 + 0 moreRemoved pellet stove insert and duct. Told us we needed a chimney cap, and gave estimate of about $800-$900. Received another estimate for $600 for two caps and chimney repair. So I felt like it was a bait and switch.

 + 0 moreThe guys arrived promptly and appeared to be well equipped and knew what they were doing. We had our fireplace chimney cleaned and inspected. I also requested that our dryer vent and gas furnace flue be cleaned. They worked professionally and carefully, putting on paper booties and throwing down drop sheets to protect the hardwood floors.To be honest though, I thought that the services were a bit over priced. Adding on the cleaning of our gas furnace flue and10 inch long dryer vent each set us back 75 dollars for less than 10 minutes work. Another point is their advice that I should get my fireplace flue checked after each cord of wood burned. Perhaps this is a good practice if you are burning wet soft woods like pine or spruce or unseasoned hard-woods. I have actually built numerous masonry fireplaces in my younger days and have heated exclusively with wood when we lived in Canada. I sincerely feel that cleaning the flue is only necessary after burning at least four cords of seasoned hardwood. We had burned 8 cords over a period of four years and noticed that during the cleaning, very little creosote had come down. In retrospect we were left with a bit of a bad taste from the pricing and cleaning frequency advice

 + -1 moreHonestly, I have no idea what these gentlemen did after they wheeled in equipment. It was SO fast that I don't know how a good job was done performing ANY service. I have a register that now has damaged flex duct (may or may not be from the service rendered, but I don't think it waa slike that before)... and, to be blunt, I was under the impression that this was an involved, specialty, upgraded cleaning service, NOT just a giant vacuum. The ad itself even said it was a BRUSH cleaning, correct?...with camera proof in the advertisement. Any which way you cut, the guys were nice and polite, but I would never pay again for a job after which I can't see results if it takes them MINUTES to complete... after paying for a deal that claims a total ductwork cleaning and upgraded brush sweep was the product being bought. It's physically impossible that this was performed as advertised. Sorry, but this isn't subjective.

 + -1 moreI don't have time to write a detailed report. I have already filled out this form once and am surprised you would ask again. The service was good, but I had no way to test the results. The ducts were vacuumed out and I asked that the fireplace be vacuumed as well. This was an extra cost which I thought was too high, but was willing to pay since they were here. Initially, I thought that the fireplace was included in the overall cost. I did not notice an immediate difference; i.e. there was no fresh smell that I could detect. I did not see how much dirt was removed. I do not think I will repeat this experience, certainly not once a year. Lydia F. McVay

 + -1 moreIt took longer to schedule them than I had hoped. I think they did a poor job. They ended up scratching my new wood floor from dragging their machinery around my house. They seemed to finish the job too quickly. They were in and out in 15 minutes. It seemed to be a rushed job. They didn't tell me they were leaving. Their crew was not the most friendly or cordial. All around it was a poor experience.

One person was clean and neat and the other man was groce - he was filthy dirty with what appeared to be a weeks worth of filth on him and his clothing and this job was the first job of the day. They did a good job but not sure I would recommend them due to the personal hygene and appearance of one of the men who came out.

 + -1 moreThis service was a special Angie's List deal so the price was half the regular cost. The deal included a video of the chimney and full cleaning. The service provider didn't have the proper lighting so that we could see the inside of the chimney very well so that part of the deal was not that useful. However, the provider honestly told us the chimney was in good shape. We were concerned about it since the inside of the fireplace was very dirty and we had just bought the house a year ago so we didn't know what shape the chimney was in. The provider spent a good bit of time explaining what we could see on the video, and he said we didn't need any work done tother than cleaning because the chimney looked good. Considering what we paid, the provider could have told us we needed something, like repairs, in additition to the cleaning to jack up the price. He didn't do that. Needless to say, we were pleased and would recommend this provider and use him again ourselves in the future. Also, when I scheduled the service, the provider agreed to do the work on Saturday since I work during the week. I was treated courteously, even though this was a special deal, and was able to get the work done the week after I made the call.

 + -1 moresee above. would recommend that company supply additional drop clothes to place on carpet in work areas and possibly considering technicians clean up "debris and dust bunnies".
Description of Work: purchased "big deal" package online. Easy scheduling/quick. arrived within the window promised. arrived in a marked truck and wore tshirts with company logo. however, technicians did not introduce themselves. they were considerate and focused on their job. job from setup through completion done in 1 hour. did not ask/offer additional services. I did have to cleanup after they finished cleaning all vents (dust "bunnies" and loose debris) and I do have a "dirt" mark on my carpet that I am having some difficulty removing.

They said that a camera inspection was not necessary and the work could be done from the inside. according to them, a fireplace insert involves only a small diameter pipe that a camera would not work in and it could be easily cleaned from the inside.

