Not much to say. He came, he did, he left. Less then an hour. One fixture was a little lose, he came back the next day, fixed it, in 10 min. he was gone! I am very happy with a well done job. Everything works is it should. 2 of the lights are facing the one light, they go on at dusk, and off at dawn, facing each other, they can cancel out, and start blinking off & on. He got them adjusted just right so they stay on all night, PERFECT!!!
Description of Work: Took down 3 light fixtures, & put up 3 new fixtures.

At first we were very excited to have Jack and crew do the work. The work progressed well, although Jack purchased cheap Home Depot/Lowes cabinetry that really was not designed to be an island. We had used Jack before and he was able to do, what I thought was, the impossible so I let it go and just knew the finished product would be good. When Jack was installing the dishwasher he drilled multiple holes into the brand new wood floor that was just installed trying to find a place to drill without hitting a stud. Jack routed the water from the basement via a "tee" to both the sink and dishwasher instead of tee'ing off the water under the sink. The water inlet to the dishwasher as well as the shutoff valve was located directly behind the dishwasher. This did not seem right to me and I questioned Jack and he said "this is how it is now done". Long story short...... He completed 95% of the project (doors to install under the sink) and a couple of other items. Jack said he would be back to complete these items within a week - no worries I thought. Jack asked for payment and against my better judgement I paid him the full amount (as requested). To date..... This was early August and it is now October 21st. No door has been installed under the sink. When the counter was installed and the sink hooked up - the cold water was incorrectly plumbed (by Jack) to the hot and vice versa. We had hired a plumber to finish the work since Jack was unresponsive to come out. Thank goodness we did because the plumber spent 6 hours and I paid $775 to fix what Jack had done. The plumber had to redo the dishwasher hookup because he said that plumbing directly to the dishwasher with a shutoff behind the unit which no one can get to is a code violation. He did show me the building code in the city documentation. My wife and I have repeatedly attempted to contact Jack and get him to finish the work, but last communication was 9/11 and nothing since. Buyer beware - I'm not going to say he does great work, because clearly he lacks knowledge of building code and I was happy to pay a plumber (also from Angies List) to correct a problem since this is my daughters house and she cannot fix things herself. If you have Jack do anything please make sure and assure the work is 100% complete to your satisfaction before paying. I really wanted to like Jack and have him do other things, but this project simply did not go well.

This project started out to be a simple modification of an existing island. the original project was to remove a raised portion of the, and install a new full size dishwasher in place of the small apartment sized one already in place, however after the existing counter top was removed the customer decided to replace the cabinets and the to install a farm sink. The fastest way to acquire cabinets was to purchase in stock cabinets at a local big box supply store (Home Depot). The customer approved the cabinets. I was then asked if i could hold off on the job while the customer installed new laminate flooring since it would be easier for hime to do while the island was no longer in the way. ( I accomodated this delay of 3 days) The customer then informed me that they wanted a farm style sink and i had to modify the the sink base cabinet for this change. I was asked to have the island in place the same day so the granite counter top company could come out and make his template. I again accommodated this request. The granite counter was not templated until 2 days later. While i was waiting for the countertop to be installed I removed trash and brick the customer had accumlated during several projects they did and removed them to the local waste site. The plumbing was in fact completed according to code as it was located in the original space and connected to the original source ( only removed at the request of the customer to make his floor installation easier. any holes drilled in the new flooring to place pipes back up into the island are not visible and under the cabinetry. The counter top company then delayed this project a total of 5 days before i could go back and install the Faucet and place some final trim needed to complete the project. Yes the door below the sink was not installed at the end of the project because the door opening was modified to accommodate the farm sink. I then tried to use the original door by modifying it so it would fit however the door had a laminate finish and did not lend itself to the modification and would not look good if installed. I told customer i would fashion a new door out of wood which would fit the style of the cabinet and install it. Yes i requested payment for services rendered as the project was completed as intended (after all modifications of the original plans and delays by the customer and countertop.) Also the customer left the state and did not send payment for another week. As for the sink door, I was asked about it and i reported the door was not complete as i had to try and match the color and paint as yet. but the customer kept giving me specific days i had to be ther to complete the project as his daughter is very busy because she is a lawyer and her time is very valuable. Unfortunately for I could not fit my schedule to match the requested dates of the customer but at two points i suggested a weekend (once for a Saturday and once for a Sunday) however again the daughter was to busy and those days were "not acceptable". I believe i in good faith gave this customer quality service, a quality job and kept the price at or just above the original cost of the project even with all the changes and delays, the increase in cost was due to the price of the cabinets. I was patient as i had schedule this project to meet the need s of the customer who would come in from out of state and have to leave 2 weeks later. All delays were due to the customer choice of floor installation and choosing a counter top company who was busy. I am sorry this customer is not satisfied, But I feel and truely believe in my heart that i did everything for this customer i could possibly do. I think most other contractors would have walked off the site or charged more money just for the delays.

