Highest customer reviewed "plumber near me" in Cape May County! Frank Majewski has been in the plumbing business for 30+ years, and frankly, we're the best in the field. We specialize in all phases of plumbing: from new or custom plumbing construction, repairs and renovations. Having a background degree in micro-computer technology has granted Frank a unique curve with smart-home technology - particularly with the Smart Plumbing tech LeakSmart. We have become experts in our trade, using premium grade equipment with the finest attention to detail during installs. We can then outfit your home to be completely smart home enabled, making your entire house voice activated, so you could even say "Alexa, turn my shower on." There's a reason we're the #1 rated plumber in Cape May County!

"We hired the company to install a kit and descale our hot water heater. Techs showed up and seemed angry at how much work had to be done and the fact they forgot to bring a descaling kit. Techs never responded to questions during the process nor did they go over the work that was done. It was uncomfortable to have them in our house. After we contacted the owner “Frank” about the experience he informed us his brother in law was on the job and he didn’t need to listen to anymore from us. He said he has been in business for 21 years and didn’t need our business. It was truly shocking and we would strongly encourage anyone and everyone to avoid this company."

Preferred Water Treatment (PWT), located in Paulsboro, New Jersey, has been serving families and businesses for almost a decade. Millions of Americans purchase bottled drinking water to avoid the risk of contaminants in their water at home. However, bottled drinking water has also been linked to other medical problems. Preferred Water Treatment offers a complete line of water treatment equipment such as reverse osmosis systems, which can eliminate the contaminants in your drinking water. We specialize in removing iron, iron bacteria and the sulfur smell, which is a by-product of the iron/sulfur bacteria, from your water. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention notes that although people may think drinking water supplies are safe, these water supplies can become contaminated and cause sickness from waterborne germs, such as Cryptosporidium, E. Coli, Hepatitis A, Giardia intestinalis, and other pathogens. Researchers have discovered that Psoriasis, Eczema, and Acne are associated with contaminants such as chlorine and other by-products in household water. PWT can remove these impurities, giving your body the kind of water that you need and deserve. Granted, one of the most important substances in your body is water, and nothing is more important than you and your family’s health. So invest and protect it.

"Hudson did a great job. He and his associate were very professional and the water is incredible! I recommend Hudson and his team to my friends and wish I had done this sooner."

"Horrible sloppy work! Don came out and told me I needed a new sump pump because Radon was run into my current sump pump. Told me the sump pump he installed would drain outside into my drain spout. I approved work and when sump pump was installed they did not run it where they stated because the wall was thick concrete (should have known before). As a result they ran the pipes from the sump pump in the air and drilled a hole through the outside of my house. They did not secure the pipes properly and did not use the proper joints. Loud banging noise kept me and my neighbors up all night! Don came back out and agreed job was sloppy and he would fix it. Suggested running pipes from new sump pump into my current sump pump that he previously said we couldn't use!!! I pointed out to him that workers did not use the negative air which was promised, hence my basement was covered in dust, pipes were dangling, and outside stone landscaping and wall were in disorder from worker trying to drill through foundation wall. Pipes are now run across ground (eye sore), joints are still wrong and leaked. I was told I would have money refunded which I have been pursuing for over 2 months. Don, owner is rude, arrogant and hot headed! So much more went wrong!"

Water softener services FAQs

The license requirements for water softener installation depend on your location. Some municipalities require that the installer hold a plumbing license, some require a permit and an inspection, but no license for the installer, and some require a permit and a license for the installer. Regardless of the local laws in your area, it’s always a good idea to hire a licensed plumber or installer. These pros will install your system properly and have the experience to size the system appropriately. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to check your installer’s license status.

The cost to install a water softener system is $1,500 on average, ranging between $200 and $6,000. The labor for water softener work typically costs between $150 and $1,000, so you can add that to your equipment costs to get an accurate total. Your price will depend on many factors, including the following:

  • System capacity

  • Home size

  • Water hardness levels

  • Type of water softener

  • Presence of electricity in the installation area

  • Local permit costs

Water softeners are worth the money if you live in an area with hard water. Hard water is safe to drink, but it poses serious threats to your plumbing system. The minerals in hard water will gradually build up on the inside walls of your pipes, reducing water flow to your fixtures. The minerals can also gradually corrode your plumbing system, reduce its lifespan, and increase the risk of leaks. Hard water also makes soap and detergent less effective. Water softener systems can solve all these issues, making them a great investment.

It’s possible to install a water softener yourself, but we don’t recommend it. Water softeners require working with copper pipes and electrical wiring, neither are suitable tasks for most DIYers. Plus, working with water and electricity together is dangerous and could pose a risk to your safety. Water softeners also need to be calibrated so that they don’t make your water too soft, as soft water poses just as many risks as hard water. Overall, it’s well worth hiring a local water softener installer to place your water softener system.

Your water softener size is based on your total household water consumption. In most cases, you can assume the average household member will use around 75 gallons per day. Multiply that by the number of people in your home, then multiply by 10 (for the typical grains per gallon). You’ll get a number in grains that should help roughly size your water softener. However, it’s best to hire a professional to install your system and use more exact numbers, like your exact average water consumption per day and starting water hardness.
