace some wooden beadboard soffits and paint them.