Description of Work: They came looked over the different AIRDUCTS throughout the house, we have high speed air conditioning system, they decided to hook up their cleaning systems in my daughters DUCT VENT room. We have a BIGGER DUCT vent on the third floor, which they ignored and it still is dirty and not cleaned. Once they finished, they left my daughter room full of dust, AND dirt. We had to clean her room from top to bottom, including drawers, books, and book case and CHANGE her bed linen which was totally cover with dust and dirt. VERY DISATISFIED AND UNHAPPY WITH THIS SERVICE!!! MAYBE THEY CAN SEND A MANAGER / SUPERVISOR TO COME AND VERIFY THEIR POORLY DONE WORK. ALSO, TRAIN THEIR EMPLOYEES TO BE AT LEAST MORE CONSCIOUS OF THE DIRT AND DUST THAT THEIR SERVICE GENERATE WHEN THEY DO SERVICE A HOME.

 + 1 moreThey called me on the way to the job so I could meet them there, then I went over what they would be doing with them. My 91 year old Dad was there after I left and said the guys were great.
Description of Work: They were a great company to work with. I started with the deal of the day for duct cleaning, but ended up having them do much more. They also cleaned my chimney and checked out and changed my heater filter. The guys on the job were extremely professional, yet very personable as well. I would definitely use them again!

Description of Work: I purchased a "big deal" for $135.00 to get my chimney and fireplace inspected and cleaned. They did a great job; the chimney had not been cleaned in quite some time and it certainly posed a fire hazard. They offered to clean the dryer ducts so I had them do that which cost an additional $75.00 (which seemed a little steep).

 + -1 moreThe team arrived promptly and got right to work without much comment which was good and bad. Good because they were efficient, but a little explanation or description would have made it feel like less of an invasion. They did their work very quickly and were friendly, even though they were very quiet. When they were done, I was left with dust bunnies all over the house, but maybe this is to be expected?-It was my first duct cleaning. A few weeks later I found that one of the upper registers was not cleaned and really full of dust but I did not call them back out since it was just one. Im sure it was just unnoticed since in a corner.

 + -1 moreThe service is not professionally performed. The techs work like random people they hire from the streets with no experience or customer service skills. I would like to be reimbursed for a job not done properly.
Description of Work: I was scheduled from 12-5, they arrived at 2:45. The service tech. arrived & said he was from Nu-Air, he never introduced himself, he was filthy dirty & walked through my house. I showed him where my heater was he needed to open the window to run the hose to connect to my heater, in the process of raising my blinds he pulled the string so hard the blinds came crashing down, he handed them to me & never put them back. To start off like this I was quite annoyed. I can't tell you what his name was because he never introduced himself. I felt like I had someone from the gettos working in my house. There was another tech. that assisted the first tech. he was very nice but didn't introduce himself either. When he entered my house he actually put covers on his shoes which I appreciated but didn't understant why the other tech didn't follow suit instead he walked through my house with his filthy boots. I have a total of 18 vents throughout my 4 bedroom split level house. They were also supposed to clean my dryer vent. My dryer was still left with a lot of lint that was never cleaned. The entire job was done in 1 hour & 15 minutes. This job if it was properly done should of taken them at least 4 hours. I've had this job done before several times & it always takes 3-4 hours to complete. They pulled the tape off the duct to attach the whole house hose but never sealed it up, One of the techs used my bathroom without asking & left black water all over my sink never rinsing it down. I feel I derserve a credit for a service not done properly. My vent covers were left dirty. The people that you hire to perform a job actually represent your company. These techs were absolutely horrible & not professional at all. Don't waste your money, it's true you get what you pay for. Spend the extra money & get the job done right. This is actually the second big deal I've purchased from Angie's list & was not happy with the company performing the job. The company doesn't even call you & ask if the job met your satisfaction. I will not use Angie's list again. I feel the companies that use the big deal are a starving business, & there is a reason for that. There work speaks volumes.

 + -1 moreI ordered this "Big Deal" package for a chimney sweep and inspection with video. The purpose of the inspection was to obtain a report that noted the adequacy of our chimney in connection to a chimney liner we previously had installed by another contractor. Our suspicion was that the chimney liner previously installed was inadequate and installed improperly. We needed confirmation of the chimney's status for a possible small claim action against our previous contractor. A crew of two arrived to perform the sweep and inspection. When I inquired about the video aspect of the inspection, they informed me that the video apparatus was broken. Therefore, I did not receive any video of the inspection. The crew did describe the condition of the chimney to me. They also offered to take a picture down the chimney from the roof with my camera, which they did. However, they did not provide a written inspection report to me. In fact, they provided me an invoice that stated the service provided was "Chimney inspection w/ written report." The invoice appeared to be an inspection form. However, there was absolutely no inspection information on the invoice, and I received no other documentation. Finally, they performed a chimney sweep, but I cannot comment to the quality of that service. I assume that it was adequate.

 + -1 moreI purchased a Big Deal for a chimney cleaning with video inspection. There was no problem with scheduling a convenient appointment, and the crew arrived right on time. They even called prior to arrival to let me know they were coming. The problem was they were not prepared to do the entire job. The crew cleaned the chimney, although not as thoroughly as other companies I've hire in the past. When it came time to do the video inspection, they inserted the camera into the chimney but couldn't see anything. Apparently, two of the three lights that were intended to illuminate the area were not working, so the entire video process was a waste of time. I feel a little short changed, because that was the reason I purchased this deal in the first place. I think the company needs to invest a little money into updating their equipment before they post an offer like this.
