They were punctual and professional. There was an A.C. duct that went into my attic and got hot, and then water dripped to my basement down that hot duct. They insulated the duct work in the hot attic, and there has been no further leak. The second leak was from a cracked pipe in the ceiling of my basement, and that pipe carried water flushed from my toilet out to the sewer. The dripping from this crack made the basement ceiling tile turn black from mold and made the duct-work get rusty. They found the crack and replaced the cracked section, and there has been no further leak.
Description of Work: They found the source of two different leaks and fixed both problems.

Sent a new tech to install the parts who than diagnosed the problem correctly but had to put everything back together..They charged me a WHOPPING $888.23 ..65 for parts and $750 for labor . It took them 3 weeks to fix the problem........ this is my first and last time i will ever use Angie list....... stay away from this company...

I would like to explain that our company did not install the system in the first place, We looked at the system tested them the owner told me that they worked for 2 weeks and then stopped. According to what I found the compressors were bad and I had to order them from the manufacture. My supply house did not sell the equipment so they did not have to cover the warranty on the equipment. Since I do alot of business with my supply house the honored the warranty of the units. The client hired the correct company in the first place that was trained on the installation of the system he would not have had this problem in the first place. We have put over 200 Mitsubishi systems in the past 3 years and not yet have we had a problem with out installs. I am sorry that this person left like he was not taken care of properly he should have went back to the compnay that installed in in the first place. From my understanding he has had a few companies out there to try and figure out the problem and could not. We figured the problem out corrected and we only charged him for the time we were there. The final cost for the service was less than $850.00 for over 10 hours of service. I am not against anyone trying to save money but hire the right company in the first place and you will not have these problems of having another company to come in and figure out the issue. The client was not charged for the one compressor that had to be replaced due to being not installed right in the first place. I am sorry he feels this way but he in now cool and the systems are working properly.

First time I called with a problem I thought problem was with the thermostat. Stan immediately identified as defect relay instead. He was absolutely correct. He provided Quick, accurate diagnosis. And Quick accurate fix. Very reasonable price. Second time I called on another problem but I pretty much was sure what it was. Stan confirmed and quickly replaced unit. Again very reasonable price. Stan at Top Notch knows what he is doing. Great. I'd call again.

We had several contractors out to bid for the job. Dave the owner came to give his estimate, and from first contact we could tell he was a true professional. He measured each space and gave his recommendation. Once hired, Dave stayed in constant contact with us. His company took care of the permits required and scheduled the job at our convenience. On day of install, they arrived at time scheduled and the job took most of the day. Very courteous throughout the install and very clean. Our overall experience with Dave and company was excellent. We are going to have them back to service our heater in the fall.

I had a 15-16 year old central AC that just gave up and died. I needed a new one. I had someone come to give a free estimate and said my compressor was dead and I needed a new one. I called several AC companies for an estimate. Some seemed too good to be true, where they promised me a new condenser unit with my old coil (same energy efficiency level) for around $2000. But they were not giving me a good vibe and didn't seem like I could really get this price as nothing was put on paper. Other companies came and gave me quotes on a new AC unit and coil but never looked at my old one to see if that's really the problem. Then Top Notch came, examined the AC unit I had (even work booties when they came inside me house so as not to dirty the floors), told me that I indeed needed a new AC condenser, but that my coil was fine so it didn't need to replace it immediately. They gave me a few options of what I could purchase, and warranties for each one, all on written contracts. Also they have a stand alone office downtown that I could find them in if I had any questions or issues. They had a good reputation around town so I hired them. I was glad they did.
Description of Work: Advised on the appropriate product for the size of my home, and compared the energy efficiencies that would be best vs total cost. Examined the compressor, and the coil of the AC, and connected everything in a timely and neat fashion. The provider was very knowledgeable, polite, punctual and professional. Would respond to all my emails in a timely and professional manner. Excellent service provided.

This is the second time we've used this company. The first time it was for the furnace humidifier, which was diagnosed and fixed immediately. Other companies were quoting much higher prices to replace the humidifier, which just required a part. The second time, we called them for a plumbing problem--since they now also do plumbing--a leak under the recently installed kitchen sink. The entire kitchen was remodeled just a month ago. The plumber determined what caused the leak, fixed it, and also made some good suggestions, describing this as "Plumbing 101." We have been extremely satisfied with this company, which is so close-by, and will continue to use them whenever necessary.