I felt that they spent more time looking over the menu of instructions than actually constructing everything together, which affected the time that they had to do the work itself.

the customer attempted to construct this swing set themselves at first but decided it was to much for them and then decided to hire some one. When i arrived, I found all the components out of thier boxes and laying in piles in a shed. I spent the first 2 and a half hours just sorting out the playset ( one of the wooden ones with the rock climb, tower, slide, rope tunnel and swing) must have been 300 pieces or more) nothing marked or in original packing to match to instructions. The customer purchased a4 hour service, I spent 2 1/2 sorting, then gave the customer 4 hours assembling.. I think the time i spent was used extremely well and the customer received more than they purchased as i did not charge any extra.

Jack has the patience of a saint as I had to reschedule 2 times due to surgery. He was able to work with me and the dates. He honored the price after the expiration date which was appreciated. His workman are extremely professional, pleasant, tidy and offered tips. I had light problems in the bathroom and he evaluated the situation checking the breakers, etc and recommended to use an electrician as it was beyond his expertise. The electrician came yesterday and it was completed. I would highly recommend his services and plan to use him again.

Also, he was so disorganized in his business, that he called me a few days ago (September, 2015), because he was "going through his list of "prospective clients", and wanted to know if I "needed work done". This is an example of a non-professional. Why is he even on Angie's List??? To irritate members? Very disappointing, very disappointing.
Description of Work: The provider did nothing, he continuously put me off, almost until it was difficult to get a refund. Then he misrepresented the conditions of my property, and told me to "get your money back from Angies List"!!!

Member hired me for a 4 hour service. I went to the property on the scheduled day, however it was her son's property and he was asleep when we arrived and never answered the door. Member asked to reschedule and I did. Found out she had an insurance claim for water damage. The damage included severe wood rot, lath, plaster damage and floor damage. We inspected the work told her she should have mold remediation before continuing. She asked if she could get a refund and I told her yes even though I spent over 4 hours in driving and inspecting the repairs. Member received refund and that was last time we spoke. I do not solicit any client for work. Some members have a misconception on what a Handyman service entails. If the scope of work is more than anticipated I submit a quote. If the client feels the cost is fair they hire me, if not I understand and do not pressure them to hire me.

The whole job went very smooth. Jack was very professional. He took measurements and explained what had to be done. I was given a date when the job was to start and how long this job would take. Jack of trades arrived early that morning and started demolition of the old concrete. They removed the old concrete, swept, and taped off the area. Thursday, Jack of Trades arrived early to start mixing and pouring concrete. They smooth and divided the concrete, than taped off that area. The next day Jack Joyce arrived to check the work and give minor instructions on the upkeep. He also left a telephone for me to contact him I had any questions about the done by his company.

The sensor light was broken and a new one was installed . They were patient since I had to go to Home Depot and purchase a new one while he waited until I returned. It is now working adequately. This purchase was 4 hours of handyman services so we were limited for time which means he could only do one more project. That project was to install a table on our deck which was not done correctly since it all fell apart after he left. It was a brand new table with instructions on how to put it together, but it was not put together correctly

After a few emails and phone calls, Jack came out for an estimate on June1st. I found him to be knowledgeable, engaging and personable. I have a house built in the 50's and my master stall shower floor grout line between tiles was non-existent. I had thought about doing an epoxy finish but Jack convinced me he could do a good job installing a new tile floor over the existing one so I decided to go with that option. He told me to find tile I liked and gave me some parameters. I did so during the next week but Jack was not available until the end of the month so we scheduled an appointment. I also had a 'to-do' list of smaller jobs around the house. Jack said he'd be here six and a half hours and could complete my list in that time frame. On 6/29, Jack and his nephew Patrick were a little late due to car problems, but did call. Once here, they went about their work professionally and quietly with Jack concentrating on the shower and Patrick on the caulking and painting. Patrick didn't seem to mind my sitting in the same room chatting with him. The guys broke in the middle of the day for an hour and had to go to the hardware store for some supplies. By the end of the day, I had a brand new tiled shower floor and a caulked sink that absolutely gave my bathroom new life. The floor looks great! My big picture living room window had a fresh coat of caulk and paint and the draperies were raised up to the ceiling and new blinds were installed. A mirror was hung in another bathroom and a painting was hung elsewhere. The front door was weatherstripped and the foyer window was caulked. Where wall to wall carpet had previously been removed, holes were filled and cord a round was added by the stairwell. A faulty door knob was changed out with a new one. And cracks between the house and the patio were filled. I certainly feel that the price was reasonable for all of that work which included the major re-tiling of the shower. I am so glad I decided to go through with this particular project! I did have a bit of a clean-up, but all in all, a very good job. I will definitely call Jack again in the future for other work to be done.
Description of Work: Tiled stall shower, caulked sink, caulked a couple of windows, painted large window sash, raised draperies, installed blinds, installed new door knob, weatherstripped door, hung a couple of pictures, repaired a couple of holes with wood filler and cord a round, caulked a few cement areas on patio.

Ok. I was specific about what I needed done on the phone including dimensions of the drywall patches I needed cut, we made a date. But then he came a week early! I was not prepared and neither was he and he came completely without drywall so burnt an hour of time going to Home Depot. In two hours he did one patch very sloppily but promised to come back next week to finish it right. The guy who came back the next week to finish the job did a much better job and was prepared, but also did not finish the job. Said they would send someone out to finish it but I have heard nothing from them and don't want to deal with the hassle of this being undone anymore, so I had our painter do it. Turned out to be expensive and then not to have it completed was a disappointment.
