See above -looking at the other reviews I'm going to stay clear. Thanks Angies's list!
Description of Work: Absolutely nothing; Never received a quote although I phone twice looking for it. They gave me some story about 3rd party insurance and I was going to need to load up heavy on this so they weren't responsible.

We had a terrible experience with this company. We originally recieved a quote of $3100.00 which as indicated was to include moving our things from our home, into storage (which is advertised as "free" for three months) and having our things moved into our new home. The move out of our home went well. The movers were efficient, although I did not like how they walked all over my area rugs even after the furniture was removed. After our move into storage we received a bill for $1000.00 for materials used ($25 for a box to pack a mirror, $50 for a large box, bubble wrap etc) and labor for packing the few things in the basement. On July 17th I called to confirm our redelivery and spoke with Bill. When I told Bill we wanted our things delivered August 5th, he said it was no problem and that I should "just call about 3 days before" so his guys can load the truck . When I asked about what charges to anticipate he said bluntly "it's $3,000.00 in and $3,000.00 out!" I was shocked! The original estimate was $3100.00 and that included a redelievery charge, now he was doubling it! When I told him that this was not what on my original estimate he became irate and yelled over the phone "listen lady, I don't know who you are and what you have in storage, I have to look at your file and call you back!" He didn't call me back. I called back two days later and spoke with Cal, when I asked him to confirm our redelivery cost he said "you have to talk with Bill, he's the money guy." On July 23rd, I called to confirm our move in date, again I spoke with Bill. When I said we wanted to move in on August 5th he said "that was impossible, they were too busy". When I told him that in our last conversation he said I had to call back three days prior he yelled "those words would have NEVER come out of my mouth!" again he was angry and irate. I asked when we could have our things moved and he replied "You won't like it" and gave us a date four days later. I calmly agreed and asked him to book it. My husband called back to discuss the $3100.00 redelivery fee and spoke to Bill. Bill started off my telling my husband that I had yelled at him (which I had not) in our previous conversation, but when my husband asked about the redelivery cost and why Bill was doubling our original esitmate Bill again became irate and shouted to my husband about "overtime costs and truck costs!". We didn't understand why Friday was considered "overtime". My husband was calm, but Bill was automatically furious for being questioned, he then demanded that we "had to" pay in cash and even demanded that my husband would have to "show up in person and pay cash to him directly". My husband said he would not do that and agreed to pay cash upon delivery...on the day of delivery, the men showed up on time. Money was given before anything was moved out of the truck. After delievery of our items I found damage to several pieces of furniture and appliances: dents on the front door of our new refrigerator, damage to the wood on the front of our dining room buffet, one of the legs on our sofa was bent, doors on our entertainment center do not close as easily as they did before and stains on a large area rug. Although we paid for additional insurance, to place a claim with Gibralter's insurance will cost an additional $250.00 deductable. Dealing with this company was extremly stressful and expensive and we will not be doing business with them again.

I am a prior customer (moved on 6/2/2012) and was happy with their service so I decided to call them again. I spoke with Cal several weeks prior to the move and he quoted me the same price that I paid last year (even though I had half as many items) as he stated that it was the minimum for 4.5 hour and that was their minimum charge. I was not sure when my new home would be ready so I told him I would call back. When I called back, I get Bill (the owner) and he quotes me $200 more than what I was quoted two weeks ago! He stated that it was impossible to get such a low quote for the month of June. I told him I had my receipt from the prior move and that it was also on a weekend. He said, it didn't matter. He was rude and unwilling to listen to reason. Unethical sales/customer practices. Too bad the owner is so greedy, the movers are great and he would have way more business if he took care of his existing customers.

Two individuals from the company, including the owner, gave us "worst case" estimates for the move of between $5k and $7k. We were in a bind and needed to move quickly (we had just closed on a new house and needed to vacate rental as our lease was expiring) and they knew all of the details upfront. After the move was in process (i.e., our stuff was on the truck), the owner tells us it is looking like $11k or more. We finally "negotiate" to $9,500. What are you supposed to do once your belongings are on the truck? We have not had great experiences with movers, but this was unbelievable. Two guys with combined experience of 70 years give "worst case" estimates and then tell us the cost is more than 50%-100% above these estimates.

The owner charged us an additional $5000 after we already signed a contract for $10000. I would be warry of their price quotes. Storage is not exactly free if you end up paying an additional 1/3rd of the move.

they are reasonably pleasant until they have your goods then rude and generally unpleasant.
Description of Work: gibralter did a small move of a few pieces of furniture from NJ to FL. as with the other reviewer said they did deliver all the items in good condition, well wrapped. however the final price was 25% over the estimate, due in part to a last minute doubling of a 'fuel surcharge", claiming there had been a spike in fuel prices, even tho I confirmed the estimate the day prior. when questioned about this they immediately became surly and argumentative. they were about 5 hours late picking up and gouged a wall taking one item out of the house. independent movers are a quirky lot but there have to be better operators than these guys.

The only positive thing I can say is that my stuff got to it's destination. I would recommend using Prudential Van Lines in this area - they were great to work with, good prices, and very professional. Look 'em up!
Description of Work: I moved from a small single bedroom apartment to another like it, which was not more that 2 miles down the road. The men showed up on time, and did work strait through, but I didn't really like this service for 3 reasons: 1-the men weren't all that professional. the foreman made a lot of sarcastic remarks to me, which i didn't appreciate. I had everything ready for them - they didn't even need to box stuff for me. their behavior was very unprofessional. 2-they asked me for part of the money up front, and the rest when we got to the destination address, which I've read a reputable mover shouldn't do.3-I just moved again, and got a much lower price for another move, which required pick up from 2 different locations, and almost twice as much stuff.

Overall the move went well and everything arrived safely to my new place. I was little disappointed to find out about all the extra charges to wrap things properly in preparation for the move (i.e. TVs, glass tables, sofa). In my opinion, some things are just a given that you would need to wrap them in order to move them safely, which I thought was included, but it was extra. Overall I ended up spending about $200 more than the estimate. The movers arrived on time, were friendly and knew what they were doing. They could have unloaded a little quicker, but when you are paying by the hour I guess this is to be expected. Before the move the company was great about dropping off free boxes, since I was packing my own things.

They are super efficient and they gave us an estimate before they did the work. Everything was moved safely and nothing was damaged. They have small and large trucks and they have lots of options. They are a warehouse company.
Description of Work: They moved our entire house about five or six miles away from our previous home. They packed everything for us.