My air conditioner was only 2 1/2 years old. It's on the second floor, right above my diningroom. Water started dripping through my ceiling. It was very difficult to find the source or reason for the leak. The owner of the company that installed the unit told me to cut a hole in the ceiling so he could see the problem. He never came back. Now I had a 3'x5' hole in the ceiling. 2 other companies came before I called Top Notch. Neither seemed to want to deal with the problem. I, however, had this big hole in my ceiling with water dripping into buckets. Finally, out of desperation, I joined Angie's list and found Top Notch. Al came, thought he found the problem, and charged me $126. Unfortunatley, a few days later, the drip began again. I called and, now, Dave, the owner came himself. He investigated this very mysterious leak and spent a good deal of time in my house. He would not charge me again because he said they should have fixed the problem the first time. The leak persisted. I understand why the other 2 companies didn't want to tackle this problem. Al came back at least 4 more times before the leak was totally gone. Top Notch, good-naturedly persisted and dealt with this problem until they succeeded. THEY NEVER CHARGED ME ANOTHER PENNY and never made me feel uncomfortable about calling. This is a totally professional company and I would, and have, recommended them to friends and family. They will now be my go-to company if I have any air-conditioning, heating or plumbing problem. Thank goodness for Top Notch and Angie's List.

I requested for multiple bids on the job to replace my furnace and air conditioning units. Top Notch was the only company that measured all the rooms and made a load calculation. This was recommended on the web by others, so I chose this contractor which also had competitive prices. They provided a quote within two days, They also filled out the paperwork for my township permits. The job was completed within 2 weeks after we finalized the deal. Top Notch completed the work within 1 day, and everything was perfect. All connections were solid and tight. This was a real professional job and I would highly recommend then.

We have made several calls to get in touch with [Member's name removed] to explain. The $225 bill is correct. What we installed for her was a t8000 touch pad thermostat worth $125 our cost. To drive over to the house, install the thermostat, and warranty it for a year seems extremely reasonable to us. Hopefully after reading this she will contact us back to discuss this further.

It went fine. Stan answered all my questions. The repair and technician were prompt and Stan even came back himself on a Saturday to install the blower motor! Extremely satisfied!
Description of Work: Stan replaced the blower motor on my roof top air conditioner (installed outside the house). I was very pleased with the patience with which he answered my questions. I was concerned about the age of the unit and its remaining life. Stan did not try to sell me on repairing the unit. He just gave me the answers to my questions and let me decide if I wanted / could afford the repair or if I should think about buying another unit. For the type of unit I have - a roof top package unit - self contained, 1/2 hp, I decided to go ahead. The blower motor was unique to this unit and had a bracket welded to the motor. Online similar blower motors sold retail for 425.00 - 485.00 so for the initial visit / diagnostic, blower motor and installation, I felt that the price was extremely fair. The cost of the service was 594.50 and tax was 41.60 for a total of cost 636.11. Thanks Stan!

As the warm weather started up, we became aware that the house was not being cooled properly. We have two units. Discovered that the downstairs unit was not functioning. Hired Top Notch based on AL reviews. Tech came promptly, as scheduled, and found that a wire connection from the house to the 25 yr old outside AC unit had broken and repaired it. Charged only the basic cost of the visit. Also checked for coolant leaks in the system. We appreciated the honesty. The tech might well have told us we needed a new WHATEVER. We had such an experience years ago with other repair services that replaced items that were OK.

We have had several instances of the mini split units spilling large amounts of water out of the unit and down the inside wall. Being that the mini split units are expensive I was hesitant to attempt to take the apart to see what the issue could be. After looking around for a good technician I found Top Notch with high ratings on Angies List. I contacted the company (whose office worker was extremely friendly and accommodating) and made an appointment. Al arrived right on time and was quick to get to work. Very knowledgeable and willing to explain what he was doing each step of the way. He even pointed out action steps that I could take to keep the mini splits running in good working order. Price was very reasonable and the service was excellent all around. I would definitely recommend this company.

The service man came early! He diagnosed the problem in five minutes, replaced the capacitor and got the A/C back on in half an hour. He was cheerful and professional in 92 degree heat. The service itself could not have been better, and the cost for the service was reasonable. After he left I checked the price of the part online. I may be naive but I believe the price I was charged for the part was rather steep and that is disappointing.

I am a first time home owner. When I woke up early Saturday and found my air conditioner wouldn't run I panicked. I called exactly at 7:30 when they said they would be open. The man I spoke with was extremely helpful. Not only was he willing to come that day he wanted to make sure I really did have a problem first before someone came out and I had to pay for services. It turned out there was a simple solution to the problem I was having. He took the time to walk me through what needed to be done. I really appreciated the time he spent helping me. I wouldn't hesitate to call them in the future. I am grateful there are still honest repairmen in the world.

I called Top Notch Climate Control on July 8 to make an appointment for someone to come to look at my attic fan which had stopped working. This fan takes the hot air out of the attic and helps the central air conditioning work more efficiently. I was happily surprised when I was told that Dave would be at my house on July 9 between 8:00 - 12:00. At the stroke of 8:00 Dave was ringing my doorbell. He quickly assessed the problem and said it was the motor of the attic fan that needed to be replaced. Dave went to the supply house, got the replacement, returned and installed it and was completely finished by 9:30 a.m. I was impressed with the punctuality, professionalism and efficiency of Dave and Top Notch, and I highly recommend them.

Top Notch Climate Control was excellent and the definition of professionalism. We wish we had multiple HVAC systems so that we could hire the company again! The company finished the job on time with no additional costs. The project they took on was not a standard job and required a lot of skill, which they completed for $2,000 less than other companies quotes. I cannot recommend them more highly. We have a small condo with a 30 year old HVAC system (with duct work) located in our bathroom ceiling. When parts of the system started to break, we began looking at estimates to replace the system. Since we had ample time to discuss options and it?s a really unique set-up, I discussed the project with five different companies (only 4 actually came to look at it). As way of describing what a difficult job it was, after seeing it, one company wouldn?t even give me quote and another wouldn?t come see it at all without committing to $300 to open up the ceiling. Over about 6 months, Stan (Top Notch Climate Control) came to our house three different times to talk through options with us. The slow time frame was a result of our decision; not at all that the company was slow. He provided explanations for several different systems and described pros and cons of each. Stan took the time to work through different possibilities with us, which none of the other companies did. The job had the potential to involve a crane. Stan came to our house a third time to meet with the crane company while I was at work. During the job itself, Stan and his crew started on the day we had scheduled with them. They finished the job in the exact time frame quoted to us, with no additional costs. After each work day, they completely cleaned up so in the evening we couldn?t even tell a job was being completed. Stan even made a slight change to the design that preserved a good amount of storage space for me! Since we were at work when the job was finished, Stan came on a Saturday morning to meet with us and describe the specifics of the system. The last step is to finish up the inspection with the city (our city is very slow to schedule these- not Top Notch?s fault)- with no additional cost to us, a Top Notch employee will handle the inspection. Other companies I?ve worked with in the past have quoted an hourly rate to be there all day for the inspection (the city schedules only a day, not a time). We?ve only run the air conditioning so far (since it is warm weather season) and the system is great!
Description of Work: Top Notch Climate Control replaced the 30 year old gas heat/ electric AC unit that was located in the ceiling of our bathroom with a new electric heat pump unit located in our closet (gas heat couldn’t be used without a substantial amount of work to re-vent our condo). This required closing the gas lines and moving both plumbing and electrical. The work included replacing and running lines from the air compressor located on the roof of our 4 story building to our unit on the 2nd floor. The original system was designed for a trailer, not for a condo, so nothing about it was standard. They completed the job for $2,000 less than other companies quoted. Top Notch Climate Control was excellent and the definition of professionalism.

My wife and I bought an old house with much character and an ancient steam boiler that badly needed replacing. We called in Stan from Top Notch Climate Control and were highly impressed from start to finish. Stan is very professional and polite. He is dependable, prompt, reliable, and hard working. He does an incredible job with no hassles and for a very fair price. I can say the same for the other members of his crew though I have now forgotten their names. Each gentleman wore protective shoe coverings while in our home and they cleaned up after themselves. In fact, I had expected to need to do some additional vacuuming after the job was completed, but there was not a speck of debris to vacuum. Top Notch installed a high-efficiency boiler in our home. It was one of the best models available on the market and we have been quite pleased with the MUCH lower heating bills since! The installation was done correctly and competently. They could have taken some shortcuts but did not do so. Stan and his colleagues do it the professional way, the right way. Stan did not try to sell us additional equipment or systems that we did not need. I probably would have purchased new radiators from him, but he told me we did not need them. Every interaction with Stan and his colleagues was pleasant. He returns phone calls and emails promptly. He provides a written and detailed estimate. He makes sure the permit issue is painless for the homeowner. Top Notch provided this service to us for a fair price. His estimate was not the lowest nor the highest that we received. However, we cannot imagine being happier. We will be calling Top Notch again when we install central air conditioning into our home! Thanks so much, Stan!

Whole process, from the first contact to the finishing work acceptance, was smooth, quick and very professional. Free estimate was done over weekend and door bell was ringing on time for the appointment. We get detailed information about product and the installation process. Dave, the company owner, took care of getting permit from Verona Township and when it was rejected on the first attempt he came to us (over weekend again!!!) and discussed the possibilities. Finally, permit was issued and installation date was scheduled. All work was done in two days. You would never say that there is a construction going on in the house, so clean and accurate everything was maintained. The only misplaced house items showed that something is going on in the house. The inspector from the township said that for all years he's inspecting this type of work he has never seen such perfect siding installation as it was done on our house. I put 'B' for the price. It was astronomical number for us, but I know perfectly well that nothing good comes cheap. And this work was not just good, it was brilliant work by the 'Top Notch Climate Control LLC"!!! This is how the ideal construction company supposed to work. Thank you.
